According to AvLeak (http://aviationweek.com/aw/generic/story.jsp?id=news/RED11058.xml&headline=USAF%20Pilot%20Critiques%20Red%20Flag%20Action&channel=defense ), he was breifing some retired USAF generals about the Red Flag. So he’s adressing to some guys that know a few things. Apparetly, someone filmed this.

Like I said before, this first came to light on BR on Sunday (or Saturday). We have seen the original YouTube post (before it was instantly removed and the username who even posted it vanished from YouTube) and the keywords associated with it included Daedalian which is the Order of the Daedalians.

Sure it consists of retired USAF officers but if you google for them you will find they are bit more than that.

    F-111buff26:
Oh not they will be far better informed even if you send them to AFM. Just make sure they are wearing their pilot fatigues and you upload the tape on YouTube. With this, you can pretty much get away with any crap. Hows about “Let me tell you, we have been reading all about their elephants. And believe me whatever I say you can find on National Geographic. But when our Typhoons went up against their flatulent elephants, we found that we could out turn them. but those elephants had trunks that are in a “I” shape so when they come into a merge and use their trunks, in that I shape, they actually start falling off the sky and thats when we drill their brains out.”

    🙂

Trust me all anyone has to do to sound credible no matter where he is pulling this stuff out of…is 1) look officious and hopefully serve at least as the water boy in the ready room 2) upload to YouTube.

Evidently he does not think its important to recall correctly/accurately the technical info available on Janes, if he wrong on open source info how can you take his word for what he says actually happened.

He said Indian “thumped their chest” @ Cope India, could you direct me to a source which FIRST started that story? This is the same guy who does not even recall that they met Su-30K (no TVC, no canards…I am sure he does not need Janes to remind him that there is a difference)

He also the guy who claims Indians were concerned about FOD which makes NO SENSE coz the Su-27 platform are equipped with FOD mesh and aux intakes. You have to be a retard NOT to question the Indians if they said something like that. Oh I am sorry not a retard…an aggressor pilot.

Like I said, if he talks out of his @ss as long as he wears the Olive green garb and flies at Nellis no one can really call him out. The only ones who can are the IAF (and the FrAF regarding their putative cowardice) who were really not expecting that he would be stupid enough to let someone video tape him at a Daedalian event and then broadcast it on YouTube.

……….As an aggressor, he’s seen it all from different types of airplanes and different air forces. As an aggressor, he knows details about different types of airplanes and their performance that few others know. Anyone who thinks he is uninformed is a fool (or blinded fanboy). His gaff about “Tumansky” is likely because he has flown USAF’s MiGs as part of his aggressor training and got tongue-tangled in the heat of the moment.

If he knew his Su-30MKI he would not call it an Su-30M or the 5th version. If he know his Bison he would know that they DONT have Israeli radars but Kopyo-21. If he knew his “Tumansky engines” he would also know they have FOD meshes. If he was flying in Cope India 2004 he would have know that they were Su-30K (not MKI). If has seen an MKI fly he would not motion with his hands that the TVC are a “V” but rather deflect at 15 and 32 deg in off vertical cruciform.

He himself said that everything he said we can find in Janes, I would be very happy if you can show me a Janes reference to the above points he mentioned.

But you are so correct WE are the fools and fanbois here…he after all is such an honorable man….which is the irony of it all. He could have said ANYTHING and with the video posted it would be assumed as gospel truth as folks are doing on this thread. Not thinking for themselves or comprehending whats already been stated.

You guys only recently discovered this video, I am going to simply copy/paste my post from BRF since we have been at this since Sunday AM.

    [*]Su-30M newest fighter…… Version 5 airplanes ?

    [*]Tumansky engines ??!!!

[*]No FOD screens/mesh on the std AL-31FP

[*]same air show demonstration as the F-22

[*]Cope India Su-30K best pilots-Indians pounded their chest

[*]Regular operational Su-30 unit were brought to Nellis

[*]Experienced guys comes from Mig-21 Bison has an Israeli radar

    [*]In V shaped TVC

    [*]the fumbling on PESA question

This guy is talking through is @ss during a Daedalian meet.

The only thing it proves is that when the MKI operating its radar strictly in training mode, with no CCM-HMS (R-73-Sura) might get shot down in 1 on 1 WVR combat when faced against an F-15. Is that a realistic expectation? If yes then I got a bridge to sell you.

It also proves that when the MKI operating its radar strictly in training mode, with incompatible datalinks and relying solely on RT with incompatible AEW platform, simulating R-27s (not R-77) might shoot down their own . Is that a realistic expectation? If yes then I got a dam to sell you too.

Unless has another source beyond Red Flag he really is no expert on radars PESA or AESA (MKI engines) so if you want to believe his fumbling as the gospel truth about the BARS, I got an F-15 to sell you too.

As you can clearly see the MKI thinks its a B-2, so obviously its got an identity crisis.

However, one area I still have a problem with is when the light levels drop. When it clouds over, my images tend to get very muddy and noisy. I appreciate there are always going to be more problems the less light there is. However, if anyone can tell me how to mitigate this as much as possible I’d be eternally grateful……use a Canon 350D with a Sigma 120-400mm lens with Optical Stabiliser.

The simplest answer to your question is post a pic that is “noisy and muddy” and from your EXIF data we might be able to help you figure out where you went wrong. These terms really dont mean much unless there is some data to support it.

I believe that Canon DPP did not ship out with the xxxD line up only the xxD (like 10D/20D…etc) got the DPP besides the 1D/Ds guys. But you really arnt missing much. You can use Adobe products or you can simply download Irfanview and you can converted CR2 to JPG or whatever.

Any more pics?……It also says Bars is at Phase III production and can track 16 targets.

You didn’t even ask me what the pic was?:D Its actually a screen shot of the OLS-30 clip from the HAL promo video.

From the clip its not evident if its a mfg line or maintainance line, either way its a very important pic which gives another glimpse of the MKI “program”.

Track 16 ?? Ok if they say so, after all the shiny brochures are always right.;)

Oh and for all you mathematicians and statisticians I got definite proof that the MKI wishes it was the B-2 Spirit. So you finally has something to ding the MKI with: a personality disorder.

    Flying blind, Sukhois ‘shot’
    SUJAN DUTTA…….

Umm this is nothing new even during the first Cope when the F-15 came down to India to face off with the Su-30K they were only show x of YY frequencies and the gentleman who was telling me about it (at that time perhaps one of the most experience/influential/relevant individual in the Su-30 world) was pretty blase’ about it.

He even inferred, half jokingly, “they will come and we will show them x freq (of the YY that the K operates in) and they will bring all their snooping equipment and upload this data to ECM makers back home via Satellite Link and all the hardware that rolls off their assembly line the very next day will have the x freq of the flanker in their threat library.”

So why are we doing this? I asked?

“Goodwill”, he replied with a sly smile.

It was all “goodwill” but even he admitted that no one comes close to USAF logistics and IAF could do well in learning from them. That is why Red Flag is so important. A castrated MKI still teaches the IAF a lot about how to plan, prepare and pound the enemy from someone who pretty much does it everyday. And others get to see what a shackled MKI can do and shudder at the thought of what it can do if it were to be unshackled.

I was saving this for a special occasion but I am sure some of you would like to take breather from sniffing them brochures.

European jet makers may replace Boeing in Tejas project

    BY :livemint

…………ADA sought Boeing’s help in speeding up the aircraft development for initial certification by 2010, the deadline for achieving the standards set by the Indian Air Force (IAF). Crucial to this is the Tejas achieving an angle of attack, or AoA, of 24 degree, a measure to prove the agility of the jet at extreme limits of performance. So far, Tejas has achieved basic standards set by IAF such as reaching 15km in altitude, manoeuvres of 6 g, or six times that of Gravity, speed of Mach 1.6, or 1.6 times the speed of sound, and an AoA of 22 degrees………… “Because of the change in altitude (at 24 degree AoA), it could have an effect on the aircraft characteristics,” the ADA scientist said…………………

But but but…JDW told us that LCA has only achieved 17 deg AoA??!!! And now some other guy is claiming 22 deg ???!!! We all know JDW will NEVER write up drivel, they certainly don’t have their head up their wahzoo. :dev2: So obviously this above article is lying. Lets all drum up 17 deg AoA….coz JDW said so.

Now I do understand that most oracles don’t possess the ken or the ability to go beyond sniffing shiny brochures but the above paragraph kinda sorta scratches the surface about the whole “Boeing Consultancy” Issue…there is more but I am sure if they are confessing to this much the rest will come out eventually. I am hoping there are still some amongst you who still have the ability to read between the lines and infer in the true nature of things. If not…I am sure the Oracle forum is well on its way to being on the safe list of sites for BOGOC.

If it is in fact the Bush administration making these decisions, then they won’t have to wait very long for a change of heart. Why aren’t they looking to Sukhoi for aid in this regard? Are they trying to diversify or bring in different experience?

I have been given to understand that the Russian have no clue about this aspect of flight testing (naah its nothing super duper ding dong…its really a bread and better flight testing issue but given how a single accident will almost certainly kill the LCA its not worth risking it).

So they did the next best thing go with the blokes who have the MOST experience in this aspect of flight testing with “similar” aircrafts (hint hint). If the Boeing and their masters act like pri*ks there are others its just that when you have the resources you would go with the guy with most experience first. If he says no then there are others will are waiting to fill their shoes.

If no one wants to help out then it will DELAY the program a bit, since they have to do a LOT of ground work like convincing the user, MOD and others about how if we embark alone on this aspect of testing sh**t can/will happen and it would be nice if they didn’t shut down the project when sh**t hits the fan.

    Don’t worry have curry.

Once upon a time the LCA had some promise and looked to be capable, these days it will be lucky if it is able to perform better than the Mig 21’s it is supposed to replace!

Et tu Matt?? 😮 I really did not expect this from you. This is what happens when you hang out on an Oracle forum.

The LCA is a program not an aircraft. The MKI is a program and not an aircraft. They have done more without EVER flying that can be talked about in open source. I have said this before and I guess its very difficult to understand without actually experiencing it: the LCA is building the infrastructure that will build India’s aircrafts. NO ONE hands you ANYTHING on a platter. Its simply not in their interest to do so.

The people who really know whats going on are really not talking (like WHY are we spending $20 million on Boeing “consultancy”?) The folks to claim to know whats going on like that rag JDW really have no clue what they are talking about 17 deg AOA is long gone….its now really a $20million consultancy issue.

Even with a 2032 and the IN-20 there is sooooooooooooooooooo much work that needs to be done, sooooooooooo much stuff that we (us internet brouchure baboons) cannot even comprehend.

Here is some food for thought:
Even if the LCA was flying today in full ASQR spec and with every last nut and bolt designed and built in India (ok for you every single microprocessor) even then the LCA will be a victim of geo-politics on a fundamental issue that village idiots like us cannot even comprehend. FORTUNATELY if/when the US heads for a recession and that leads to a global recession then that might be the BEST thing for the LCA (oh believe me it is).

DRDO to use Embraer Platform for early Warning Systems…………The Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) System is being developed by the Bangalore based CABS for the Indian Air Force. Under the deal, Brazil’s Embraer aircraft manufacturer will modify its regional jet aircraft, EMB-145 to carry the Active Array Antenna Unit (AAAU), developed by the DRDO, on the aircraft’s fuselage. Three modified EMB-145 aircraft will be developed under this agreement; the first one to be delivered in three years…..The various sub-systems of the AEW&C Mission system will be integrated into the ‘modified green’ aircraft by DRDO and the full-fledged EMB-145 based AEW&C will be flight tested for Mission system in India by DRDO along with IAF from 2012. The AEW&C system comprises many sub-systems like Radar and communication links that are being designed and developed by DRDO.

The EMB-145 “shell” is being custom designed for India. The dummy array has been shown in def expo, this/one of these will goto Brazil in final config weight to be flight tested. The aerodynamics of the AEW&C is the responsibility of the OEM not DRDO. So the shell after validation will come to India by summer 2011 (its not going to happen, they will find some issue that needs to be rectified). And then the real array will have to be mounted, the real electrical goes in, the real consoles go in. So its a lot of work even after 2011 if it comes in 2011. I would say a realistic DRDO timeline will be 2015 for the first bird.

In the mean time the IT-Vity for this platform is happening as we speak. The hardware already exists but the Indians want everything including the kitchen-sink installed on this baby (in terms of capabilities) so the IT-Vity (basically threat libraries, prioritization algorithms and the ability to display data in a cogent manner). The AESA is only “one of the many sources of inputs used to compute control solutions on this platform.” So if Oracles think this looks like the Eyrieie so it must be “just like the Eyerie” then I am sure the MKI is nothing more than the Su-27PU with canards.

I wouldn’t hold my breath till 2012 for this baby. The Phalcon has to come in, the IAF has to learn to use that and then build in what its learned on the Phalcon onto this platform…which means more IT-Vity. (I think on the forums we completely trivialize experience at the alter of shiny brochures)

Another important thing to note is simultaneous claims by the IA that they want their own air wing (no its not JStar its got other IT-Vity things on it). Well by 2020 thanks to the IT-Vity on this platform there might other applications for this bird.

DRDO played its cards right and are insisting its a regional bird (its only regional due to the platform chosen not in capabilities). So it will compliment the Phalcon. It will NOT come by 2012, but the IAF will be happy to tinker with the Phalcon till then and there are some “management” issue that need to be sorted out by IAF and its better for them to learn that on Phalcon than on an “inferior” desi AWACS.

Edit: You kids know that IAF wants EMB-145 to have AAR right? So endurance is only limited by how clogged the toilets are on the a/c. And there is no galley on this a/c.

I am looking for some information on Chinese aerospace infrastructure.

For starters, do the Chinese have a lightening test facility for their vast aeronautics industry? Could someone please post a link to it?

Are there any pics of the J-11 simulators, avionics test rigs or for that matter any a/c test rig?

I donno where JDW got this info from but the LCA has far surpassed the 17 deg limit (under certain conditions….while JDW seems to be propagating this fallacy as a blanket statement). As Nitin used to say, don’t pay attention to such “drivel”.

There are certain issues with the “flight envelop” and that’s why Boeing is being brought in, it has to do with the fact that Indians have no experience with this aspect of the flight and it was always a bridge that was to be crossed when they came to it. And like I have stated before…its better to pay Boeing a couple of million rather than have a disaster on their hands when they go into “this phase of validation of the flight envelop”.

There are enough an more oracles on this forum that will hang the LCA to dry and we can see JDW trying to force “17 deg” fatwa on us, imagine what would happen if there was a real incident.

Does any one know what is happening with Tejas 2-seater or the Naval version?

    Thanks

PV5 is being fitted out will fly in a “few months”. It’s undergoing final avionics integration checks on its dedicated test rigs.

ADE has the single seat real time simulator (RTS) as of March 2008 (officially) so its not clear (officially) if there is a similar RTS for dual seater.:diablo:
