Guys … even if I find it very much interesting – albeit highly unlikely – that Germany considers building a stealth fighter, the topic is “Japan & UK” ??? Isn’t it?:highly_amused:

It is… it is… But we kinda started talking about it here. Maybe it deserves a quick thread for itself. Go for it. Maybe someone will find these alleged drawings that are out there

These “offensives” are suicidal nonsense at this point.

    Indeed

You used the Duran to state that a Bavarian delegation went to Moscow?!
    .

    Yes.

    http://cdn1.spiegel.de/images/image-1119134-860_poster_16x9-hmxi-1119134.jpg

Spiegel Online gave the following details of the trip:

Mr. Seehofer came with a 80 member delegation representing Bavarian society groups, cultural representatives, journalists, industry and agriculture. Those last two branches of the economy have been long demanding at least an easing of sanctions imposed after the annexation of Crimea, and they hope for an end to Russia’s embargo in return.

“Without Moscow, may of the world’s crises can’t be solved,” and praised Putin as “noble” for not involving himself in Germany’s domestic affairs.

Look at the orbats of today, littered with 90s and early 2000 acquisitions. The threat for the DCA scenario were Su-34/35 with suppprt from Su-30, all in production today, expected to serve for the next 30 years and likely to remain the backbone of Russian aviation during that period.

Agree no PAK-FA and no J-20 but I think in a NATO scenario Belgium could rightly expect to those systems would be tackled by other partners.

I also think the SAMs were representative of what we will see in 15-20 years. A few high end systems with a mix of currently in service systems that likely have a few upgrades.

This is just ridiculous. Belgium has an air force because it happens to be a country. It has a more serious chance of going to war with a rogue regime in Germany than it does to fight Russia.

Mmmm, those scenarios (and I agree that they are realistic) look more like 2018 than 2035, from all the “red forces” hardware described in the doc, the only one wich is not (maybe) operational today is the J16, the rest its all in active duty.
One thing that caught my eye was that the first one might has well be called “Putin goes rogue in the Baltics next year”.

Germany/The EU should hurry up and make a European Pilot Training Centre with Pilatus and Leonardo aircraft + Simulators.

Considering it’s decreasing costs the F-35 will be a shoo-in to replace the F-16 as long as the US doesn’t do anything crazy with Trump at the wheel.

It would be really stupid for a European Union member to send money overseas to support the US military industrial complex when they have indigenous industry to support like Eurofighter , Dassault and Saab. But yeah. They probably will.

Everyone an their aunty thinks the Germans will go down the F35 route in the medium term. It may be that they choose to let the French supply them with a Rafale MLU or something to replace the Typhoon (given that the idea of replacing Rafale is not being discussed).

The notion of Germany joining Britain and Japan (were that to happen), makes not sense in the post Brexit age. Eurofighter was a product of it’s time and whether the French would unilaterally be able to replicate Rafale in the future is just as uncertain.

I’ll tell you what makes no sense. Germany joining the political lighting rod that is the F 35 program while Trump lectures Germany on trade policy and gives them hell for not paying enough into Nato.

The Duran?! Next a Sputnik article…

Berlin will ease the sactions when the UE eases its sanctions, and taking into acount that the European leader who pretty much imposed its will on that particular matter is called Angela Merkel…
Not going to happen soon, unless the entire Ukranian imbroglio is resolved, and that includes Crimea, and by “resolved” i dont mean a Western European “Kow Tow” to Moscow.

Oh God. Here we go.. Every single point made by anyone that isn’t towing the western establishment line, automatically turns into a media argument.

If media outlets that you do not like, say that the sky is blue, the sky is still blue. I did not use the Duran link to try and tell you that the sky was red. I used the Duran link to state that a Bavarian delegation went to Moscow. Because it is a fact.

I find it that you have too much difficulty to called the terrorists what they are, where as you are at ease often using “regime”.

There is no rebels anymore but he calls his isis friends rebels I guess. Neocons and liberal internationalists are very irrational. They believe that Bush’s worst forign policy mistake was owning the Iraq war. And Obama’s biggest forign policy mistake was not owning the Syria war.

But now the Americans are drifting around in larger numbers. They seem to want to have a crack at Raqqa. They claim to not want to be in the nation building business. Yet what are they going to do with Raqqa if they ever took it.

A daring assault by US and SDF forces across Lake Assad near Tabqa. Supposedly they might have secured the damn as well.

Nothing daring about it. They are just driving around.

Gents, this has nothing to do with the topic. Surely the prospect of a Japanese collaboration with a country the other side of the world is more interesting than Germany falling into bed with the French through lack of planning?

The potential for a new project here is too exciting and will give the world something more than a warmed over Rafale (for the French love their Rafales).

Germany would actually be well served to jump in bed with Japan on this fighter.

    Two points:
    – First, Japan and the UK face a similar defense posture when it comes to homeland. By focusing first on the design of an interceptor with added capabilities (delivering smart loadout in AIDS at sea and on land), they can bypass a lot of the complexities and over pricy development that is indeed already covered by their F35 procurements. No need to re-invent the wheel (unless for the R&D).
    – Secondly, Germany may want to follow a similar path seeking a partner. It is obvious to me that when it comes to Air defense, Franco-German partnership does not lead to any efficiency in the present situation. It will come to a new Fr administration to impact severely that trend. But, with a commitment to Rafale F4 still marketed as the all-out OMNI thingies, it leaves only a thin gap to go after such cooperation. Germany will certainly not fund with a large popular backup yet another Eu design. I don’t see anything happening unless a Germanised version of an existing design (F35G or something more exotic).

Last but not least, we have been foreseeing this some time ago. The dysfonctionnement experienced during the last decade do bear some consequences, and that is democracy working as it should, something for what military budget are tied to.

The political winds are changing. Germany and Russia are going to ease sanctions on each other rather soon and I don’t think Russia will do anything to compromise a new detente with Germany or Europe. As this new detente emerges, the political priority for defense spending on things like fighters will not exist.

Merkel turning toward Moscow? Bavaria’s governor leads huge German delegation to Russia

    http://theduran.com/merkel-bavarias-governor-meets-putin-moscow/

Besides French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen’s surprise meeting with Vladimir Putin today, another important meeting between German leaders and Russia’s president happened last week, but has gone almost unreported outside German media.

Bavarian governor Horst Seehofer, who holds a powerful position in German politics, visited Moscow on March 16th, bringing with him a massive delegation of German political and business leaders.

Canada is uncompetitive medium skilled economy . it has to wait for thirld world malaysia to build export energy terminal. also practically 100% depended on selling houses to foreigners. Canada is totally out from Arctic. you willl never hear mass layoffs at Sukhoi or UAC while 90% import depended Bombardier shedding skilled workforce every where. the comparision is a joke.

JSR. I am saying that Russia’s economy is in far better shape than Canada’s despite Russia having a business cycle recession. There is nothing good about the Canadian economy.
