Has there been any independent verification of the quality of a/c exported by China. I am sure being a communist dictatorship they can extract the highest amount of quality and percision for all their products.

I konw that PAF may have an H&D reason not to reveal the true quality of their superb Chinese planes, but what about Egypt, Nigeria or even SL?

Oh dont get me wrong…I am sure they are good…just that I am too jaded by misinformation and misrepresentation (photochops) to really believe anything the Chinese and their drones have to say, so I guess an independent review would certainly be helpful.

Or one is fact and the other side is pure fiction that they seem to apply liberally for others too.

There are no accidents (till date) with the Indian Su-30K or the Su-30 MKI fleet. For the record they were never grounded or cannibalized either as some like to profess so eloquently with nothing to back them up.

EDIT: There was a report sometime back about a/c landing in “foam” at Lohegaon as a ‘test’? Donno if that amounts to a crash landing/unserviceable airframe. If the drones consider it unservicable (with nothing to back them up as usual) then I will let them have this unless Jagan or someone tells us otherwise.

Huh? Why should the Indians train in a USAF facility? Did you hear something bout the white elephants? They are being trained currently for STOBAR by the USN (for the Mig-29K). There has to be a reason to be “trained” by the USAF. I guess the Chuck Yeager effect must have worn off for the PAF, need to sprue up that image.

I admire the sheer # of grainy telephoto pics that come out China every second day. But I an anxiously wait for the day when someone for one of those esteemed “expert websites” on Chinese defence matters on the net get to official goto an Chinese airbase/naval dockyard/day at sea and take some good NON-grainy non telephoto pics officially..ya know like an Oracle/SinoDef/PakDef exclusive.

I know you hate being asked for sources…but still I dont like the way the “clouds” are formed around the a/c. Also given that Oralce Forum comes second only to drone forums in photochopped pics…..please allow me to be a bit cynical.

The last thing I want is to see the LCA program being dragged down to the level of a drone program. Hence a source/story behind the pic would be nice.

This is why I keep saying this forum has been oraclized. There are no drones or oraclities contributing to this thread and YET you guys seem to have dragged it to an inane tanget that neither the party can prove.

    On the main topic:
I think the Indo-Israeli (with US blessing) relationship works well for all parties concerned. Take the next gen Barak for instances, its a Naval SAM…but like the Brahmos a successful testing could/would certainly lead to terrestrial versions. Since its going to be devloped and most certainly made in India for the Indian mkt…the service will never had to worry about after sales service and spares. And it will find a huge mkt in India…I believe the IN will standardize on this missile a/c the fleet and if/when the terrestrial version comes along IA/IAF will certainly show interest.

Anecdotally, I believe that the Israelis offer VERY GOOD after sales service compared to the Russians (for them its whats in the contract or god help you) thats one reason why the armed forces love the Israeli vendors.

In the long run, codeveloping hi tech weapons will only help in stablizing the Indian defence mkt. Its very clear that in the next couple of decades nearly everything that Indian will use SHOULD have some fall back in India (TOT, mfg, codev). Granted that due to economies of scale its much better to sources spares from the OEM country, but having a back up line of some sort in India…will certainly tide over any diplomatic inconvenience that might come up.

The problems will start when the money runs out (and eventually it will) thats when you separate wheat from the chaffe. How will that affect on goign projects? What will the terms be for either putting the projects on hold or shifting the funding base?

As I have said time and again, the BARS-29 has only one advantage and that is its commonality with the BARS-M on the MKI, otherwise the Phazotron Zhuk-MFE has far superior performance and Phazotron are claiming that they will be able to fly a Mig-29 AESA sometime on 2007.

Errr….if an in-development radar has a LOT of commonality with a superlative inservice radar that the user is very familiar with and has contributed in no small measure in making even better….I dont think thats just “one advantage”. Maybe if you use Oracle’s exotic brand of logic sure…but in the real world it is very important.

Many moons ago when I was being skooled by a very pivotal person in the Su-30 world…he made a very incisive point, “everyone has something to sell…not everything thats is sold works as advertized in the real world and specifically in OUR conditions of use.”

A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.

This threads should be named Kaveri news and SPECULATION thread. I know the drones dont like talking equality and fairness…but we cant accuse them of photochopping and brouchure sniffing on quixotic products if we indulge in the same. Kaveri is far from prime time…

After all their lun lun has been mounted on a legally assembled Su-27, although I donno the legality of mounting a non-OEM engine on it (well it could be a photochop too……I recall seeing early Su-27 prototypes fitted with the AL-21 in Fomin that look suspeciously similar to the so called lun lun prototype flight).

    This is so confusing…..

Well if you ask the Chief Chinese Drone…it would say that the Green Pine does not exist…if it does its grounded or cannibalized…or better yet stolen by the monoglians on behalf of the chinese. The simple fact is NOTHING has pretty much leaked out of the GOI or Armed Forces after its transfer to India in 2000 (?).

It was supposed to form the core of the Arrow ATBM system, but that does not seem to be moving. DRDO is making noises about a home grown hybred system, Barak next gen is now in development, S-300/400/500 or whatever is now being talked about.

Given the current state of unknowns even a Chinese drone would seem credible. But I would hazard that they could be at the very least familiarization units (a.k.a White Elephants) or they could be DRDO development Test Beds. And you can put in air defence somewhere in b/w….coz nobody really knows whats going on.

Its like the ATV…if a drone says that India stole a Han class it might be equally correct as someone saying that we are developing an Akula II at home…coz no one really knows for sure whats going on.

You are right…I am sorry. I really didnt mean to insult you by insinuating that you are angling for something as dreadful as a chinese citizenship. A thousand apologies. You really dont want to belong to a country where they cannibalize and ground their flankers and assume that everyone else does the same.

Those radars are useless they cant even detect the free flow of fresh green and orange paint across the “porous borders”. A fat lot of good they are doing.
