It is the Paf’s perogerative to explain the reason for the decision. They choose not to, then so be it as they are not bound to do so anyway and neither is it the High Commission’s remit . Now please stop being obstinate and try to have a healthy debate.
    Thankyou

To put this whole shebang to rest, here is how it happened.
The decision to send Thunders to Farnborough was taken by the AHQ a bit late. The plan at first included a flying display( the routine and manouvers had already been chalked out). Insurance cover had been taken out, but at the fag end, it turned out to be inadequate in case of an accident( God forbid). PAF could still have gone for the flying display by either paying a late higher premium, or ignored it and God forbid in case of an accident would have been held financially liable for the resulting costs. The PAF decided not to risk it and instead settled for a static display.
This is the reason being mooted over at pakdef, and keeping in view the members credibility in all probability is the only reason. I tried to get confirmation from people I personally know and they are neither confirming this or denying it.

The actual reason is that somebody in the admin chain forgot to arrange adequate accident insurance for the display. By the time it was found out that the existing cover is not enough, the time remaining had shot up the addittional premium required for the display making it cost prohibitive. Hence the decision by the PAF not to put up a flying display. Simple and nothing to do with the technical merits/demerits of the plane.

Don’t know about RIAT, but there were Hawk validation flights at Farnborough today. Spotter forums are literally going ape. And the major query on every forum till they showed up was, ‘when are PAAF (C-130H) and PapaKiloGreen (JF-17s 113 & 114) arriving? The thunders came in low on fuel and apparently garnered quite a few wows during their pit stops in Saudia and Turkey. Still no confirmation of their flying display. If they go up for a validation flight we’ll know for sure, though from what I’ve gathered from a few conversations with people I know in the PAF, they are saying they will fly. God knows better.

I know what hot and high is. You seem to have no information about the climatic
enviorment of Pakistan’s air bases. In summers especially during the rains it is extremely hot and humid. And you know what heat and humidity do to air density and what that in turn does to lift generated.

You can add Kamra, Risalpur and Chaklala to the high stations. Plus bases like Mianwali, Jacobabad, Shorkot etc lie in a belt where temprature in the shade in the summers can exceed 45 degrees centigrade, what to say about the open. Peshawer and Samungli aren’t summer retreats either.

And once again the thread is about to go off on a tangent. Can you people leave the IAf in it’s own thread? And as far as the JF-17 is concerned, it has been designed with dispersed ops in mind. How do I know that, because a certian Grp Cptn who has indulged my interest in aircrafts since I was knee high, is an aeronautical engineer, worked on the K-8 design team from our side, who has spent the last 7 years shutteling between Chengdu and Kamra working on the Thunder happens to be my fathers’ first cousin. And that makes him my guess what? I wont say anything more than that.

It was F-7s & ROSE Mirages Rimmer not JF-17s. And these dispersal exercises are held every two years and cover the whole gamut from landing to refeuling to rearming to relaunching. The first was held back in 99.

The worst PAF ever did was from 1988-2002/3.
    -F-16 blk 15
    -Mirages III & V
    -F6s
    -F7p/pg
    -A5 III
Ok basically it was 4 types as Q5s and F6s shared much the same of the logistics.

No pictures and PAF regularly participates in such exercises to a greater frequency than percieved. We don’t publicise such activities.
And F-16s aren’t the only aircraft with advanced avionics in PAFs orbat.

Read the DSCA notification regarding the sale.
Also if u can get a hand on them, look at the pics of the initial flights of the first vipers of the nations operating advanced variants.

All advanced F-16s undergo their initial test flights without CFTs.
The PAFs kit includes 18 CFT pairs.
