Basically, at large commercial airports you will have several dedicated airlines or handling agents each employing people in various roles

Baggage Handlers – Load and unload baggage
Load Controllers – Concerned with weight and balance of the a/c
Flight Dispatchers – Supervising a/c on turnaround
Cleaners – Clean a/c during turnaround
Ramp Operatives (Title varies company to company) – Carry out pushbacks and a/c towing etc
Traffic Officers – Check-in and passenger escort duties

Refuellers – Fuel a/c (Tend to be employed by the applicable fuel company)

All the above will be confined to their own specific role.

HOWEVER, with smaller companies and at smaller airfields it would be quite common to see a lot of the above being covered by one person

Flew to Malta and back sometime in the 70’s. Superb flight and equally superb aircraft apart from one thing. Whoever decided that access to the four holds in the main belly would be from directly underneth the aircraft need their head examined!.

I’d heard that the first was to be Birmingham based from the end of this month. However, reports now suggest that it will be Southampton based

Eastern said some time ago that they were expecting a fifth SAAB 2000 / S20 / SB20, but as yet nothing further has materialised. I’m trying to get confirmation of their proposed equipment plans.

Several factors come into play with take off and landing performance, and these factors can result in varying required distances for each individual type.

    For instance

    Payload
    Fuel carried
    Air temperature
    Airfield elevation
    Windspeed and direction
    Prevailing weather conditions
    A/C balance (Centre of gravity)

    To give a few…………..
