Thanks for pics PP . Mine were taken by my Samsung phone ,you must have been quite busy to take so many shots . How did you manage the clear and high view-point for the EAP ? Going back to the FW 190 , hope I am not being too pedantic but what do you think is the werk nommer ? you say 584219 ,Aeroplane monthly say 733682 and Flypast mag say 313 ( definitely not this one ,313 was scrapped after evaluation). Finally all forum members welcome – How many would be interested in a guided tour with background info along the way ?

Greetings to all , glad the MBCC and rest of RAF Cosford Museum is appreciated . I am a humble volunteer explainer due next on Monday 18th on ” Fun n Flight ” and hope the Typhoon is still accessible then. My first call is to see the ” new ” FW190 featured in P6 December edition . Can any forum member help me on this question ? I have posted a remark about the FW being described as 131 . It cannot be this number as Armin Faber’s FW was scrapped after the full evaluation ( also his was a 3 , the Cosford exhibit is an 8 ). In answer to Oldgit158 ‘s complaints , there are pretty strict restraints on certain exhibits and this includes restraints on the public being allowed to crawl over aircraft on display whether in the MBCC or any other part of the museum . I repeat that I am an unpaid but very experienced volunteer but I am sure that management and Museum Assistants would agree with these views. We all enjoy ( well nearly all ! )enjoy being there and would be happy to show OG158 ( or any other forum users ) around on any day with or without events listed on our website.

I have not been on-line for years but noticed on page 6 of the December edition a small feature on the FW 190 that is now on display at RAF Cosford . I was getting quite excited that it is said to be No. 313 . Sadly it is not , No 313 was flown by Armin Faber , the pilot that famously landed one of the latest variants at RAF Pembrey in June 1942 and was scrapped after a lengthy evaluation. The FW 190 at Cosford is apparently 733682 recovered from Denmark . It is still worth seeing though and if you go soon you can take in the annual MBCC open days this month.

    Cheap camera …..

Agree with Black Kettle . I use the later Panasonic FZ 30 . this still has the Leica lens but with better OIS ( image stabilization ) , 8 + mp , after practice it’s very easy to use. If you look around you may be able to get one closer to £200 as the price has dropped following the intro of the FZ50 which has 10+mp . See review in Which .co.uk . Do not be tempted to get a compact ,they’re just not up to the job. Good Luck. AG39

    ” Angels One Five ” daily mail 13.02.09 p32

” Angels One Five ” is 15000 ft and not a nickname as written here.

Also the DVD cover shows wings and DFC (?) above RH breast pocket . I have always seen wings ,brevets etc on opposite side ie LH ( heart) side. Can anyone put me right ?

    Cheers ,AVGAS39.

PS .( Feb 17.09 ) I’ve cracked it – the illustration has been reversed , the “RAF ” in the centre of the wings is obviously reversed ( at my tender age I needed a mag glass to see it )

    Paul F and Ringway

I was on ATC there and still remember Yorks on long finals westbound straight and level over Stockport miles away. It was the only way to land them. From Local Control we could see Jodrell Bank clearly.

    earliest aviation memory?

At the age of about 6 or 7 (1945?) walking along a road by RAF Templeton, Pembs. and seeing a silver Percival Proctor on dispersal about 30 yds away. From then I can trace my fascination/obsession with all things connected with aviation ,running out to see jets flying above our house on a low flying route,DH Rapides from Cambrian Aviation flying to Ireland . The last five Fireflies low level eastbound from Brawdy heading for the scrapyard . Brawdy air days and so on ,so on.

    Islander over Worcester ?

    Snotty,

This has been puzzling me as well. I agree it can not be surveying or photography. E-mail me and I might give you a clue.
