    Dad in the storch πŸ™‚

Red Admiral had a camera in the back during his display and they got some really nice footage which will hopefully end up on one of the Duxford videos/DVDs this year.

Moggy – I was crewing the Storch. What time were you over there?

The wind was out of the lancs crosswind limit at Conningsby.

Sorry to hear that Moggy. At least you got to fly in something.

My planned trip into Clacton got scrubbed because of the wind πŸ™ Clacton would have been fine but getting out and back into Rayne would have been impossible…

I did however have a good cub session on Sunday practising my wheelers. I’m sure the people in the clubhouse at Andrewsfield had great fun watching me land and then go down the whole runway holding my tail in the air. I think I mastered them in the end πŸ˜€

I hope your cub wish happens soon.

    Moggy,

To get you in for the mood πŸ™‚

My brothers first flight with me on Christmas day… It was cold so I had the bottom door closed.

    Enjoy it πŸ™‚

I’m looking at taking my Cub into Clacton at somepoint over the weekend. I’ll go for a quick walk down the beach, get an ice-cream and then fly home.

Have the door open and enjoy the views.

Let us know how you get on.

    Moggy,

Does the Colt have the interconnected Aileron and Rudder controls like the Tri-Pacer? I found this quite a strange system to get used too.

I completed my PPL at Andrewsfield last year and the final lesson before my flight test was spinning. The Cessna 152 will come out of the spin anyway but we held it in for a couple of turns just so I could experience the sensation.

They say that you are taught to avoid spinning, but if one happens would a person who has had no spinning training know what to do? I’m glad my instructor is still one of those people who insists on covering it.

In my opinion spinning should be taught before a student is even allowed to go solo. Yes it may put people off flying , but if it saves lives all the better.

    RE: strange ones

I’m afraid not. Dad has never painted MH434. Ok. Not entirely true. He did paint and fibreglass Spitfire for Breitling as MH434. I know it is one Spitfire that he did want to paint too.

I was also thinking a Skyraider. It looks like a 2 seat one.

    RE: Mustangs – Confession Time

If I recall correctly, all we did on the Mustang was remove Candyman/Moose, put on the yellow nose and change the squadron codes on the side.

The Buchon and P40 were also only modifications to the schemes they already had.

The Corsair, the Fury and the L-39 were full resprays.

I miss the RNZAF scheme on the Corsair and P-40. These schemes really made these two aircraft stand out from the others.

    RE: Mustangs – Confession Time

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-02-03 AT 02:42Β PM (GMT)]I have to admit to this. I help remove the Moose.

When Dad was respraying the OFMC aircraft when the Breitling Fighters were first formed, he gave me and a few others the job of rubbing the cowlings of Candyman/Moose down (obviously not well enough if it could still be seen)

    That’s my confession.

Has anyone else had this problem?

If you have I’ll remove the links from my signature. I know what computers are like so this would not surprise me at all. I’ve never heard of this though.

Let me know if this happens again.

    Indeed it is πŸ™‚

My younger brother Andrew has been working on it too.

I’m in the process of moving house so I have not had the opportunity to see it yet but I have been kept up to date with Dad’s pictures.

I believe the Sabre in the spray shop is the one that used to be in the American Air Museum.
