RE: Message for Mr. Russ Snadden
I certainly don’t think that Black 6 was crashed deliberately…while the accident was Allison’s fault, he should be commended for the way he handled the aircraft when he realised disaster was iminent…
I very much wish that Black 6 was not going to Hendon having watched her being restored to her former albeit now static glory here at Duxford but then I wish for a lot of things…:)
RE: Message for Mr. Russ Snadden
I’m afraid that it was pilot error ~sad smile~…but then we all make mistakes…
And yes, Black 6 will be going to Hendon shortly, but I do not have a date…
RE: One of these days !
And Ant..I will admit I was wrong regarding the presence of the MK.24 on the Flight Line…sorry about that! I know there has been a lot of talk in previous years about getting the IWM Lancaster out of Hanger 1 and onto the flight line with the BBMF Lanc but logistics has so far ruled this out…maybe one day we will see the sight of two Lancasters together 🙂
RE: One of these days !
Ant…don’t mean to nick pick but it’s a Mk.22 that the Fighter Collection has…the main fuselage can be found in Hanger 2 behind the Beaufighter…it is very much a long term restoration project…Stephen Grey has asked that the Gladiator be made a restoration priority so I don’t think the Mk.22 will be properly worked on for a while unfortunately ~smile~
RE: If anyone is interested
I’m sure it will be a good evening…shame I don’t live closer…perhaps we should all think about a get-together at an airshow or something…see how many Forum members we can get in the same place at the same time 🙂
RE: Mr Modification does another
~Grins~…I didn’t know you get Red Dwarf in Aussie 🙂
RE: Sorry Head master 😛
I do like the second one…make my bad day seem a whole lot better 🙂
RE: Message for Mr. Russ Snadden
Sadsack…he’s the guy behind Black 6
RE: Time for a giggle
Heehee…:)
RE: So what did we think?
I have to agree with you Moggy about Battle Stations…it didn’t really have anything new to offer…but some nice shots of the Shuttleworth Spitfire though 🙂
RE: Picture of the day (2) 14/01/02
Hmmmm…I’ll have to check my sources on that one Ant…but I can tell you that the IWM Spitfire is on permanent loan from the Royal Hong Kong Airforce and has been since she arrived in this country.
RE: 3 Good Aeroplanes!
The Hurricane is masquerading as an aircraft of 111 Squadron, the first squadron to be equipped with the Hurricane in 1937 at Northolt. On 10th February 1938, the C.O of 111 Sq made history when he flew his Hurricane from Edinburgh to Northolt in 48 minutes!
RE: Picture of the day (2) 14/01/02
I think it’s the Spitfire Society replica…I know it’s a Duxford shot…taken at what I’m presuming to be the Spitfire Anniversary Show in May 1996…I seem to remember the Society bringing their replica up for the show…if I’m right that’s the Booker Mark I Spit next to her…wasn’t the intention to get as many marks of Spitfire on the flight line as possible in order of mark starting with the replica and ending with a MK XIX…I think some hoped that the IWM would pull their MK XXIV out but it’s not as easy to pull the static aircraft out of the big hangers at Duxford as some of you might think!

This F-86 is currently with the Aircraft Restoration Company at Duxford who will operate it this season…I believe it should be flying before too long 🙂
RE: Humour
I like these pics Halibag ~grin~
