Fanastic day…summer finally here, great park n ride into Bournemouth, great show….best display by far was by the Sea Vixen…thanx DHA
Their Gnat was lovely and the formation looked good. Loved the odd formations (AAC) and the Glider/Pawnee etc and the Glasair Iis it?).
My girlfriend was in tears watching the Lancaster (her grandad flew them)…all in all a great day…..
two amusing things; according to the Official Programme had the in history of PZ865 that she had been flown by Princess Margaret…plus following 2 lovelies who were going to work on the Spitfire Ale stall and had been shipped in…one said…”Spitfire….never heard of it…but I do like Spit Roast” fanarr fanarr!!:D:diablo:Thanx to all who made it happen:)
Got any pictures 😀
You best stay out the way of a Typhoon then!
Great photo’s
I spoke to someone and asked why was there only 1 Black Cats Lynx he said the other pilot was at his daughters wedding. So they had one solo one, Am I correct?
If you have entered the scenery into the correct folders within FS 2004 you will need to activate them in the scenery library on the setup page of FS2004
Have you done this? if not your scenerys will not show. Also Google any probs you may have with scenery theres always a load of advice on there.
Okay thanks.
That’s great!
I just bought a box of 160 Morrison’s Red label tea bags for less than three quid. Bargain!

The thing I don’t understand is the Sea Harriers went out and they had better radar than the normal Harriers!
That’s a shame.
The same could be said for ANY modern fighter with FBW and the likes nowadays. I’m not familiar with the Typh’s systems, but I do know that double/triple/quadruple redundancy is common on electric fighters.
For example, the X-29 would fall out of the sky if it’s FBW failed, so it had a total of four identical computers; if one failed or malfunctioned, the other three could pick up the slack. You would need to have all four computers malfunction during a single flight for you to have a catastrophic failure like that, which is extremely unlikely barring an EMP pulse during a nuclear war (and at that point you have bigger things to worry about). But dont quote me on that…
Oh Right, thanks..
Because the yanks are better!
The good old Lancaster, makes me feel proud to be British!
The F-18 was the loudest aircraft out of all of them at Farnborough this year!
I still find it a stunning machine!
You can tell when the Typhoon is about to take off at airshows, you hear a rumble and you look on the runway and see full heat, straight into a vertical take off, I suppose the pilot does pull so G.
I don’t know if this is true, but apparently if any of the computers fail in the Typhoon it’s going to crash. Unless the person who told me this was chatting rubbish! Don’t they have a back up system?
Anyone?
Being a design optimized for landing on an aircraft carrier, F-18 will naturally be an excellent performer at airshows where extreme maneuvers are performed at low speed. Landing on a carrier requires lots of lift at slow approach speeds and excellent roll/pitch/yaw control. F-18 gets its lift by using a long span, straight wing with leading and trailing edge flaps to turn as much air as possible (turning air generates lift). Roll/pitch/yaw control is provided by the huge horizontal tails and rudders.
Unfortunately, the features that allow the F-18 to safely land on a carrier also hurt its flight performance. The long span, straight wing and huge tails are extremely draggy (aft fuselage flow separation doesn’t help either). Because of drag, it doesn’t accelerate well, has a limited top speed and shorter range when compared to its contemporaries. The performance limitations are not an issue when the F-18 is used in its original role, a light attack airplane to replace the A-7 and F-4. It does hinder its newly assigned role as fleet defense interceptor because some adversaries can run right past and the poor ol’ F-18 doesn’t have the speed to catch them (Hopefully AEGIS will).
Thanks for that, Very useful 😀
