Thanks for the replies chaps, I’ll try to find a FS 3D model or scale top and side views over the weekend.
We have polish and I know exactly how much of that I need….

I hear what you are saying Rob, but I’m just looking at the short term alternatives…

Can’t see the difference myself between the aircraft painted as it currently is or painted in another civilian scheme with Red Bull written on it.
I suspect the main point has been missed, today this P38 does not fly and it’s current owners seem not to have the money to get it to fly (they themselves said they needed to raise funds for it’s restoration). Along comes an organisation who is prepared to either a) buy and restore the aircraft, or b) sponsor the rebuild (no idea which) and in return they want to see their corporate identity displayed to promote their organisation. By doing this another P38 (a very rare aeroplane) takes to the skies again. 10 years down the line Red Bull has had enough and sells the airworthy aircraft to a collector who then paints it in an authentic scheme…..
Other alternative is that it sits in the back of a hanger for the next 10 years deteriorating and gathering dust….
As people interested in preservation, what’s the best option here??????

When I implement my new 2005 policy of refusing to travel more than two miles in any direction to see aircraft fly, it will need to be at The London Gliding Club open day on Dunstable downs.
Should look impressive operating off that big grass field.
    A…

Oh no, does that mean I’m stuck with Rougham now???? Looks like I’ll need to move…..

Each to their own I guess, but I much prefer NA337 to the funny red coloured aircraft at Hendon. To me NA337 represents a Halifax, whilst I can’t visualise the Hendon exhibit as an aircraft, let alone a Halifax. Just my personal opinion for what it’s worth.

For the record I had to do 5 hours on instruments for my PPL last March / April. However I really screwed up the system by going to America, Moggy has very kindly done the maths for me on this one as well and ordinarily it would work out to be just as expensive as a PPL in the UK, however for me time was an issue and I was in a very fortunate position with regard to my flying back home. If I had to do it all over again I have no idea what I would choose, however I did wait over 10 years to get the money together to get my licence. I wanted to wait until I had all the money in the bank so as I knew I would be able to complete the course rather than getting half way through and running out of cash, personal choice for me.
I suppose what I am trying to say is that everyone is different and should go down the route they perceive is best for them after having got as much information as they can.
I’m pleased I got my PPL and now a year on have a little over 80 hours rather than still being under instruction with 40 ish and waiting for the weather to be kind so as I can complete.
