Afraid so!! :p Sandy, I’ve cancelled my flight to EDI on the 24th and 25th, I’ve decided to drive up instead, means I have more flexibility to see friends etc when I’m up there. I’ll still be coming along for the meet though so if you like I’ll give you a spin!!

In Airliner World a few months back I remember reading in the news that both American and Continental were doing a fesibility study into flying to BRS, haven’t heard anything about NCL though.

Germanwings is a joint venture between Lufthansa and Eurowings, not sure how it’s split, but I’d imagine that LH have the majority share seeing as they own 49% of Eurowings.

Well, after several days of contemplation and chatting with family, friends and easyJet cews! I’ve decided to take some time out and start again. I know I could have got through these exams, but I want decent passes and so I’ve decided to take it from the top again.

A friend of mine is due to start the course in June/July and after talking with her at length about it I’ve agreed to join her on her course. I’ll continue to keep youy all updated.

In the meantime, thanks once again for all your fantastic support!

I haven’t posted on here for a couple of days as I’ve been in Edinburgh where I’ve been shadowing a crew for two days. A friend who is a purser set this up for me so that I could get some experience of what it’s liking working at an airline before I actually do next year.

We were due to start our shift yesterday at 7AM but just before we were due to push back the captain I was flying with (won’t mention his name for obvious reasons) realised our insurance documents were out of date by 7 hours. He called the base which faxed through another document and we were on our way within 40 minutes. However when we arrived at our hotel for our night stop last night we met a Glasgow crew who had not been given the documents but hadn’t realised the error and only noticed when they finished their shift.

All of the guys and girls were saying it had been there worst day in a very long time, was a great insight to be a part of it though!

I think I’ve mentioned this in the past, but in 2001 I managed to get work experience shadowing a BA captain for a week on the 777. We were going to be flying to Rio and back doing a few ferry flights while we were there. Then two weeks before I was due to turn up at the Compass Centre some tw@t saw fit to fly those planes into the WTC and Pentagon, unsuprisingly my work experience was cancelled.

From day one of my ATPL studies I have been told to never let anyone in the jumpseat or for that matter on the flight deck when the engines are running, it’s just too much of a risk these days.

You’ll be allowed a quick look up front when you land depending on the captain’s decision.

Strange, what did you say Allen?

With regards to the cadet scheme I have it on very good authority from three seperate parties at BA that they are unlikely to restart this anytime soon, if at all. There is a huge number of unemployed pilots at the moment, and since 9/11 most wannabe’s are now in the mind set that the only way to make it to the right hand seat is to pay your own way. It’s a sad fact, but sponsorship as we know it is dead.

Thanks for the great advice guys. I’m currently thinking I might just start again in June and blitz it, at the end of the day I’m here to get a license and for no other major reason. I’ve got an interview with the CGI (Chief Ground Instructor) later this week and will keep you informed of the out come.

Thanks once again guys, and to the two younger guys, you really are a credit to the younger members, after all the stupidity of the past few weeks I’m delighted to see you guys leading the way! Keep it up!

    Great pictures guys!

Skycruiser, what is Scottsdale like? I’m out there for four months from September for my basic VFR CPL flight training. I’ve heard great things of the golf out there!
