It appears that 558 is once again on a very slippery slope. the fund fell £30,000 short of target in december, and has still yet to reach the initial target of £200,000.
Oh gawd… here we go again…. cough up your hard earned dosh… or the tin-triangle gets it!
Unfortunately thats the way it is, and always was from day 1. Some of the main things that could help that aircraft be closer to self sufficent are impossible becuase of the CAA’s imposed rules. Carrying passengers on joyrides for example. My sources have told me such seats would go for around £10,000 each. £10000 x 2 seats x 25+ events over a season would add up pretty quickly methinks.
Definitely not 575, doesnt have the twin plate ariels :/
Not far off though
Thanks very much 🙂
am I the only one that will be totally gutted to never see her fly again?
Not in the slightest.
I fart in the general direction of those who have nothing better to do than critiscise.
We have 3 weeks to go, the least we can do is try one more time. The only reason the figure is so high this winter is due to the major servicing on the airframe, next year i suspect the sum will be considorably lower.
Its not over until the fat lady sings.
Isn’t that Mach-meter a little optomistic? Would it have ever moved very far?
Probably would’ve got to about 1.05 in a dive, otherwise, not really. The same kind of dial can be found in the hawker hunter, another aircraft where acheiving a supersonic speed is highly unlikely.
All of that aside, and back to the issue at hand.
Fingers crossed the appeal will surpass £300,000 by monday, but we can only hope. Im going to have a go at getting some of the A3 posters printed out, and making some visitations to the areas where she was most publicised (Waddington, brize and fairford for example) to put them up.
For the time being though im going to have to stay put in the state of tention until the end of the month. Ive already pledged £90, and at the moment i cant afford any more.
Its not over until the fat lady sings 😉
Back onto the subject of 558, the pledge fund has now reached £309,000, which despite the short ammount of time left, is a positive figure. Hopefully coming up on the last week of the lifeline the media will take a more active role in the fundraising campaign and the lifeline of £500,000 will be met.
Getting there now, We can’t and we mustn’t fail 🙂
The fund is about to break the £350k mark…
BOTTOM LINE IS,DO YOU WANT TO SEE THE VULCAN FLY -YES OR NO
Save the political bickering for the administrators later.
That is the question we should all be asking ourselves, for me of which the answer is ‘Yes. Definitely.’
We all knew from the start the vulcan project would be a financial nightmare, and it was never likely to change. Even at the end of the 2010 season (should she get that far) there is still likely to be a fund that needs to be raised to put her back in the air for 2011. Its just one of those things. Repeating trumpers question,
DO YOU WANT TO SEE THE VULCAN FLY AGAIN -YES OR NO
Just checked the appeal page, and shes about to break the 400k mark.
OH YES =D
Doubt it. Right that mades the Appeal £400,500.
Half way there!
Wouldnt quite be the same. The Falklands vulcans i beleive both had the bigger 301 engine, so they lacked the ability to howl. However, all is not lost, for they SPLIT THE ATMOSPHERE AND ROCKED THE EARTH AS THEIR MIGHTY ROAR AWAKENED THE GOD OF THUNDERRR
Im sure i can find something on site that will make plemming howl like the vulcan 😉
Fantastic news that the fund has been exceeded. As long as nobody creams the 76,000 off the top of thee 800 000, i guess it gives us a bit of a bumpp start for when the fund raising begins at the start of the season.
Right, who knows when shes making the first flight of the year? I need to be down at lyneham to watch this one happen =]
