It doesn’t matter to you now, but for anyone else venturing to DSA.
We flew with TOM from Donny to Valencia. Airport is very compact, not much to do airside (newsagent and a cafe), but as it’s so quiet everything is done really quickly. On our return from getting off the aircraft to getting in the car with our luggage took just 15 minutes! Car park is right outside the terminal so no need to get on a bus.
Road signs for the airport don’t start until the motorway junction you need to take, then there is plenty of signage.
My only concern is back up for technical problems. No doubt minor repairs can be sorted, but anything major could cause real delays.
We saw a C17 Globemaster coming in to land which is not something you see every day!
This is like a flight we took last year – Penang to Singapore on a 777! About 100 pax and a trip of 50 minutes.
It’s not that long ago that the only MY a/c you would see at MAN were 777s!
Did the pilot of this flight get lost last night? Ops were on rwy 14 at LBA – flights coming from the east usually track over Menwith Hill before turning left for finals. Last night at 17.15 I heard an aircraft over our house to the west of Leeds and it was the Swefly 767 at fairly low level. It then flew to the south of Bradford so I assume it then turned right for finals. The flight left just over an hour later. It was the first time I’ve seen an a/c make this approach for 14.
I went on a Dash 7 for the first and probably last time last year. Berjaya Air of Malaysia use them on routes to the islands. Pangkor airstrip is about 1500 ft long and the Dash 7 coped v well. It’s also the first time I’ve sat facing the rear of the aircraft!
They are also the only airline using the old KL airport – imagine Heathrow airport only being used by Air South West and you get the picture!
Yes it’s been done before – a colleague used the service and hated every second. She even considered booking a flight from one of the stop offs onward to Oz and rebooking her return with a scheduled carrier.
The terminal looks exactly the same as LPL – that will be because it is!!!
Not been to Vienna, but if it’s anything like Salzburg it will be worth leaving the airport for the Sacha Torte (or some other calorie laden cake) alone!!
Treviso isn’t Venice and Liverpool isn’t Manchester! Other than that the routes are identical.
I would have flown to LCY from LBA a few weeks ago – the ticket price was reasonable, but the additional charges levels at LCY are so high it meant I went by train, which still cost £70. The amount of rail engineering going on means getting cheap rail fares is almost impossible as GNER can’t say which services will be running from one week to the next.
One of the Flightdeck programmes is a flight to Malaga on an Air Leisure (remember them?) 737. They commented on the tricky approach due to the mountains, but they did land towards the sea.

I have some shots from half a day spent in the viewing park on Saturday. I’m trying to download them, but it keeps saying they are too large – above 600 kb even though the properties box say they are about 200kb – they are smaller than 800×600 pixels! Any advice?

I’m trying to upload. Image sizes are all less than 200k on my disk (and the image sizes are smaller than those already uploaded by others), but when I try and upload the website says they are 600kb+. Why?
