GAWD! Is nothing Sacred to the Scumb Bags of Today?!!

Those low lifes would have seen that it was part of a Memorial, I`ll restrain from using strong language!

I would agree that CCTV does help, but only if used properly to gain varying evidence, and as already mentioned not just images of “Hoodies” doing the thieving. Its no good pointing just a single live camera at an object on its own, i.e, other cameras at entry points/other places would have to be used to gain as much info as possible for the Police. Something that needs thought, and money.

If caught they should have to pay a large some of the money used for having to install such a system, and be forced to do at least community 200hrs community service I say!

As everyone else is no doubt doing, we`ll keep our eyes peeled too.

Is nothing sacred today? Absolutey Disgraceful!

    1) Remains of three mossies at Thruxton
    2) Fusalage of lanc in River Orwell. Anyone know of the aviation group that apparently went fishing? Fusalage allegedly could still be there?
    3) Remains of a lanc (abandoned) be found say under the sands at the Qinetiq Environmental Test Centre Foulness Island?

Oh…and a Fourth mossie just located up my left nostril!! Sorry – could not resist, just happy the Bank Holiday is upon us in the U.K!:D

Have a good weekend everyone, wherever you may be!

Well Done Everyone, whatever the state of preservation!

From my point of view without preservation there would be no motivation!

I look at the projects you guys and girls are doing and it really is amazing, and just enthuses one to get involved.

I`ve been gagging to get up to Brunty as I can`t get over to Thunder City yet, so my apologies! Pete, fantastic job with that panel of yours and of course FM159! I have also met Stuart and seen his handy work! NICE!

I`ll try not to go off subject but as group members of the British Aviation Preservation Council we have access to the National Aviation Heritage Skills Initiative that some of our volunteers attend, even those like myself with no aviation experience and personally I am just enthralled to learn, get involved, and to do things “properly”. We are trying to do the “preservation” thing, and in some respects this would be “conservation” (lets please forget the formalities just now) but with an aerodrome at present, but thats on another thread so I shall shut my trap!;) Said aerodrome is just under two hours from where I live so, yes, travelling is a thorn in ones side with any project. There are only so many hours available to do ones passion!!

Anyway, a Bigs Thanks to all you guys and girls “doing something” that inspires others out there so much. My next stop will be the XH558 thread, but my, I cannot wait to see her fly again, whatever the controversy!

Heres to all the aircraft preservations out there!

    Like No Other

It`s a real shame that the media do not do “something” in rememberance, even just say a 30 minute programme.

Sorry, but it really peeves me that such people, that were pivotal to the aviation world in the Twentieth Century do not get a look-in these days. Sure C4 could sacrifice some “Big Brother” air time surely?.

Indeed, R.I.P Mr Chadwick, and thanks for producing a solid, safe kite for our boys, which was “..like driving a bus” according to a Lanc Skipper relative of mine!

    WE FIGHT ON!!!!!

    Hello All!

Just a small update, after all it has been a while!

For those just visiting please pop over our website where we have an on-line petition:

    http://www.bc-heritage.org/bicester/

The first half of 2007 has seen us presenting our museum proposal to local parish councils and supporting Windrushers with their efforts to keep former RAF Bicester as an active flying field.

We are trying our best to utilise local media in our Campaign and yesterday attended an outside broadcast from the former RAF aerodrome with Radio Oxford.

Good support from the local parish councils has been received. However we have to be cautious due to the fact that there have been at least two developments spoken of, one being quite close to the aerodrome boundary. We need as many letters in support of a Bomber Command museum on site, so please write to the address located on our website as soon as possible please.

We would very much like to hear anyone who has any recollections of life at RAF Bicester during wartime.

Let us not sit back and watch the Technical site collapse! If you are local to the aerodrome, and wish to see flying remain and would like to be more pro-active with such an important issue on your doorstep, please contact us via our website and we will be in touch!

    Thanks again!

Can anyone tell me who Stuart Burbridge is? If you are already amongst us come forth please. I have yet to look at the petition properly yet, but will of course sign! Note we are new to the Aviation Forum, so my apology if I should already know this info.

I would side with Tangmere on this. During the research into my families BC History, relatives agree that a medal should have been struck, and the same goes for Veterans too.

In my mind remembrance is the key. My personal view is that there should have been a rather grander National Memorial to ALL those that served with RAF Bomber Command, those of the Commonwealth and Free Forces Squadrons. In my simplistic mind too many Battle of Britian Memorials to the few, and not enough for the Many. No offence to those that served in the Battle of Britain, a balance is due I believe.

Thats my fivers worth, before I get a Hurricane or Spit on me tail!!;)

Good luck Mr Stuart Burbridge! Come Forth and let Ye be known!

Oh, and a Merry Christmas from all of us here at BCH to everyone too! 😀

The last time I saw RR299 was at Dunsfold when I was fifteen in 1986.. what a magical sight. Have located a slide of her, on climb out, but a big shame as the image is a bit out of focus so I shall not post! Anyway, images of the Kemble Mossie on the website, and small video of the creator doing a tad bit of laminating too!

    Enjoy!

In The BCD interview with the local rag, they said “We would not rule out further colaboration with devolopers, if that was the only option.” Sorry, there are no options. The airfield stays as it is, an active flying airfield..

Yep, avro683, you are absolutely correct! That answer given during the interview for the article written by the Bicester Advertiser, is to simply state that we want to make sure the social history of the airfield does not disappear if re-development occured, or the whole site just abandoned to rot. We wish to make sure that at least the history is told in some way. This would require a museum, however small on site. I just want to add BCH is Pro-Aviation and wish to see the flying field remain active! Some of the BCH team either have ties to the RAF, (I myself am related to a Lanc Skipper) and others have been/are involved in the aviation industry, so would prefer for those aviation activities to continue! Bascially we like planes! 🙂

As you have mentioned Windrushers is still, and will continue to be active on the airfield which is great news. Windrushers have of course had a long affiliation with RAF Bicester. Please visit their site for more info and go book a few tows!

    http://www.windrushers.org.uk

Basically we just want to help in whatever way we can to make sure the legacy of RAF Bicester survives, if that makes sense. Sorry, been a hard day!

    Thanks.

    We continue to forge ahead!

    Hi All!

Just to let those of you that are interested we seem to have stirred up quite a bit of interest which is great for the RAF Bicester Campaign. Obvously many people out there suffer the “British Disease” that its not worth showing an interest in such a cause, but we have hardened up to that kind of attitude, and are getting some extremely good responses. At such a time of year, i.e Armistice Day, to think of those that trained at RAF Bicester, never to return, it is quite sad that people say there is “No History” to the site.

Please have a look at the press release that came out during the end of September.

    http://www.bicesteradvertiser.net/misc/print.php?artid=938358

For those of you that have just popped in, if you have an interest in historic aviation, please go to the on-line petition that can be found on our website:

    http://www.bc-heritage.org

We are particularly looking for people that served there, especially during the WWII Period, or relatives that may wish to share stories.

I can also supply hard copies of our petition form to people who may wish to stick them up on the wall in thier local flying club, or to distribute amongst friends or relatives. No rude comments about where it could be placed either thank you!

From all the Team at BCH, thanks for posting to this thread.

    More at a later date!

    Best regards

Can I just say a very BIG THANKS to everyone who has been signing the petition from all corners of the World! FANTASTIC!! 😀 May it continue!
