Isnt there also a part in there to choose the feul supply for the AAPP?
I know that it can be started from a 2 or more power sources, and i know which button to press to set the ball rolling. its just the preparation proceeddures im unsure of.
Ah stuff it i’ll just ask the vulcan guy at the aeropark next time im up. lol
How would one go about running the rover on a vulcan?
Its actually only around 400 flying hours for her engines. 200 for each set. The 1200 figure relates to how many cycles they have left (one cycle being the engine raised from idle to full power and back to idle again). Its easy to see why they’re so gentle with her in flight.
Wish I could say the same for her belly XD
Its currently taking on a look of the black buck kind of colour scheme (Grey primer)
Just out of curoisity does anyone know where i could find any video footage of XM575 in flight? I’d like to see true evidence that she was once a living, breathing war machine.
Ah well was worth a shot.
Thanks for the replys anyhow =]
As big of a bummer as it was the vulcan not flying this weekend, we can still be satisfied in the knowledge that the reason for her not appearing was due to the lack of a little stamp on a peice of paper, not anything mechanical or structural. Theres always the next one. (the next one being whichever show is after such a time she is re-certified to fly)
Its a real shame we she wont be flying but hey, you cant have it all. Time was short and certain things werent priority to ensure she made the first shows of the year. The absolute best we could hope for on sunday is a fast taxi. But even seeing her up close on the ground should be pretty good.
XL569 are you meaning 558 yesterday? if so it was one of the AFUs which failed during start up checks, nothing to do with the engines…
Oh. Yeah i did mean 558. The AFU is the artificial feedback on the controls right? stiffens the controls accordingl to the imput of the pilot or something along those lines.
Engine 2 let go again? How many times is that now? 3?
Quick update on the resotoration, we’ve finally started the underside of the wings and things are progressing well. Hopefully in the next few weeks they’ll be painted up putting it one step closer to the finishing point.
I have recently produced some prints of a few aircraft, the vulcan included, and i’m soon to be doing one of 558 in formation with the red arrows, such as the one at the ’92 cranfield airshow. For good measure i’ll drop a couple of tens of pounds in the 558 fund. 🙂

It wouldnt surprise me if it was just a little dust in the bottom of the intake. We all know how health and safety is nowadays. Fingers crossed to see her at cosford tomorrow 🙂
Are they likely to roll her out at CWJ next week?
