To keep this pot boiling . . .

Another B(I)8, 16Sqn this time, at Bodo I think.

And imagine seeing this when you’re having a quiet day at the beach.

Great pics,…..LOVE the B-36 one. The noise would have been amazing !!

Bugger me sideways and call be Sebastian that Sunderland shot is amazing. Did they get away with it?

I’ve got footage of it. Actually they managed to fly away and re-land back in it’s “proper environment” but not without the crew franctically stuffing the hole that was created in the hole with stuff to stop the water coming in.

Well with regard to the obsolescent fighters, the movie was made during the war, so perhaps there was some secrecy or military restrictions, hence showing the 2nd line aircraft instead.

hmmm,… I was certain at one of the Wanaka Airshows I went to a while ago, there was a Mk9 there and OFMC was mentioned. I may be wrong though. 😮

    Edit:
Oops,…I have had my wires crossed. it’s actually the MKXIV that we have here. The one Sir Tim had his accident here in NZ.
    Apparently it’s being restored.

Apologies, I believe the OFMC Spit IX has been here before.

It’s the MkXVI thats the mainstay

Also, here is a famous photo of just how big the Avenger Cannon is.
The A-10 is actually built around the cannon !!

Here’s a great link on a female pilot who brought her badly-damaged Wart-Hog back to base after a mission over Baghdad

That’s the one in Timaru to celebrate Richard Pearse’s achievements I believe.
Haven’t actually heard, Dave Homewood or DaveM2 would probably know.

Actually you’re quite right, Im remember the Boomerang being here now that I think of it.
Over here, the Classic Fighters Airshow in Blenheim alternates year out with Wanaka and that’s a brilliant airshow in it’s own right.

lol, Setter,…..on a serious note, it would be really awesome to lend/lease NZ and Oz warbirds for the major airshows, ie Ozzies get the Polis in return for Boomerang, Hudson and Canberra coming to the Kiwis. We get to see aircraft we couldn’t normally without going overseas and vice versa.

However cost and logistics is a major issue I assume.

Wouldn’t it be great to see a Hali-Bag flying again, esp in formation with the Lanc.
