G-HVIP is a Swiss T68 ex J4208 and will be the aircraft used with Papyrus.
Thanks for that – But it doesnt count in that scheme!!!
Pull your finger out then Dunc!!!!!!
And repaint it back to her former 4FTS glory!!!!
Hunters at Kemble will include WV318, WV372, XL600 (G-VETA), Miss Demeanour, Papyrus and the rare T68 G-HVIP all airworthy but will not necessarily all fly on the day as I have to talk to the owners first.
Glen – where is the other Swiss Hunter to make a “duo”??
As for saying why do areobatics in them, thats what they’re bloody meant to do. Could you imagine being at Duxford seeing a very capable fighter just buzzing up and down in a straight line? It would be like watching paint dry
So Why cant we see a P 38 Or P 63 or Firefly Etc @ Duxford these dasy then?
I wonder why……
Id rather watch ‘paint dry’ than nothing……
Excellent point!!!!!
NO FOLKS – THEY ARE NOT HERE TO DO THIS TYPE OF THING AT ALL!!!!!!!!!
They were designed to take a man or several men to war, to fight! -aerobatics were very handy in helping them do this, but at 20000 feet!!!
Pitts Specials, Extras, Sukhoi Su26/29/31, Yak 55s – THEY were designed to do this kinda thing!!
60 or so years later, I believe these machines are here to preserve history and the memory of so many lost for the free world we have today (allegedly!!)
Ive said it before – the BBMF have been displaying constantly in varying weather conditions, at differing venues for some 35 years – without loss and the most we see them aerobat is a barrel roll – anyone care to liken their display to “watching paint dry”!?
Kodak, the similarity with the Firefly accident is that he nearly hit the ground while at a level attitude. The Firefly was pretty much at a level attitude when they hit the ground (too much sink). If the Yak was in a stalled condition at the top of the manoeuvre then he probably would not have made it. Quite difficult to watch even so.
OK but the Firefly was desperately trying to pull out of an unintentional manouvere – i.e. a derry roll or similar that was lost when the a/c hit inverted. This fool was intentionally entering a pretty hazardous manouvere with minimum height available.
A very lucky pilot. With respect to all there are similarities to the Firefly incident last year. It looks like some indecision in a high “g” manouvre. I’d like to see the “witness” marks on some of the rivets after that one.
Exactly what similarity is there with the Firefly incident!?!?
Seen this so many times in North America – usually however in a higher performance aerobatic machine than a warbird. Too low and slow to enter the split s by the look of it. Idiot. Whats the point of aerobatting warbirds!???
Show in ’81 was a pretty low key affair – the Reds, vintage Pair etc etc.’83 had a few warbirds and a Vampire was the only jet.Got listings and poor shots somewhere if your interested.
BUT… The 70s !! regularly had Lightning, Phantom, Buccaneer, Vulcan, Nimrod, Brittannia, Comet, Belfast and JP teams plus other stuff like air races, Ray Hanna in MH434, BA4B Great days -nice and close and personal!!
Kodak (also ST24)
Kodak, Sea Vixen XS587 certainly DID make it to Llanbedr. It was on the fleet there for quite a few years, and I got it to Valley for the Open Day there in 1983.
Thanks for that – Could have sworn it stayed at Hurn during its service.
great to see it went to a show as well! – Pity more of the fleet couldnt have been tempted away over the years!
Ooops bit of a mess!!
this should have been there

Following ones are dodgy – shot from some distance, indeed a couple were shot from a canoe!!!!

More from the good ole days
Any more photos like those above? I will try to dig out any of mine worth showing….
Just this for the mo, Ive got more Canberras and Hawks with jindiviks if you want but will need to dig ’em out.

More from the good ole days

Heres another D16

Talking of Llanbedr…..

If i remember rightly i think lack of interest in Winston was the high display fee. I was told that Air Atlantique paid £3000 to have her for the weekend at their classics airshow a couple of years ago.
Worth every penny!!!!!!!!
