I also mentioned volume and weight? Russian radars of this size weighs 250 to 300KG. Any way your 700MM initial claim is blown apart by your own admission. let see how long it takes for this one :p
Bete….please understand the ‘units of measurements’ here its millimeters, 650mm and 700mm are separated by a whopping 50 mm or a super whopping 5 cms !!! Now if he said 900mm and it was 650mm then it would be a different case. HOwever since you are the all knowing orcale of twu BVR and needing a VISA to launch said BVR missiles I guess 50 mm must be a big difference. Also to aid you cause…arent you the one who professed that ‘south asian airforce pics should not be believed’ so why bother they dont have an MMR. Go to town with that.

Dan:
I highly doubt you will get any info from anyone unless the IAF explicitly wants them to have it or pass it along. Have you seen any IAF pics of the X-31 (KH-31) and the X-59 (KH-59)? Yet you will see the Su-30MKI display boards noting them.
I dont think anyone publicly got to see the RVV with the IAF till Sept. 2002 either. So if it does not show whats supposed to be ‘normal’ accessories, what are the odds of you getting a pic with ‘abnormal’ ones? 😀
So, LCA w/o Kaveri will only be operational by 08?
Yes…..there will be 40 odd (hopefully only 20) a/c flying with GE-404F2J3 engines. Kaveri will have a systematic and slow operationalization which will spill into the next decade (by which time the IAF would be well versed with the LCA platform in general).
…………. Some time later, the 18 Indian Su-30Ks will
return to Irkutsk, where they will be converted into Su-30MKI (in fact, it is more likely that they will be replaced with new-built aircraft).
he he he he he he
you should cross post this in BR too….after me alluding to this all the while….it finally comes up as open source.
Those poor SU-30K gave up their youth for the ‘MKI program’ now we shall see what the kid can do…..
We live in interesting times.
…….Oh, one bureaucracy watching another. How quiant. In the US, the GAO is heavily criticized for breeding ‘bean counters’ without essentially understanding the strategic issues involved. As they say, leave military policy to the accountants, not the generals………
I am not sure if you are familiar with the concept of “checks and balances” but thats pretty much what they oversight agencies are. They dont care if its the F-22 or MKI or govt. precriciption programs or fertilizer subsidy. They have blinders on, their job is to account for the use of public money not to care about what the outcome of their reports will be, but they do affect the outcomes which is not really their intention. They simply report to the the executive and the legislative branches and due to the nature of democracy these two branches have to table the report before an elected body which makes it public. Once its public its a matter for the public to form an opinion.
Yet even in such a system there are accomodations for ‘strategic projects and labs’ but these too have a covert system of oversight but given the nature of the project handled by such entities the priority is to spend as much as can be afforded to make it succeed. So the missile programe will be tarred and feathered in public for being ineffective or delayed but the payload will NEVER be discussed in public. Yet they are both interlinked.
Now I am assuming that since you dont have such an agency you are neither an authority on the concept of oversight nor would you make an effective critic.
12,500kg max thrust.
Yep thats what the IAF proudly posts on all its displays of the MKI. But then its logically illogical if you speak to folks who have something or the other to do with things like this.

How is the Brahmos a LO missile, as claimed by Indians? Look at the photos. The Brahmos is an old-fashioned design with a MiG-21 style nose intake. It is not even a modern missile design. How is it LO?

Well India did buy two new kilo class sub the first in 1997( INS Sindhurakshak ) and the second in 2000( INS Sindhushastra ) , so your point of the youngest subs being 12 years old is plain rubbish ………

I don’t get it, is it then confirmed that PV-2 took to the skies if the MMR is being tested on a Light Combat Aircraft?
I reckon its been integrated and they are doing whatever interface and static testing they can before its cleared for taxi trials (low and high) before flight. Given the openess and the importance of the PV2 they wouldnt be keeping it a secret if it did fly.
Remember PV2 is also the ordinance testing platfrom hence we should also be seeing active pylons/hardpoints instead of anti-flutter loads.
Six MKI for 100,000 tons of chickens. I wonder how much that would be in soyabeans. Does anyone know the soyabean-chicken exchange rate??
Lava:
I think the indians would love Russian roasted chicken with Indian spices in a zesty israeli marinade and one of them foo foo french white wine…off course the indians always claim that the crunchyness in the chicken is due work of indians chefs after the chickens were delivered and that the russian ‘took our permission’ to add crunchiness back to their original chicken. THen the soyabean crowd would say that the chickens were always crunchy its just the russians didnt like them that way and that their taste changed over time. 😀

I am somewhat satified. 😉 If it say 1978 and RAF Jag, then 78 it is. So does this mean from 78 to 91 they were flying overwing Magic on the Jag and in 91 they shifted to the sidewinder? Or does this mean that they ‘tested’ an overwing magic in 78, established the proof of concept, and since the Jags in the RAF had a different role (?) they didnt bother using it on a full scale till 1991 and with the sidewinder.

Your fudging and confusing things for no reason, it clearly states that the Jaguar International was offered by SEPECAT with overwing rails, this was in the mid 70s. So please let me know of ANY Indian involvment with the initial development of these rails. There is none. Are you now denying that the Jaguar International was offered with overwing missile rails?
Ok the story thus far:
1968: Jag first flew
1973: Enter French AF service
197?: Enter RAF service?
1975: Jags ‘displayed’ with overwing pylon (???)
1979: Jags come to India (no mention of any overwing pylon)
1980-81: No.14 becames ops , followed by No.5 in 81. Not clear if ASTE undertakes Overwing mod for Magic as pre-DARIN or DARIN.
1981: DARIN starts on the IAF Jags
1982-1985: DARIN makes its first flight, gets IOC and FOC.
1991: RAF inducts overwing pylon for its fleet of Jag to carry the Sidewinder.
If the above is correct, all you need to do is state when and who flew the first overwing AAM and disprove that ASTE had any hand in it. Easy as pie.

Sean you need to QUOTE the entire statement…I am referring to the operational MKI: which are referred to as 1st batch/Mk.1, 2nd batch/Mk.2 and 3rd batch/Mk.3-full MKI spec. Since the a/c of the No.24 are referred to has Su-30K and MK, the first batch of the No.20 was referred to (erroniously) as MK-1….everything from the first batch of No.20’s a/c are MKI not MK-1/MK-2/MK-3=MKI.
