In the early 1970’s the Belgian Air Force had a F-104G replica (LW-23 for Logistiek Wing 23) which was destroyed by arson in Brussels
Very nice photographs Stieglitz.
I have two questions:
1.Do you have the registration of the yellow Lelystad based Tiger Moth?
2.Is the Catalina PH-PBY in anew c/s after overhaul?
Mark 12. Coincidence, I just came across a photograph taken by a friend of mine at Grimbergen (EBGB) near Brussels in 1957 representing that Prentice.
I will scan it and post it.
I now checked and found that they were based at Maldegem near Ursel (18°Gruppo-56° Stormo) – source Regia Aeronautica by Christopher Shores – Squadron/Signal publications – 1978
The CR42s were based in Belgium together with Fiat bombers during the battle of Britain.
Must have more info on that topic but don’t know where to look
Great job with Photoshop.
Being from yhe precomputer age, I prefer to move the offending object and replace it afterwards after having taken the photograph. usually, officials won’t object
I saw a Grumman Goose
OO-ARA original ivery at Ostend
As agreed

Mark, I will. I thought that the picture was on my HD as I mailed it recently to BAHA but I don’t find it at the moment. Will reply asap.

Mark 12
The colour scheme was white top with yellow lower fuselage. The aircraft was indeed operated by COGEA nouvelle and was perfoming pleasure flights at Melsbroek (Trip costed then BEF. 300 per passenger(Then Brussels airport before the 1958 move to the other side Zaventem). The pilot, visible on the picture, was Marcel Nagels, full time employee of Régie des Voies aériennes-Regie der Luchtwegen (Belgian CAA)
Upon checking the excellent book on Belgain register from 1920 onwards by John Appleton and Armand Thijs, I don’t find any Proctor registered to COGEA nouvelle.
They were usually flying their beautiful Beech Bonanza OO-FUN as well as another Bonanza registered OO-MPH operated by them but not owned by COGEA nouvelle.
Further the excellent book in Dutch language about Keerbergen airfield by Frans Van Humbeek listing all COGEA nouvelle owned or operated aircrafts list the Bonanzas, the Spitfires and the Meteors without mentioning any Proctor.
At the same time (1952), the Proctor was sometimes flown by a Dr Decoster who then told me that he owned the Miles Magister he flown, again no trace in the Appleton-Thijs book.
Other mysteries Mr Mainguet whos is quoted in the Frans van Humbbek’s book as full time Spitfire pilot for COGEA nouvelle sometimes flew on sunday on behalf of COGEA nouvelle in an Omnipol Aero 45 reportedly belonging to a brewery.
Finally after looking at the beautiful picture of OO-ARA, I took a picture of this aircraft at Ostend airport probably in 1957 in natural metal or silver without cheatline and flat black panel (Original Belgian or Dutch air force scheme)
Bréguet Vulture
Picture in front of a Warbird
repost of my first contact with a Warbird if you may say so (Unknown Belgian registered Proctor)
One more
I would exclude both DC-4 and Nortalas as they have round portholes and DC 6 as the windows are vertical and not horizontal
