Whilst I would welcome a flying Mosquito in this country I would much prefer to see the Duxford Beaufighter completed and flying always assuming a pair of suitable engines can be sourced,I suppose a Mk IIF with Merlins would be alternative.I have contributed to VTTS for several years and was considering stopping my subscription.I seem to recollect that Biggin Hill is going to restore another Mosquito in collaboration with Avspecs? in New Zealand.

Whilst I didn’t go to Clacton I only live about 10′ away and was aware of XH 558s display slot, but she caught me out by approaching from the SW and doing a steep turn right over my house at about 2000′ I guess before departing to the W right into the sun using plenty of throttle,I was expecting an approach from the Wattisham direction as in previous years. Also my last view of the Old Gal in flight in guess.

This was definitely Strasbourg as I was driving home from Switzerland and I’ve not been to Faro.

Is my memory deceiving me but do I remember a Connie being used as a restaurant somewhere on the outskirts of Strasbourg ?? It would have been late 60s or early 70s.

From the BBMF schedule Little Gransden is a display at 1435 then a Flypast at Bourn at 1445 so only a short display.

The last time I saw XH558 she was en route to Clacton having done a FP at Wattisham. She tracked over Manningtree and Lawford and W of the Bradfield mast (an old 405 lines transmitter now used for many other things ). 1400 at Marham would make her 1420ish over Manningtree.
