CAR C-130 (post # 65 above)
reply to cthornburg ;
hello Chris,
thanks for the excellent pic , probably of the (only ?) one reg TL-KNK , as you can see it in
Small AF thread # 13 p 22 …)
BUT I don’t think it was a military one ….!
till now, the only ‘military ‘photo’ is this one ;
http://xairforces.net/galleryd.asp?id=56&galleryid=487 (already published before )
BUT as some colleagues told me earlier, it’s a fake /PS one …
just compare it with the original view :
http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?aircraftsearch=&airlinesearch=&placesearch=&countrysearch=&adv_remark=&photographersearch=®search=&cnsearch=&codesearch=&datesearch=&id=1444709&yearsearch=&specialsearch=&specialsearch2=&sort_order=photo_id+desc&page_limit=15&thumbnails=&advanced_search=true&engine_version=6.0(idem )
in my POV, it remains possible a military painted one existed… with real convincing markings !!
THUS … the question remains OPEN ..

ETIENNE
most recent ECA news !!
just for the photo’s ; http://www.glasistre.hr/multimedija/pula_istra/u-pulu-iz-splita-hidroavionom-stigli-prvi-putnici-497671
but NOTHING concerning their ‘phantom’ Grumman Goose 🙁

Hello, dear C-130’s colleagues,
I was glad to discover this immortal thread, started more than 10 years ago !!
How many operators ? then & now ? ! :confused:
Searching regularly to have a better view of all the ‘users’, I’ve made serious progresses,
recently, in the Small AF thread #16, p 49 …….;
WITH MANY THANKS to all the answering colleagues of ‘there’ !!
as starting point, I have this Wiki-list (not fully correct) ;
…………..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_C-130_Hercules#Operators
>>>>>you have to add ; Abu Dhabi, Zaïre, Qatar, Vietnam, DRC,.
But, altough cited -here & elsewhere- I don’t consider these ‘phantom’ operators ;
Angola, Central African Republic, Eritrea, Hungary, Liberia & Syria
>>>>>>>>>Until “proof to the contrary” i.e. real pics with convincing markings !!
For now, I conclude so ; 70 current operators & 3 former ones …..
I’d like to know your POV & comments, mainly about the 6 above-cited phantoms…
‘out of competition’ ;:D ; this former Soviet one (in the James Bond film “The living daylights”);

Lookoing forward to read from you,

Call me ‘old fashioned ‘ ……
Given Belgium’s rapidly ageing population,
I recently got 70 !! yes !!
But in Belgium live MANY younger people, believe me !! ;http://i.huffpost.com/gen/444061/images/r-TINTIN-600×275.jpg

let’s not forget our former Navy ones !!

Hello, ALEX,
according to wikipedia, the Be-12 operators are/were ;

Russia
Russian Naval Aviation received ex-Soviet Union aircraft. Nine Aircraft still in operation with the Black Sea Fleet.[4]
Soviet Union
Soviet Naval Aviation passed their aircraft to successor countries: Russia and Ukraine.
Syria
Syrian Air Force[citation needed]
Ukraine
Ukrainian Naval Aviation received ex-Soviet Union aircraft.
Vietnam
Vietnam People’s Air Force – 4 aircraft were exported to Vietnam in 1981.

nearly finishing my ww-C-130 collection !!
in the wikipedia list of C-130 operators, one can find also “HUNGARY” !!
>> till now, I can’t find any pics of it..
IIRC, at least one was used recently by NATO, with small Hungarian AF markings,
AND there was a good view in one of the previous KP threads….. (but where ?)
Can you help ?
friendly,
Etienne
more about C-130’s……….
thanks again, Dear Colleagues, for all the fine supplements ; about Afghanistan, Unified Vietnam, FAZ, Angola, Tchad,….
concerning the first photo in your post # 1449, Greg , don’t confuse A.D.A.F & UAE.A.F. ; markings are (were ?) different
>> I have to show you this ; http://www.airlinefan.com/photos/memberdir887/watermarked/medium_wm_7450041.jpg
wishing you all a fine week-end,

continuing /nearly ending THE ‘ww’-C-130’s collection……….
MANY THANKS, Gerard, Gkozak & MSphere, for the MANY interesting views !!!
in the wikipedia ‘starting’-list you may add ;
Abhu Dhabi (*)
RDC (FAC)
(former) Zaïre (*)
Gerard ; the green country is not RDC (still existing !) but (our !) former Zaïre !
MSphere ; The Vietnamese ones are not visible ! (*)
; no problems for Afghanistan (*)
(*) pics on request
still having serious DOUBTS for (military !) : Eritrea, Syria & Angola
TO BE CONTINUED with pleasure….
friendly,
ETIENNE
Continuing my ‘ww’-C-130 collection…….
i just had a look to the most recent wikipedia’s POV ; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_C-130_Hercules#Operators
but it’s most probably not 100% correct ; so e.g. I don’t agree for LIBERIA…
…….. OK for Afghanistan (!) & Ethiopia(*) ; both countries got recently (more) recent ones !
(*) I cannot find any views with their national roundel !!
… about Angola :
Angolan Air Force
Received 6 C-130K, 3 L-100-20, and 2 L-100-30 aircraft. None in flying condition now.
what are the ‘former’ countries (in green) on the map (Asia & Africa) ?
friendly,
Etienne
many thanks, MSphere (& Gerard), for THE view ; the RDC marking is ‘well’ visible on the fuselage !!
friendly,
Etienne
An other question !
in order to (try to) complete my ‘ww’-C-130 collection, I’d like to see a convincing view of
one of the RDC, i.e. with such a marking ; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Force_of_the_Democratic_Republic_of_the_Congo
thanks in advance,
friendly,
Etienne
Belgian (?) MINIMAX (posts # 1419 & 1420)
many thanks, J.V. & Gerard, for your ‘search & find’ !!!!
