I haven’t looked what it was doing instead so may be speaking out of turn, but for an RAF show- and one of the few reamainging ones, at that- to not get an automatic tick when the Lanc’s year is being planned is a great- and surprising- shame. 😮
Absoluteley agree with that. Only 2 RAF shows this year and not to have the Lanc at one of them is a disgrace. I Know a lot of the 53k punters turned up just to see her because it should have been a cert to be there, my father in law for one. Okay she flew several other events but surely priorities dicatate that she attend an actual RAF airshow??!! 😮
Otherwise a great, family event at Cosford and the attendance figures prove thye’re doing something right… on an annual basis, long may it continue!!! 😀
So presumably its game over. Am I the only one interested in getting info on this wonderful machine whilst a huge piece of grounded metal gets thousands thrown at it? 😡
Thanks for that P-K. Please dont assume we, the willing ?? volunteer donators are Vulcan-d out. Perhaps if the tin triangle hadnt been such a cash sponge then many other projects, c-cvix included might have got a good share out. My frustration comes form the fact that we obviously know of the huge expense required but absolutely no fund rasing in the public sector has been forthcoming. Yes you need lots of fivers but unless you ask, you aint gonna get! With that in mind are we still counting down to 18 May as d-day re loss of CoA?
.
do not see the mighty sea vixen haveing much support from the lot that wanted it painted grey and looking right. how good they are. lets let it rot in an hanger .
A sweeping generalistaion of Vixen supporters there… The Red Bull contract inluded a repaint to RN scheme at the end of the sponsorship. I am one of “the lot” who detested the RB scheme and would be willing to support it to fly again. However the current owners have buried their heads in the sand and have offered no information or points of contact to offer donations or support – certainly not publicly any way. The Vixen had flown consistently for many years, 5 or 6 were flown as a display act. The Vulcan hasnt left the ground for 14 years, if I had to support a jet warbird, I know where my notes would go if I knew were to send it…
Good grief get a grip everyone – its a picture released slightly early of an aircraft that we ALL love to bits and will all take thousands of shots of. Why are some so precious that it had to be an official unveiling, do the vets really care one dot if someone took a picture of some art work and posted for us all to see? I’m sure that will be the first thought in their heads when they think of their fallen comrades and the rights of the free they fought for.
I recall a similar situation with the Vixen – why the secrecy?
That sounds more encouraging, hopefully a formal announcement will be forthcoming.
I hope so, CoA runs out on 18 May…
So where is the fund raising and the marketing of this beast? As was said earlier, there would be several fivers flying to them if they gave us some info – surely every little helps? ….
Castle Vale estate, Castle Bromwich in Birmingham, UK has many aircraft/airfield streets for obvious reasons…Baginton,Filton, Ruislip, Upavon,Innsworth,Yatesbury, Biggin Hill,Cranwell,Cosford, Abingdon,Tangmere, Locking, Watton, Farnborough etc etc are all there. I’m sure I’ve driven past somewhere in north Tamworth that has Lyneham, Scimitar and Mildenhall amongst others as street names.
Sorry to bounce this back guys. Its gone very quiet – are we to presume its game over? 😡
this is a german one
German F4F? Are they displaying a jet this year or just a few flybys? – Either way superb achievement to get on in the air!! 😮
Look s a superb mix of machines – cant wait!! (Any chance of the Bronco again! 😀 )
Would you be giving too much away to confirm the Weds trip to Somerset is “on” ?? 😉
I’m here Paulish but I’ve been told quite unequivocally not to reveal anymore by my superiors. I’d like to know where this other forum is though just as a matter of intrigue.
Welcome back! Just curious as to the reason(s) why you cant reveal any more info?
There’s been a bit of a flurry about this on another forum/place recently-along the lines of “where’s the capaign?” etc. It has all gone quiet here though-where is our insider DeHavEng?
Fair comment.Whats happening?? Theres 100s of “Ive got a 24 hour bug” or ” I’ve been sick and need the day off” excuses waiting to be banded about tomorow or Friday…:D
Random thought.. couldnt the Cvix be retained as at least a ground runner “somewhere” whilst any provision for it to fly again is made.I’m sure there would be many willing to part with a few quid to see it blast down a runway even if the wheels didnt leave the ground…
Some wishful thinking there me thinks. Sea Vixen? Wasp HAS.2???
Sea vixen’s more likey than a Wasp HAS 2, being as there never has been one!
Can I ask a perfectly innocent question- We all knew this day would come, Red Bull’s contract covered the CVIX for x amount of time and at the end of said contract it would be repainted properly  During the time with Red Bull has any serious thought been given to this day in the terms of drumming up support or funding through various methods to keep the Vixen flying? Or have the owners rested on their laurels somewhat and just accepted the inevitable outcome when Red Bull withdrew?
Concorde at La Ferte Alais -awesome low overshoot
