It’s a very good copy of the F 22, that impression; lol

just isn’t as good looking as the F 22 😉

always copying, can’t they do anything themselves?

The bigegst waste was thenumber of different aircraft in operation while even the US rapidly started to go to a high low mix with just 2 designs, the UK did it with 4 different designs, the second is the low level of coorperation in europe which was in the past a big problem, then never get along, they never agree on anything

The least waste of money in my eyes are still the vanguard subs with nukes, because fear and deterrence are priceless in any conflict, definately today with china, india, pakistan, iran soon and others obtaining larger numbers of mass destruction weapons, europe needs it independent nucleair arsenal, now more then in the cold war, because the world isn’t as certain any more.

the A-109’s were a mistake in my opion to buy, too small to carry troops or passengers, and not very good as a anti-tank platform.

I’d agree the EH101 is the best money can buy, but there is our problem….money (we are on athight budget with the navy requiring new frigates, the F16’s to need replacements in the next 5-10 years ), the NH 90 is a bit smaller and alot cheaper, i’m shure it can do the job of replacing our proud fleet of sea kings, hell we will get more then 5 this time 🙂

If i wanted a carrier i shure would not go for the invincible, it has too manny design flaws

    – desk space is too limited to be a pure carrier, the large island doesn’t add to the usefullness of space ,a decent vstol carrier should be at least 25000 tons with 230 meter in length and 40-45 meters in wide with a small compact island compared to the crammed 209 meters and 36 meter beam of invincible’s deck with a huge island
-same goes for the hanger off course that is too small, the lifts sould be at the edge of the deck too increase internal room and to be operational at all times

all of this leads to a tiny airgroup under normal operations of just 6-8 planes and equal helicopters

    Ahh…

They have for now…I’m talking upwards of 15-20 years in the future.

I say that ex-Invincibles are possibilities in the future, not now…

“Brazil is a interesting case and surely not the norm. Regardless, the Sao Paulo and the ex-Kuwaiti Skyhawks will have make do for another 10-15 years at least. After that its a “BIG” question mark! The old French carrier is rather small and can’t carry many of the newer generation Naval Aircraft. Further, only a very few countries build such naval fighters. (Russia, US, and France)..”

    Yes…the huge question mark.

It can’t carry on much past 2020 nor can it’s aircaft….as much as I love the Skyhawk. It hinges on the government commitment to naval aviation at that point. If it’s good…..Ex-RN is a very viable option.

    LOL

you gonna exchange a 32.000 ton carrier for a 19.000 ton midget hibrid, crammed cruiser……….????
and claim that will do better?? in the future

okay that’s the joke of the year

for those not to smart, you can put anything that can land on a 19.000 ton CVL on a 32.000 carrier

I agree that Belgium is a possibility.

nice, some new ships, anything beats our old wandelaar stuff, but this is the first i heard of it

belgium will by new helicopters in a joint armed forces program, the question is when (delays delays) and what???

i don,’t really believe this theory as bumping between us and russian subs was not a rarity in the old days and if the kursk plotted a targeting solution on the us sub afterwards and opened her tubedoors i think the US has a strong case for self defense anyway and would not go to all the trouble to hide it.

also the fact that russia didn’t wat the rescue crews to come to close to the bow when the rescue attept was made contradicts any of this as i don’t see why you would want to hide an attack on your own vessel?

Obviously that is the real reason, but the story which is the “official” one is that the French wanted to be design leader and some other parties didn’t like that.

that is indeed the reason and probably dissagreement on the workshare division

france did have a point for teh design leader as they had alot more experience with high performance fighters then any of the other participants

well they did the same as the other 4 togheter iin less time, a worthy achievement and a way way better looking aircraft 😉
