DazDaMan…well what you need to do is speak to someone in the IWM who could help you on that…(You wouldn’t have to look very far ;)) You would have to pay for the photograph, but that way you would be able to use the photo in your novel, no problem. Unless you can find someone with their own private collection of Duxford photos, the chances are that any Duxford photos on the “circuit” originate from collections such as the IWM, and if you use a copy without gaining permission from the copyright holder, you could end up in a spot of bother.

Alternatively you could write to the Old Dux Association and see if there are any members with photos of Duxford in 1940 who would be willing to let you use their photo/s.

Andrew…some very wise words from Janie there, some sound advice for you.

I can’t help wondering if the parents have lost a child previously, and are doing all they can to avoid losing the one they still have? Still, doesn’t excuse some of their behaviour.

As I said, listen to the wise lady above (Janie, not Mrs God 😉 :p)

Janie…presumably Mr and Mrs Moggy had a civil ceremony at Duxford like Mr Ashley and I did…a civil ceremony must have NO religious references in it at all, either in the readings or the lyrics of music used. When Mr Ashley and I got married, we had to run not just our choice of music by the Registrar, but the lyrics to them as well. Unfortunately there were some good songs that had to be left out, but in the end we had:

    *Silver Inches by Enya (instrumental)
*There You’ll Be by Faith Hill (the theme from Pearl Harbour…the only good thing about the film really! I wanted one song with an aviation connection, and as much as I would loved to have entered the room to the Dambusters March, that idea got poo-pooed :()
    *One/Free by the Lighthouse Family
*I Want To Know What Love Is by Foreigner
*Don’t Need The Sun To Shine by Gabrielle.

Oops! Digressed a little there, but to answer the question, I would have to agree with Moggy’s assessment of High Flight 🙂

Mine is Tiny Clanger ~whistles~ It came about when everyone else started using avatars, so I scrabbled around in the images stored on my computer, and the Tiny Clanger one was the only one I could find that was small enough (couldn’t be arsed to prat about reducing another) Was only meant to be a stop-gap avatar until I found a better one, but I’ve got really attached to it now 🙂

Oh god, not mushy peas again 🙁 :p

    And gravy/curry sauce on chips? Ewwwwwww 🙁 😮 :p

I like just salt and pepper on mine, or a hefty sprinkling of Worcestershire sauce, or when I remember to buy some, some horseradish to dip them in.

Yes, I’m weird, but then you all knew that anyway… :p

Is that thread or threat?

    I’m worried now…

Did someone threaten to beat someone else up with a steak and mushroom pie or something?…
