    hmmmm….maybe in 5 years time the new Iraqi AF will have F-16Es and F-15A+. We can all keep dreaming. 😀

    Yeah and the Hawk could shot Skyflash/Sparrow with the proper modifications. Maybe it wasn’t worth it with so many other dedicated fighters around.

    Say how does the Hawk 200 compare with the Sea Harrier FA.2 ? Both have non-afterburning engines and both are small.

    The Hawk 200 might be an attractive proporsition for a smaller airforce/country with less manpower like Brunei. For Indonesia and Malaysia i think armed Tucanos/PC-9 would have suited just as well. How does Hawk 200 compare with MiG-21 Bison ?

    F-20A all the way but then again i am bias :D. The Fulcrum has the IRST to its advantage. F-20 has more modern cockpit layout, MiG-29 has high workload cockpit though the soviet pilots are probably well adapted to such designs.

    The F-20 is also a small target very hard to spot. MiG-29 got smoky engines then. I give the Mig the edge in close in missile combat because of the Archer and HMS.

    Had M4k made it into production it would be interesting to see take the nuclear role of the M2kN. You can safely bet that Dassault would also produce a 4000D conventional striker and maybe a 4000-5 2nd generation model.

    So only 3 airforces operate the Hawk 200 right ?
    Maybe its usefulness is pretty limited and it isn’t cheap either. I don’t like the idea of the external gunpod waste a of hardpoint that could be used for other more useful stores. Since the provisions for 2 internal guns still exist why not fit the DEFA or earlier ADEN instead ?

    Didn’t the Japanese gave nicknames to the F-2 and OH-X as Falcon-Zero and Ninja respectively ?

    1 squadron F-15D, 3 squadron F-16CJ, 2 squadron M2KD on the island base.

    Using the F-14D units to provide a fighter screen launch from land bases 2 squadrons of terminators in multiple waves loaded with Popeye and Maverick/Spice escoted by several pairs of F-15D(fuel fastpack) and F-16CJ(air refuelled or island) with Harm and JSOW to handle the port airbase to prevent/reduce reinforcement.

    Then launch M2kD in separate waves to attack the fortification armed with Apache and SLAM-ER escorted by the F-15D unit and elements of the F-14D squadrons and at least 8 F-16CJs.

    Once the fortification have been weakened the marines will land under cover from the carrier based F-18Ds armed with rockeye and mavericks.

    Lastly launched another group of F-4E terminators with Popeye escorted by F-16CJ from the island to blow the carrier in the dock.

    In addition I would deploy my AWACS and tanker forces from the mainland bases to support the operation.

    Here is the model of the Land Carrier that appeared in some anime event.

    In the original OAV there is also a sadistic ex-SVAF jocky in a F-105D. Likes to blast ejected enemies out of the sky.

    Sounds a bit like Kaoru Shintani’s Area 88 😀

    I would probably get elder McCoy to supply F-20 Tigersharks or F-29 FSW Retaliators to supplement the older F-5s armed with Python 4, Meteor and Taurus. 😀

    Then i would convert the older F-4J and A-4/F-5 into remote piloted flying bombs to deal with the land carrier.

    I would also invest in large numbers of SAMs and portable anti armour rockets.
    Lastly i would build large retractable sky fences to deter low level attacks on key installations. 😀
