The Gripen program isn’t doing all that bad.Hungary,South Africa and the Czech Rep. have all selected the Gripen.Thailand I heard were going to order it to replace their F-5s.Bulgaria,Switzerland and Slovakia are also interested in the Gripen to replace their Mig-29s and F/A-18s.Informal discussions have also been held with India and Pakistan.
While it may noy be in serve with many countries yet,it does appear to be going better then the Eurofighter 2000 and Rafale programs as far as exports.

switzerland is not going to replace any brnd new F18’s with gripens, they are then meant to replace the F5 fleet, as switserland onlt has 32 f18’s , where do you get such a crazy idea?

I don’t think a name is such a big deal, it’s a ship sunk under the purpose of tests. (Personally i value the name enterprise alot more 😉 )

as for the america’s choice, it’s the only carrier resembling modern carriers, a forrestal is outdated design

anything is better then the scrapyard, i hope we get to see the go down on tv

    Hi all

Many people says the Eurofighter and Rafale is comparable in performance, effectiveness and stuff. But if you see that evaluation performed by the Britain’s DERA (Defense Evaluation and Research Agency) used to evaluate the Eurofighter’s and others fighters’ BVR capabilities against an Su-35 plane, the results of 82% for the EF2000 and 50% for the Rafale is a big diference between them. I mean, 32% is a lot of gap in effectiveness between these two planes! Where is the “comparable in performance”?

If anyone is interested in reading the article, here’s the link:

    Comments will be appreciated.

    Thanks

you do need to read anything comming out of britain with a grain of salt, off course europfighter will do alot better in any! british test, it’s called marketing your own products with a wink to foreign sales and securing own funds for aquiring the jet.

It’s quite funny to see how Boeing’s marketing people can label a 33 year old fighter as their “newest fighter”. 😀

because it still kicks everything up in the air to the moon if it get’s in his way? even after 33 years

you’ll have to take into account the limitations of foch’s catapults
a rafale would be severely limited in warload, only air to air armament would really be practical

a simple stopwatch, like in the old days you launched a torpedo and you knew how long it would take for the torpedo to impact, so you follow on the stopwatch, if you didn’t here a bang anter the calculated time, you well missed 😀
