Thanks chaps for your help so far.
I am trying to get in contact with my source in the local council who first told me about this incident.
MMitch the chalk cliff I was talking about is actually at the end of my road. I think it was a chalk quarry and the airman was dragged over the edge when the wind caught his parachute.
If I get anymore info I’ll let you all know !
