A couple of other points Damien, I started my ATPL trainig on January 19th last year, not October and there are mostly certainly no ‘numerous versions’ of my flight training. I started on AP234 (who have recently graduated), before moving to AP240 and then going across to modular.

WOW! Not really sure where to start with this one, but obviously you are entitled to your opinion.

Right first off, my training, if you had followed what was going on you would have seen that in October last year I came off the APP at OAT due to family issues, I have since continued with OAT on a modular course, I took leave in February to concentrate on the airline until which point that I can resume my training….it’s a suprising amount of work to run an airline, let alone complete all 14 ATPL groundschool exams, and then complete the actual flying.

Alpha1 Airways, was originally registered as @lpha1 Airways ltd on the 22nd of July last year, we then reregistered as you have noticed the day before the press announcemnet, this was because we replaced the @ with an A and our shareholders changed as I had split from my previous business partner. The original company was registered in Eastbourne, where my former business partner was based.

I never got round to registering superflyboy.com, for the simple fact I ended up being far too busy with training.

I was indeed a youth worker for three years working with 9 to 12 year olds at St Andrew Church here in Oxford. I started that when I was 14 years old as a helper before leading parts of a group myself. I ended up as one of the senior Youth Workers.

The web site went down because we were originally unable to update via FTP, for your information we were paying over £1,450 per year for the hosting. That problem has since been resolved as you can see. The booking engine wasn’t providing accurate availability information and so we dumped the previous team and have since taken up with Nextres (Also made SweFly’s bookig engine) who are working on our new system.

Finally, it would be a bloody stupid thing to do to get so much publicity for something that would eventually come back to bit me in the arse if it weren’t true. Not to mention the amount of money it costs to get a PR agent who can get such publicity.

So there you have it. Sorry to disappoint you, but there really is no exciting story behind this, just a bit of bad luck and a delay in launch…but then again, you’re entitled to your opinion.

I for one hope that Alpha one is successful, my old mans company is based in Peterborough, but he has to travel to oxford 15-20 times a year, and he constantly b-tchs about the “trek” down there and back.

BTW, the colour scheme suits the J31 illustrated on the webpage very well

Glad to hear your Dad may be using the service!

Thank our very own Alexander Richardson (bmused55) for the livery, he has worked on the new logo and livery for the airline.

Thanks for the support guys, I totally agree everyone is free to have their own opinions and I don’t begrudge anyone for it.

The main reason for the dealy lies in the fact that our new investors are based in the United States and there is one hell of a lot of political red tape to get through before the funds can be released to us. This is taking slightly longer than anticipated. However, neary everything else is ready to go and all being well it should be a matter of one or two weeks before we can announce everything. There isn’t really any on off on off factor involved, much like nearly every other airline out there it was on and then it was delayed, no big deal there, the press certainly don’t seem to think so and all of the consultants, pilots, cabin crew and countless other staff we have working for us tend to agree.

We are all working very hard to give you the very best service we can and once we have cut through the red tape which will be in the next week or so, we will be able to offer you what we believe will be one of the best regional air travel products in the UK, flying from Oxford and Cambridge to two additional UK destinations as well as continuing with the shuttle service between the two cities. All will become clear very soon.

I’m just finishing off my CPL/IR pilot training but it’s been put on hold at the moment. I’m also involved in airline management.

I flew LHR to Prague with them several times in the mid 90s on both Fokkers and 737s.

It’s also so that at night when the cabin lights are dimmed for take off and landing your eyes adjust to the light outside of the aircraft in case of an emergency.

Very, very exciting times ahead, I can’t really say much more than that at the moment. We’ve just got some new investment which has not only secured the short to medium term future of the airline, but also the long term future. The first Jetstream will be delivered shortly and our first batch of pilots are preparing to go to BAe for their type rating course. The launch won’t be end of May now, but I’ll keep you updated.

I might just have a day off and I’m working on getting hold of an ID90 ticket to come up to MAN on the 12th! Interesting routing if it works though it will be LCY-MAN-ORK-STN!

BTW: That’s the alphaOne First Officers uniform I’m wearing! The tie, wings and name badge are all OAT though.
