Btw this is how PAF takes pictures at the commencement & end of exercises with a single example of each participating aircraft type & all the contingent members. Examples
Al-Saqoor1

Al-Saqoor2

Indus Vipers13

Going by the neighbor’s logic only a single Tiffy, Single Eagle & a single Viper took part in these exercises. Logic is a scarce commodity it seems in my neighborhood.

The number of aircraft in the contingent have been posted on a Pakistani forum & mentioned many times over as being close to 20 including support. Frankly I don’t think Pakistani members should try to prove the numbers just to massage the asinine egos of a few trolls. Why is it whenever the neighbors post in a Pakistan thread, the discussion veers off topic & into stupid asinine inanities? Grow up both sides!

This year the PLAAF contingent is comprised of J-10s & J-7Es. No Flankers of any kind in this exercise this time.

Fedaykin can you give a description of the advert?
I personally know one of the officers (now retd) from our Mirage 2000 induction project. The issue was yes bribes from Dassault taken by some politicians (also implicated the incumbent prez) which then obviously led to increased prices (much more so than would be justified as bribe recovery). The French knew of our predicament (our plans for a 100+ F-16 fleet scuppered) & after the bribes they decided to squeeze a LOT more out of the deal than the price agreed upon. The bribe news once leaked became an easy excuse to get out of the deal which would have been economically untenable. Pakistan’s economy was just getting out of the deflation it went into under PMLN’s 1st Govt & was still on a shaky footing at the time of the deal.
I know this was OT but I love the Mirage 2K5 & would have loved to see it in our colours.
P.S I see a lot of posters here being dismissive of the JF-17. I wish the PAF would allow another comprehensive article on the type’s service to be published especially the DACT results from the last High Mark series. Would surprise many people. People may dismiss it but it fits our needs like a glove apart from range & we a re pretty darn happy with it.

FOC is generally an incremental process (integration of weapons & logistics, tactics development & implementation, setting up of a training core/cadre for the system) in all airforces with new aircraft achieving it sometime after service acceptance.

Comedic value of the thread aside, to correct one misunderstanding, the wing operating JF-17s has been re-classified from the Tactical attack to the Multirole mission & both squadrons have achieved IOC with 26 sqdrn very close to FOC (within next 6-8 months if it goes to schedule).
The weapons which have been integrated as of present are
1) AAMs: Pl-5E, PL-9C, MAA-1A, MAA-1B, AIM-9L/M & SD-10 B.
2) AGMs/ASHMs: C-802/3, C-802AKG, Raad & MAR-1
3)Guided Bombs: PavewayII series, Chinese equivalent of JDAMS, H-2 & H-4 plus a chinese winged glide bomb
Apart from above add the normal dumb munitions & integration for a few other weapons including ‘special’ is currently underway.

Not officially out yet, but it was a birdstrike/ingestion leading to an engine fire or flameout. Sqdrn Leader Hussain was trying to get to Kamra in all probability. He would have made it had he succeeded in cresting the hill. Kamra was only a few klicks over.

A case of pot calling the kettle black, Pakistanis can easily reffer to the case of sepoy Maqbol Hussain (in the public eye in Pakistan) wrt treatment (or lack thereof ) of POWs by both sides.
What is done by both sides is inexcusable so lets leave it at that & since this thread is about the PAF, I’d appreciate it if the other faction chooses to keep it’s gripes limited to their own national threads on this forum & not derail or troll in my national thread.
Thankyou.

Pictures of the tail from every which angle were being posted on blogs, forums & websites on the same day as the raid.
Children in Abbotabad were selling pieces of the wreckage as souveniers to all & sundry. The thing was open to every T,D & H who wanted to lay their hands on it for a good couple of weeks before it was moved & given back after John Kerry made a trip to Pakistan.
First it was F-16 given to develop J-10 ******** & now this!

Quadbike don’t go commenting without knowing the context of a post.

Teer the answers to most of your querries (including avionics, license assembly or production etc etc) are in Allan Warne’s article. Buy it and read it.
What you called TERPOM (it’s actually TERPROM), is present in the JF-17 too. A digital moving map display with terrain feature overlay. Google for JF-17 cockpit, simulator pictures. You’ll see it in operation in one of those. By the way, automatic terrain following AFAIK even in F-16s is available only with the use of LANTIRN nav pods on Block 40/42 and CCIP machines. Go figure.
As for the JF-17 not being BVR capable, use search engines again. There is an old picture of an SD-10 being fired from a JF-17 prototype. SD-10Bs (note not A but B) were’nt delivered as show pieces.
The SAR capability of the KLJ-7 from a reliable source (don’t ask otherwise I’ll be throwing names again) is less than 2m resolution. Not as good as 2 feet (not exact figures either) of the Viper but good nonetheless.
As far as Italian avionics are concerned, I’ve only seen it mentioned in that story no where else so I can’t comment on it, but then why again is PAC Kamra license manufacturing KLJ-7 sets?
The Italian avionics were used on PT-1 including Grifo S-7 but were dropped.
As far as the French are concerned, I have no idea, but that is Allan Warne’s quote from a serving high ranked PAF officer. I’d recommend you put that querry to Mr Warnes himself.
I only post what I read or get told by people in the forces I know, so I can’t throw about links to websites to back me up. As I always say take it or leave it.
I won’t be talking on this topic any more.
Thank you

For an incling of an answer to the respected AM Norman Brown’s 2nd statement, I’d reccomend a reading of Allan Warne’s great article. The article mentions just for example co-development and production of avionic systems and more. Why give out spoilers? Please buy your copies and read the article.
