Have Herks ever been rolled / looped?

I know that at airshows here in NZ, the RNZAF ones are pulled in some tight (near 90 degrees) turns.

OR – if you REALLY want to go nuts – try Aces High II – online combat flying at it’s wildest. You haven’t lived until you duke it out in a Hurri I against an A6M5 at wavetop level….. Then again, blast that boasting peacock in the Lala (La-9) with your Spit 1, and watch him cry foul!

Or, if you’re like me, do a full power dive from 20K, …. only to realize that you’ve compressed and become a beautiful lawn dart… 🙂

Try doing a 450mph dive in a Flying Fortress in Microprose’s “B-17”. The wings come off giving you not a lot of control either !!!

You wouldn’t want to get an engine out on the ’52 while doing that……. 😀

I remember seeing that. The Spit was at quite a high angle of attack just trying to keep from stalling.
It was amazing to watch for sure.

HI Turbo, I am surprised no-one has suggested the obvious site for a spit sound, This one is a beaut, there is even the suggestion of the charcteristic whistle of the earlier marks, Have a look yourself http://www.spitcrazy.com

Thanks for the link, Grounded. No sign of any Griffon noises there from what I can see unfort.

I have to say though, the one Christer gave me is just simply awesome. Low level high speed pass of a Mk 14.
I put it on CD and played it though my Hi Fi. It vibrated the walls !!!!!!!

70% ain’t quite the real thing, is it.

The 24 is indeed a beautiful version of the Spitfire, very long, sleek and muscular IMO.

    Of course,….

Anyway, that leads me to another question.
With the recent (ish) replica of K5054 made and suchforth, is there any possibility of a Spitfire Mk 24 ever taking to the skies again?
We’ve seen just an example of about every other Mark up in the blue yonder so far.

Certainly not – although try being at the barrier at Duxford, with sixteen or seventeen Spits taxiing past you within about twenty feet of your face! :D:D:D:D:D

    Better than sex, Daz ?? 😀 😀 😀 😀
