RRather than making Russia concentrate their assets onto one place/frontline, pressure/force them to disperse their limited assets and in the process make them utterly ineffective!

    .

You are way over exaggerating. This always, always always happens in this war. The Syrian and Russian side hits a snag and everyone exclaims that there is something wrong with the Rus/SAA plan. Everyone is always predicting that momentum will turn against them. Then they gather up and start overrunning the terrorists again.

The su 24 shoot down was supposed to be a momentum changer. Then the convoy attack. Then the ceasefire. Then the grand daddy of them all, Turkeys entry into the war, was supposed to be the game changer. But nope.

And about your other reply claiming that Russia isn’t defending good enough and needs drones. I think you are forgetting about all the rotary wing aircraft out there.

There is no need to take Idlib there would be lot of blood bath.

All Russian MOD needs to say that they know there are Chemical Weapons materials/factories in Idlib and it reserves the right to hit those based on intelligence report and it need to share those either before hitting the target or just post strike to UN/US and all stake holders.

It is task better done by RuAF then by SyAF.

The problem though is it is not difficult to make such weapon if the ingredient is available , They the rebels can stage a CW attack every second day

No. It will be no worse than Aleppo. They cant just let the terrorists in Ildib draw Trump into the war and draw the UN into crazy resolutions pointed at Russia.

Who cares if it is bloody. They will get 100% bad public relations no matter what they do as we are seeing now. So if you are going to get 100% bad PR regardless, you just be as effective as possible.

Trying to take out chemical weapons in a politically correct way, is the worst thing Russia or the SAA can do.

As Russia MOD knew these site where Syrian Airforce Attacked had chemical weapons or likely to have.

Why did RuAF didnt strike these site on their own and let Syrian AF do that considering Syrian AF dont have good reputation when it comes to earlier use of CW.

Next time RuAF should directly bomb these suspected site and either inform in advance or inform the media/UN immediately post these strikes.

What this really shows is, it would be a hell of a lot safer to speed up this process and stamp out these rebel terrorists before they can make these big fakes and garner all of this attention again.

Russia should send in ground troops to back up the SAA. Let the SAA do the dirty work but just use Russian troops to secure areas so that SAA can fight.

Guys.. Lets look at this from a logic point of view.
Assad knows he is safe, and he knows he will win back most of none Kurds area given enough time.
And also Assad was very quickly to agree on UN getting all the chemical agents and weapons out of Syria.

Sooo why on earth would he be so stupid to order Chemical strike on towns on his own countries.
If this doesn’t make you wonder, then why haven’t UN published anything on the earlier chem-attack which was on Syrian soilders.
Both UN and Russian personel has sampled evidence.. but it has been a year since last attack report. Wtf is going on??

Steve Bannon also stepped down from NSC while Trump himself was meeting with the Saudis and Jordan. It appears that HR McMaster, this dunderhead that replaced Flynn, has taken over. And he evidently wants to put regime change in Syria back on the table. Soon.

So now we wait and see if a president who was elected to deescalate with Russia and Syria, is going to start a war with Russia in Syria. If we use democracy’s historic record, it does fit. Usually, the people get the exact opposite of what they vote for.

There are already reports of airstrikes on SAA positions.

Unconfirmed Reports: Unidentified aircraft have launched several airstrikes on Assad government and Iran-linked militia positions in Daraa, south Syria http://syria.liveuamap.com/en/2017/5-april-unconfirmed-reports-unidentified-aircraft-have-launched

F-18 isnt even competitive with american 4th gen fighters, let alone anything more current,
i think its a waste of time and money trying to change a turd into anything else,
just add a few ****ty ole f-18 until USN can get their hand on a new fighter,
not f-35C but something new with actual performance

If new planes are going to be produced anyway, why not stealth them up a bit ? I think he’s talking about new models.

Nice photos of the first two Ka-226 for FSB, meant for naval employment.

Thought FSB copies would be all black.

Oh please, the Rafale and F-35 arent even playing in the same category. The technological gap between the two is real. Its useless to deny it.

The Rafale has a higher flyaway cost (~$110 millions) than the F-35 ($85 millions and shrinking) and has high operating costs too. It will most likely be more expensive to upgrade as well since there is only a handful of Rafale operators and relatively few aircraft in use (compared to projected F-35 numbers).

The higher tech jet is not at all practical for small country and air force. You don’t have economies of scale to deal with the problems that are going to come with the F 35 nor would you want the hassle. I dont think Belgium is that involved in war games either. So many of these features wont be used. If there is a tech gap, its on things that you wont be using anyway.

As far as flight and maneuverability, I think there is a gap in the Rafales favor.

But I get it. You want the shiny new toy along with the status symbol that is stealth.

I think that at the end, the image of US as a functioning democracy will be reinforced. .

I don’t think you appreciate what everyday Europeans think about the election of Trump. The guy is the antithesis of what Europeans think a public figure should be. And they didn’t know an American existed that was so stereotypical of what they think Americans are like.

The whole election right from the primary season till now was one big dumpster fire and its still not over.

F-35 will be the next Belgian fighter jets; that’s for sure. Rafale may be able to handle most (or even all?) of the missions however it will be more expensive than F-35 and it will be less capable. Add in the added value of operating the same a/c as most of NATO (and the Netherlands in particular) and it becomes a no-brainer.

Gripen NG is not for countries that consider the F-35 — it is for countries that do not consider the F-35 and want something Western but cost-effective. E.g. Switzerland (and I guess also Austria, when they need to replace their Typhoons 15 years from now).

There was some political tension about the F 35 in Holland and there was and continues to be a 4 alarm poltiical inferno for the F 35 in Canada. These new prices being thrown around for the F-35 are not cash and carry costs. They are numbers put out there by PR teams and politicians to calm things down a bit.

Isn’t the French jet faster, more maneuverable and better rate of climb ? And it looks better. Way better. And its built inside the EU. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Belgian economy is somehow connected to the the French jet.

About the first part, I can only tell you also in all seriousness that I and the so called Sputnik have not any relationship of sort, for the rest I know you were joking as soon as you has not even taken the time of reading my post and so to not mistook what I said about F-117 (or B-2, or X-47) FLIGHT PERFORMANCES with its own level of stealth (that’s is still better than the ones of F-22 and F-35, it seems).

I am inclined to believe that the better computing power to design stealth airframes has made it so that the jet design has to be less compromising to the shape/aerodynamics of the aircraft but is not necessarily better absolute stealth.

So if they were to make something as stealth as possible, at the expense of aerodynamics and performance, that the aircraft that they come up with, would look more like the F 1117 than the Raptor.

It would be super cool to see someone design the most stealth airframe possible, with all the coating tech applied too. I am a coatings skeptic. Which is why I think the F 1117 might actually be a more practical stealth jet. Because it relies less on coatings and more on the brute force of angles.

LIMA 2017: MRCA contenders jockey for pole position

    https://www.shephardmedia.com/news/defence-notes/lima-2017-mrca-contenders-jockey-pole-position/

Why is not LM in this race with the F-35?

If they are really considering the Rafale and Typhoon, they should IMHO also be able to consider the F-35, which is already in the same price range.

It can’t be because they will avoid US a/c for political reasons because SH seems to be in the race.

    So what is the reason?

There are ideological requirements that have to be met for the US to sell F 35’s particularly (not many being sold to Gulf allies notice) but even F 16’s or any US jet . This is not the same as Russia, Sweden or whoever trying to book an export deal.

Secondly. These F 35 prices that get thrown around are just what LM can bare for the good of the coalition. They are not the same as cash/carry prices for other jets

A Flanker is a Flanker. And that particular Flanker was build by former Russia.
    So who cares.

Agree. But some ppl have to get their cheap shots in.

Speaking of which.. No TR1, Russia does not use “mostly unguided weapons” This is just not true.

Or in another words, a Bavarian delegation lead by a man who is seen has the “German Trump” wich has a chance of getting elected Chancelor for the next two or three elections of more or less “ZERO”, known for wanting to shut down the borders, talking tough to anyone but Russia (and the USA) and by ending the sanctions to Russia went “Kowtowing” to Moscow, him and Marine Le Pen, congratulations, the European and American Alt-Right do seem to like the type of political leaders who arrests their oposition… Will that change the position of Germany and the UE vis-a-vis Russia, nope.

He is not a German Trump. Not at all. And he already has considerable political power. Wait a minute.. You think he’s a “German Trump” only because he talked to Putin.. You really beleive the myth about Putin don’t you.
