Have got all the time in the world for you guys who dig up, preserve, buy, exchange , pinch(!) etc etc bits of and whole hairyplanes to keep them extant for future generations – all the very best to you.
My point was just someone “enjoying” the images ..? Maybe Ive just had a bad day and this was the wrong thread to read!!!

Can somebody post the relevant bits about what good has come out of scarp yards over the years before Kodak thinks we are poking fun at him? I am too flu-ridden to care anymore…Flood (AaaaCHEWWWWwwwww! Sniff.).
OK ok, the hunting “with” furry animals was a typo , much as “scarp yard” (see above) is.
Ironic indeed . Cant see the point in people enjoying images of great machines reduced to scrap.
You lot are sick.
I suppose you enjoy stopping at car crashes and hunting with little furry animals as well dont you:mad:
Hunter blue note, Meteor F8 droning, F104G throttled back whining, Up engined Tomcat in burner, Lancaster (or any merlins), Shackleton, An 22, RR Kestrel for a start!

Maybe I will mention some of these reply’s to the other teams at Brunty!!!
We are all letting our aircraft rot away, even though all of the taxiable aircraft at Brunty reply on all their systems being live and functioning properly to enable safe taxying.
Shall we all give up now and just go home!!!!!!
Never, ever give up at Brunty!!!
I really dont understand some people and their outspoken views !:D
Dont think I saw Miss D last year – was she in maintenance?
Dont know about bookings – would like to see a comparison. IIRC Ive seen Deltas black one and at least one of the Exeter jets far more than Miss D.
Miss D is a cracking demo though.
I certainly dont approve of additional artwork – I was referring in the main to the Lightnings. Havent seen the Bucc lately but at least one side of the Victor is OK “I dont believe it” that they painted that pointless artwork on the other!
I think its been very dissapointing that those gorgous camouflaged birds have been in France for several years and theyve only turned up here once!! Well done Waddo for that coup!
I did hear that the Singapore AF agreed to 2 airshow appearances a year – theyre fairly regular at French shows. Pity that the pulling power of RIAT hasnt worked, whats more they could have added another country to their already unrivalled list!
Is it this year they finish the deployment ? with the impending retirement of the type will they bother to fy them home or sell them to the nearest scrap yard to Cazaux!?
Come on Delta or Kennet – nows your chance!
OOPs!! Can open, worms everywhere!!
Great debate here even if my initial reply was a touch antagonistic
Any way;
I HATED the red Flack fleet and the later Brencham incarnations. The saving grace here was that there were still Spits, Hunters, Furies, JPs etc in decent schemes , indeed were still in service !
Even that Miss Demeanour monstrosity is OK as we still have a few decent hunters around (though weve lost the best – XF516, easily the most accurate warbird jet – an absloute gem)
Likewise those awful black and multi coloured strikemasters and JPs I can live with as long as they dont go to airshows but rather the few decent ones do.
And yes I hate the Black South African classic jet collection – get ’em in proper colours!
Bruntingthorpe – keep those jets rolling!!(except perhaps the Iskra!) Accurate schemes, the smell of avtur, real oil stains and the thunder of living jets. Yes I am eternally dissapointed to see brake chutes deploy and not a lightning or 2 screaming for the heavens at a great pace but the experience is there! If we cant fly ’em I think a lot more of this should be happening and Brunty would be a great venue to host them.

Kodak. My comments on your ‘sadness’ were light-hearted, and meant purely out of pity for your inability to share the excitement of flight that I suffer from. 😉
We are each entitled to our own opinions, I just hope you didn’t take it as a personal insult.
If so, I apologise and retract immediately
Moggy
I should think so, Ive been in floods of tears from those nasty things you said!
I think Im big and ugly enough to take a few punches and Ive been called worse!
Its just refreshing that threads like these allow us to air our opinions on subjects we ALL feel passionately for, though in different ways.
That said, anyone who disagrees with me is wrong!!:D
These beasts may well be “weapons of war” but the whole idea of tiger meets, exchanges, TLPs , unit anniversaries etc is to mark a special occasion. To improve morale, the “esprit d’corps”, for a squadron to take pride in their equipment and have a “bit of a show”. The RAF have always suffered from typical stiff upper lip, stuck up nose attitude and as a result we now have one of the most de-motivated demoralised air forces we’ve ever had!
The Germans on the other hand or the French or Italians paint a special scheme at the drop of a hat and whats more allow the interested tax payers to see them and become part of the occasion – after all it is the public’s Air Force!
I’m always shocked by the complete lack of interest most RAF brass show towards this kind of event. The low point for me was last years dambuster raid anniversary.Easily one the most famous wartime acts that boiled over with great British inventions, bravery, technological achievement and bloody hard work! And what did the RAF do to mark this prostigious event ? a crappy crest on a dull grey Tornado – crap!
How about a Tonka camouflaged like a Lanc? aka the superb Polish Bryza painted in martitme colours!? Nah why bother!?
If all RAF and RN Phantoms had to be destroyed why are there still extant examples? That tigered F4M would have looked great on 74s ramp at Valley while they still existed, just as the 23 sqn example does at Waddo
(In my best Arthur voice) Yes the serial on Airliners net is wrong!
Havent got facility to scan an image but have several of that lovely r/w/b bird ZA326!!
As I said a personal opinion only. Dont think aesthetics is quite the right word – that means the structural beauty or design of the machine, which whatever colour it is remains the same. My concern is for accuracy and historic value to youger people who cant remember seeing them as they were and to maintain dignity to the designers, crews etc etc
So you wouldnt mind a bright red Lanc with “Coaca-Cola” sprawled across the wings or a yellow B17 with “Shell” insignia rather than USAAF star and bars!? ugh!
Dunno if its been done before but could be a separate thread – I’d like to hear others opinions.;)
Moggy, re “You are a sad person.”
Not me sir, my PERSONAL opinion is that former miltary aircraft deserve the dignity to represent their (in most cases) distinguished career as a memory to them , the men that flew, fought and died in them and the services they represent. They cannot possibly do this in garish private sponsor -ship schemes.
What if the BBMF needed to paint up PA474 in “coca-cola” colours or Sally B in a “Shell” or “Esso” scheme!???God forbid
Amen.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrggghhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh to be a number cruncher!! I should hang my head in shame….
ZA326 is the ripple bird AND its still at Boscombe! ZA328 is obviously an original camo bird and like ZA354 dosnt get out much ( feels a bit like me at the mo!)
Phew!!
re “If it’s a choice of flying as an airborne hoarding or staying stuck firmly on the ground I know which I favour”
yep on the ground please!!
