My friend over at BA got offered a move from the 777 to Concorde last year, but declined because he thought that it would increase his chance of losing his job when the aircraft was retired.
Apprently the majority of the captains will retire. Mike Bannister, the chief pilot for concorde and BA short haul is apprently keeping his short haul job. The flight engineers are going to be made redundent and a few of the younger captains, and the first officers will be retrained.
yep sorted now, go to the other thread sorry, accidentally posted twice!
Air France or the new Duo livery.
I’m a part time professional software developer for FS so I’ll have to get FS2004.
The ATC hasn’t been dramatically improved but IFR flight plans can now be started in flight, you can request an alternative airport and yes they finally have sorted out the single runway problem and multiple runways will now be used without having to install extra AFCAD files.
They aren’t yet using real world liveries, but you can either purchase an AI Aircraft add on, the best being Ultimate Traffic from http://www.flight1.com or if you aren’t too phased by learning to use a few simple tools you can use freeware AI which uses real liveries and real timetables. I now have my simulator running about 80% of the worlds flights as they are flown in the real world to the correct schedules. Check out http://www.projectai.com for the freeware stuff….it is endless almost every airline is available via freeware and I would recommend this over purchasing payware traffic.
All AI is compatible with both FS2002 and FS2004!
The main improvement in FS2004 is the weather engine which has finally been brought up to scratch and now offers a very realistic atmosphere which really has a dramatic effect on your flying. This new engine alone makes it worth buying.
Well that’s my two pence on it 🙂
nope, but I’ve gone for the only real independent regional that seems to be going anywhere fast. Lets hope it stays that way and that the likes of Air Wales and Eastern continue to operate independently! 😀
Sounds like a good plan LKGR…lets get back to what we all love, aviation.
Hmmm… Arthur “Bomber” Harris might have something to do with that ?
Suprisingly most Dresdeners have a forgive and forget attitude towards what happened in WW2. In fact one Dresden taxi driver I spoke to said ‘we deserved it’, which I thought was slightly extreme.
Links between the UK and Dresden are very strong these days, in fact our government has given quite a lot of money towards the rebuilding of the city, which is still taking place.
Dresden is set to become the new Prague as a great weekend break destination by 2006 when the city rebuilding is finished. My father used to live in Prague and then moved to Dresden so I have a lot of experience of both cities.
Still, I find it suprising the there are no direct air links.
Yep I got upgraded with Alitalia earlier this year, but I’ll always try to avoid them…not a great experience.
Welcome to the forums Bandit! I hope you enjoy using them.
1) Concorde and short haul fleet captain at BA
2) Pilot with any other airline! (getting there!! 🙂 )
3) CEO of my own airline!
hmm, good question EAL_KING.
1) BA
2) bmi
3) CSA
1. Eastern Airways
2. BA
3. Excalibur (if they were still around)
4. Buzz (Again if they were still around)
It looks very good in the US Airways livery, I’ve only ever seen them in the older USAir one.
I got upgraded from World Traveller to World Traveller Plus twice on one trip. On the way out to Philadelphia we travelled to Heathrow with a friend of mine who works on the 777 with BA, he had a word a check in and got us upgraded.
On the return flight they were asking people to come off the flight as they had overbooked. Myself and three friends opted for this and we were rewarded with $200, free meals for the next 24 hours, a stay in a really nice 5 star hotel and yet another upgrade to World Travellet Plus.
To top it all off we had paid only 2 thirds of the price of an economy ticket!!! One of my friends actually made a £30 profit from the holiday!
