Baby can quite acceptably operate under the bmi AOC. The company is in essence, only a brand. Just as long as the 737 is put back on the bmi AOC there would be no problem.

bmi is an outfit that desperately needs to be streamlined. They hold three AOCs, one for the mainline, one for regional and one for baby. Their cost base is huge, but if the whole operation was put under one AOC the likelyhood is that many savings would follow.

Just a small tip. Don’t take any of the marketing rubbish OAT throw at you. The APP is a fine course, but there’s no difference from the full time modular except for an extra £20k on your bill. I’ve made the change across from the APP to the Mod route and I’m so glad I did.

I know the guy who is running the ‘new’ Caledonian through a friend and all I can say is they won’t be around long. He planned to start under the brand ‘Classair’ about 12 months ago and then got bored an abandoned it when he got offered a job with a well known charter airline as an FO. It would seem that job fell through and now he is back to try and relaunch the airline under a different name.

    Avoid at all costs!

I was at Air Atlantique on tuesday and did a walk around of G-DRFC which is going to be operating the LBA-LCY route. On tuesday it was still all white but it is going down to Southend in the next few days to be painted in the special promotional livery. I was lucky enough to see the plans for the livery and it looks more like the bmibaby livery than the mainline one. But it’s very colourful. G-IONA is going to stay in Atlantique colours and will be operating the Man-Gla route for bmi.

Interestingly Atlantique say that bmi might have problems operating the aircraft out of LCY in the summer as the engines aren’t powerful enough to get the bird off the deck in the heat.
