Dear Dear Digby, you have obviously not watched pilots and engineers AFTER they have finished either! 😡
Oh dear…this could get interesting 😀
And many thanks for posting the floral tribute picture, trumper. I was contemplating buying a print on one of the stalls yesterday until I caught sight of the RNHF stand. The money went to them instead, no question.
Ashley
Sorry Mike, did you say something? 😉
(Smeeeeeeeeeggggggg Heeeeeeeeeeaaadd 😉 😀 :p)
Well said Skypilot. I thought the period re-enactors were a brilliant touch – add a taste of authencity in my opinion – plus once uploaded/scanned etc, you can play about with the photos in Photoshop/Photo Editor to convert them into b/w or sepia 🙂
My thoughts on Sunday’s show:
1) Spitfire tailchase as fantastic as ever 🙂
2) Loved the Rapide formation – having watched the Miller’s Rapide coming back to life for sometime now, I really enjoyed seeing her flying (and leading the pack :))
3) Although it was a shame that the P-40 had problems and landed without displaying, I thought it was rather nice to have “Brooklyn Bum 2nd” display on her own given her very recent arrival at Duxford.
4) I thought there was a better selection of stalls this year – less tat and more aviation stuff
5) Flight line walk – made the mistake of going on it at it’s busiest – it seemed to be full of rude, arrogant oiks, who were pushing, shoving and swearing at each other (and me) to get the “perfect” picture – of course we all like to get the perfect picture, but some people lose sight of what’s important – remembering the men and women who flew/navigated/crewed/maintained these aircraft and so on…
Agree with comments made re press photographers…perhaps the press could have a half hour start/half hour session to themselves before opening the flight line to all – works both ways in terms of view of aircraft.
Didn’t mind paying £4 for the walk either…believe the money goes to TFC, and although I know the money made from the flight line walk won’t exactly cover the running costs of the weekend, I hope it helps.
6) Don’t think I have met as many forum members on one day as I did yesterday – it was great to see you all – new faces and old – and was an absolute pleasure to meet Anna 😉 (But I really am sorry whalebone :()
7) Simply loved the BBMF Spitfire duo – was the first time I had seen the MkXIX in her new “dress” and thought she really stood out on the flight line, and even more so in the air – I thought the blue looked really good against the clouds. Was extremely annoyed when I checked my photos on the camera last night, that the one photo the camera could not open was my close up of the MkXIX on the flight line :()
All in all I thought it was one of the best Legends I’ve been to – a real variety of aircraft. I agree with Robbo that maybe the I-15 might fit the scale of Old Warden better, but many thanks to those who brought her over anyway – a nice surprise 🙂 Many thanks to all the pilots, ground crew and personnel who made this weekend happen, I had a fantastic time, as did Mr Ashley and Mummy and Daddy Ashley.

Morning gentlemen 🙂 I wholeheartedly agree with the comments…plus there’s a wealth of photos and posts to catch up with on the Historic forum…work will just have to wait 😀
And James…if one of the Rapides or Tiggers flies past my window weaving about…I’ll know you’re at the helm, yes? 😉 :p 😀
Yes, thank you Snapper for inviting us, I felt very honoured to be there.

So that’s 11am by the Vulcan on Sunday too, yes?
Well I’m off now, will see some of you at Snapper’s do at the Red Lion in the morning, hope to see some more of you at 11am.
Safe travelling everyone, and here’s to a safe and sunny Legends 😀
Becka
P.S. I will be the Spitfire jewellery wearing, Elvis handbag (or giant sack as it has been referred to) carrying brunette with an IWM pass 😉
Give them bowls of chrysanthamums (errrk…spelling?!?), lots of beer, and some important papers…that’s as good a place as any…
(Read “609 at War” for more goat care tips :D)
Wingco…ask Snapper…he will tell you all about the joys of keeping goats happy 😀
I had a feeling it was the I-15, but didn’t fancy being shot down in flames if it wasn’t! 😉 😀
WSA…sorry I can’t help more 🙁 I did run outside and jump up and down furiously trying to get a better look much to the amusement of my colleagues (ugh, I hate trying to spell that word!) but was none the wiser 🙁
I’ll put the kettle on Yak11 Fan 😉
Dodrums…Bourbon biscuits last time I looked…Moggy would be impressed 😀
Hmmmm…would have to be “Glacier Girl”…just something about the sleek lithe look of a P-38 that I like 🙂
WSA…I couldn’t unfortunately…it did look very dark, possibly black (and it’s pretty overcast here at the moment so the light isn’t great, which doesn’t help) The I-15 was out on the flight line an hour ago, so it is a possibility that it’s flown…
Yak 11 Fan…we have tea, coffee, Ribena and biscuits…take your pick 😀
Wingco…what WSA says 🙂
