I’m surprised that the primary functions of the new Vetrivale RCs (RC-1 and 2) was never published/posted : 1) Automatic PRF selection for targets moving at blind speeds 2) Increase of target tracking capability to 8

Also waddya expect from an AF that still like to confuse folks about its MTOW/LTOW. :diablo:

………..May be he would like to express his opinion about Alexey Fedorov (president of Irkut Corporation)’s comments that in future Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will be active in cooperating with the Malaysian Air Force in providing their Sukhoi fleet with spares and technical service. I mean, was Irkut chief throwing bones? ………
Err that sounds like specious logic from the city of Lahore…since
The empennage units, manufactured by HAL will be mounted at Irkutsk Aviation Plant on the Su-30MKI, which will be delivered to the Indian Air Force and other customers.
So its just extending to the MKM whats already on the MKI and its a LOT MORE than spares and tech service.
I like your “run before you walk….else you have failed projects “phrase…we all do that…but not all of us have similar strides…some us can take bigger strides because we can…and thats exactly what they do. And you can never fail if you dont try. And if you believe the cliche of “failure is when you stop trying”…some of us have enough resources in terms of money and manpower to keep going at it….and till as such time as we hear that something has been DEFINATELY stopped…its not really a failure. So much for tangential reference…or presumed tangential reference.
Oracle ji:
Just to remind you (since you dont seem to remember much anyway) you had argued that “Su-34 and J-10 use AL-31FM STANDARD.” Thats the keyword that started this errr discussion. Now your own posts shows that the STANDARD engine is FN and that Salyut is trying to come up with a TVC version which it HOPES to sell to the Chinese. So unless your version of english is different when you say something is the standard it means its the norm (widely recognized and employed) and when someone is DEVELOPING something to REPLACE the standard, its not a standard but an IMPROVEMENT. Wait…lemme guess…you are about to reinvent the meaning of the word STANDARD right?. Amaze me… :diablo:

I use the word FM standard does not mean that it actually uses FM engine. as usual you dont read well………….this is from Feb 11, 2002 issue of Flight internatinal incase you are not following engine developments.
And this is from Moscow Defence Briefs 2001 No.6 in an interview with Yuri Lastochkin, General Director of Saturn NPO
………..
Is Saturn paid for the sale of the license for the AL-31FP engine?Yes, Saturn is getting money under the con*tract. We are transferring all the technical documents to the Indians, and the Ufa plant under the same contract is responsible for pre*paring production, equipment and several tech*nological processes.
Is it possible to sell a similar license to China as well now?
The decision to sell a license is a prerogative of government bodies. If we intend to make the next engine, this should be made regular prac*tice. If we don’t, there is no sense in doing so. By the way, we have already delivered nine AL-31FN engines that are being adjusted for singe-engine aircraft. India is also interested in the engine for its LCA project. I see nothing wrong in selling a license to China or developing a new engine together with China and India, in particular an engine of the next generation. Be*cause if the United States slightly loosens ex*port controls over its military output, we will simply drop out from the Indian and Chinese markets. Therefore we should attract them through industrial alliances and joint projects.
You take FI and I will stick to Lastochkin, while he maybe no oracle I am sure he knows what goes on in his company. So much for who reads what.

That would be AA-12 ADDER.
AA-12 Adder is Nato designation hence “(Nato)”, I know it was a bit cryptic…but you cant expect me to type straight when replying to anything thats posted by the Oracle 🙂 .
You can extrapolate EW price from F-16I which is $250M for 102 F-16I. same is the case with French displays. Only digital FBW and TVC and airframe strengthening remains for russia cost. and that should not exceed $5M per aircraft assuming digital FBW for Ruaf aircrafts along with new EW suite and targetting system combined. I am ruling out new AL-31 engine price for now as these just required TVC nozzles.
I am amazed at your knowledge sir. Amazing….I cant help but marvel at your insightful observations. You really are an asset to AFM. Would you suggest gluing them on or do you recommend using thumb tacks? Should we call Martha Stewart for it?
Ummmmmmm yes… I love the way the TVC nozzles reflect light off the the tail sting. We will take two of these nozzles made from Reynolds wrap…folded neatly to create a corrugated pattern and use a glue gun to stick them on. You can use a terry towel to whip off the excess glue and let the whole Su-27SK sun dry till you get one warm….supple…..sleek metal form with a gleaming. Next week we will use fresh silk spun from chinese silk worms to make FBW controls……..
PS: The J-10 used FN not FM.

Oracle ji:
X is the russian (cyrillic) OEM designation so X-31 is the Kh-31, R-77 is aka RVV-AE, X-73 is the R-73. I thought you were smart enough (or were enough of an a/c enthusiast) to know that, but guess being an oracle takes up way too much of your time. Most folks in the IAF will give you a puzzled look when you ask about the AA-12 (Nato)? And when you say R-77…they respond with “Oh RVV?” I donno about where you come from but 12,700 is quite different from 12,500 and its not a typo that this south asian air force is likely to make…granted you would like to believe that….but then you are the oracle who has redefined what BVR is…so who am I to argue with you.
If it costs only $15M to reach full MKI (mk.3 std) then I guess very soon we will have 273 odd MKI std a/c flying around in our neighbourhood. I say it aint gonna happen…you and other claim that its doable…only time will tell. Till then you can continue to dream up wonderful # about an in-development AL-31FM (on the Su-35 @ 12.8 and on the Su-34 @ 13.3 on the J-10 @ 15 oh what the heck make it 30,000 kgf??) and a $15M SMK upgrade to MKI.

Eh??? Oracal ji….first I actually typed a detailed reply for your typically scintillating post…then I thought, “why bother…this is the oracle, unless you wanna be dazzled with some of the craziest reply to your thoughtful post, why bother???”
Since words I thought of making use of pics, but the I realized that the last time you were shown a pic, you concluded brilliantly that it from a south asian AF that shouldnt be trusted. So you have me really in a corner here. So let me try a pic of words, perhaps that might work a bit better.

Now that takes care of AL-31FP being 12,500kgs. When the Russians come up with an inservice AL-31FM-1, FM-2, LET, JEM etc, we will cross that bridge them. After that we will wait for the DeathStar (which is coming soon actually May 20th).
Now I may not be successful in converting what you consider to be bovine fecal matter into a fact: after all all facts are fictions and fictions are fact with the Oracle of TWU-BVR. But please understand that life of an a/c is not determined by time alone but its a function of its use, maintainance, time (oops sorry for using non mad maths but stay with me here). So while the Su-30K are about a decade old they have been put through their paces due to the ‘MKI program’ and if you remotely understand what most Indians have been crying hoarse about the MKI…its stupid to believe that K can be changed to MKI…its like building a Maruti 800 on a Habib Sitara thats a decade old.
Gosh my attempt at being succinct turned out to be quite laborious…typical when dealing with the oracle.

I agree with Arthur. The marginal cost savings between upgradation and new purchase is perhaps not worth the loss in airframe life. You can bet that if there are issues CAG will have a thing or two to say about that. :diablo: :dev2:
Huh? I ve been the one saying that for well over a year now, he has been using his above average intellect to inform us that you can zimbly drop in a N011M, cut-paste canards, drop in a AL-31FP and get it to lift max fuel/payload without much effort (i.e. using the OEM Su-30 airframe). That I gotta see to believe…I think he seriously underappreciates what the MKI is all about :diablo:

True enough, the Ks have logged so many hours since 1996, I doubt that its worth it to go for such a big stuctural change.
That would be the primary reason for not upgrading an inservice a/c (as Arthur as correctly noted). The secondary reason would once again be beyond the scope of this discussion, but has been alluded to through various smarmy semantics like MTOW of MKI, true power output of the FP etc….etc…..
Since I dont have my AF book with me…could somebody care to refresh my memory about which inservice SU-30 was modified into the MKI (T-10MK1)?
