Yeah, no.
a) The Yak-141 has two lift engines that are separate from the main powerplant.
b) Even if it was the same (which it ain’t) using the same engine configuration alone would hardly count as a copy, otherwise every jet aircraft ever built is ripping off Frank Whittle.
Anyone could get all technical and make counter claims about all the claims about Russian “copies”.
Lets just put it this way. Byoin’s comment that “outside of the US, everyone copies” is a completely false and ignorant statement.
And anyone who actually agrees with that ignorance, deserves to be bombarded with all of the evidence that proves the claim to be false.
The J 20 is a Mig 1.44 with F-35 nose and intakes. There is murkey evidence of China buying the Mig 1.44 plans and there is clear evidence of China spying on the F 35.

Mar 24, 2016 – Chinese Businessman Pleads Guilty of Spying on F-35 and F-22 …. Industrial Corp., which is building a C-17 look-alike dubbed the Y-20.
outside of the US, everyone copies. or some would call “inspired by”. look at B-1 and Tu-160, or F-111 and Su-24, or A-9 and Su-25.
when the Chinese copy, they make it better
Mig-21 and J-7. the J-7 is far more manouverable, it is close to the f-16A in agility and also cheaper and more reliable
su-27 and j-11. the j-11 now has an aesa radar, is lighter. not even the su-35 has an aesa radarbut china also has a number of original designs that are far better than their russian counterparts
jh-7 and su-24: jh-7 does a much better job shooting down ships and doesnt need complicated swing wings
y-20 and il-76 upgrades: y-20 is much more modern and is a widebody. il-76 is still stuck in c-141 philosophy
j-20 and pak-fa: here are common things in all stealth fighters. faceted body, weapons bay, serrated edges, aesa radar, all around low rcs, s-ducts
f-35, f-22, and j-20 has all 6. pak-fa only has 4
It is mutual. There are just as many copies that go the other way. F 35 and Yak 141 is just the start.

some russian fanboys can’t get over the fact that China has surpassed them in aviation.
So lets say the mig is really the basis of the j-20, then maybe the russians should’ve done the same too so they can get a real 5th gen fighter instead of a stealthy su-27
Haha that is just a ridiculous statement.

That’s the cancelled Russian MiG 1.44 stealth fighter, a plane that many have noted has external similarities with China’s new J-20 stealth jet. Now, Russian defense sources are saying that design data and parts from the MiG 1.44 were indeed used in the design of the J-20.
From Reuters:
“It looks like they got access … to documents relating to the Mikoyan—the aircraft that the Ministry of Defense skipped over in its tender to create a stealth fighter,” he said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
He said it was not clear whether such a transfer of technology had been legal. Analysts say Russia’s assistance to the Chinese may help Moscow keep tabs on the rising military power’s defense capabilities of its eastern neighbor.
Independent analyst Adil Mukashev, who specializes in ties between Russia and China, suggested there had been a financial transaction.
“China bought the technology for parts, including the tail of the Mikoyan, for money,” he said.

Russia does not have the capability to design a smaller medium range missile or bomb like those in the picture. they require large engines to fly and thus a large frame, and now no room to fit into any supposed bay. thats why to this day, we see the j-20 with all its bays open but pak-fa is still having trouble.
The J 20 is designed by Russia.
India just secured its participation in the PakFa project. What would the Chinese industry do with it?
They both have SU 27 variants.
i want rumors on J-20 weight
Mig 1.42 is comparable.
Empty weight: 18,000 kg (40,000 lb)
Loaded weight: 28,000 kg (62,000 lb)
Max. takeoff weight: 35,000 kg (77,000 lb)
Mikoyan made use of weight-saving materials in the construction of the aircraft, with aluminium-lithium alloys making up 35% of the empty weight, steel and titanium alloys (30%), composites (30%) and others (5%).[23]
Emhh, as much as I like the Pak-fa I still have to note that is still in prototype phase and just the latest of such items has the definitive frame, so really, about what “further ahead” are you talking about?
If China put up money to buy PAK FA’s, more resources would be available to move the project along which means both Russia and China would have stealth 5th gen fighters sooner.

for sure just producing some more F-15E would have cost less, leaving some money to pay back debt before it spiral out of ability,
the question is: will there ever be a US president with the resolve to pay back and balance budget ?
what is more, will consecutive presidents adhere to balanced budgets ?
could have made a specialized first attack stealth jet in small numbers. Then just use the F 15e for everything else.
True to an extent. Russia agreed to help Assad and as well keep Syria’s territorial integrity. But not Turkey invaded. What makes it worst though, is that Turkey is now flooding Syria with FSA and other terrorists (Al-Sham or also known as Al-Nusra and formally known as Al-Qaeda) into Jarablus. These groups will pose a threat to Russia very soon as well. So it isn’t just Kurds now. The Russians now have a perminant base in Syria that is open for attacks because well, Russia didn’t pipe up when they should have. Hence why I mention Russia here.
Anyway. I await to see Kuznetsov and the MiG-29K’s in action. Last I heard it was supposed to be next month. Is this correct or did they move it back to October?
Jarablus was largely empty. The rag tag group is already fighting itself.
BREAKING Turkey shells Kurdish militia in northern Syria: Turkish state media
Clashes broke out on Thursday between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Turkish-backed rebels in northern Syria.
The clashes took place near Tal Amaranth village north of Manbij, about 7 kilometers from the town of Jarabulus.
SDF forces advanced towards Jarabulus city –earlier taken by Turkish-backed rebels– despite warnings by the US Vice President Joe Biden that Kurdish forces should pull back across the Euphrates, to maintain US support.
“The problem for the Kurds is that it is not geopolitically feasible through the rest of the Obama Administration,” Nicholas Heras, a Washington-based Middle East researcher at the Centre for a New American Security told ARA News.
Remember and keep the below illustrative map… that is how the situation is likely being moulded by the US & allies. And when you see something like this (or near to this) happening in the months ahead, you can be sure that Russia has lost it after putting in so much effort with a brilliant start to the campaign!
Just like that Olympics volley ball match I mentioned earlier.First thing Russia decision makers need to understand is that, when you start giving military support to an ally, your support cannot be anything less than a full-scale support for the allies, but Russian support since that “ceasefire” in Feb 2016 was less than adequate and selective. There cannot be any major turnaround unless Russia increase its various assets including the much needed gunships.
^ I dont need to explain that map or how that is being “developed”…. The only winner here in that (above) case will be the US.
1) Keep Turkey happy (No Rojava close to actual Turkish border)
2) Keep Kurds happy (a Rojava in between Turkish proxies controlled territory and Syria on the expense of Syrian territory)And they all live happily ever after with oil trade… like the earlier IS-Kurds-Turkey partnership which saw some disruption once the Russians started striking those long truck chains
The US like usual, is trying to do the impossible. Sure. Day to day, some of the plan looks like it can work. But it won’t. You are way overblowing the US’s position here.
This will turn back into a conventional war soon enough. Russia . Hezzbo and the SAA will roll on.
Simple physics. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only converted from one form into another, or generated from matter according to E = mc^2. Radio wave is light. Light can be reflected or absorbed. If absorbed, light converts into heat. F-22 may have less RCS than F-15, but not by much. F-22 reflects light pretty well. You can see it with your eyes because it reflects light into your eyes. You can see it. So can radar.
As for stealth. That’s marketing gimmick. Stealth has never been proven in the real world. Not once.
People don’t seem to get stealth. The kind of stealth that the F 22 is made for is first strike advantage. They can fly into Chinese airspace to start a war and get some work done before the Chinese can get locked on them. They could get past peace time radar.
F 22 stealth is not made for flying around in a live war zone littered with S 400’s. It is not a wonder weapon that simply makes the F 22 invisible in a live war zone.
The report nails it perfectly of Russian actions, cant agree more on what the report says of Chinese views & discussion regarding Russia’s rather modest action in Syria after the ceasefire & “mission accomplished” withdrawal.
I wish I’m wrong, but… post that stupid “ceasefire” and “mission accomplished” stuff, Russia is showing how to loose a winning (mil situation/momentum pre-Feb 2016 ceasefire)/winnable (restore & increase the military assets to fully support manpower constrained SAA & allies) game. It now looks very much like the Rio Olympics men’s volley ball match for bronze between Russia and US where Russia won the first two sets and then the US team came back to win the next three and take away the medal, leaving Russia with nothing. I wish Syria doesn’t go that way. High time Russian decision makers/planner took a review and corrected their mistakes and priorities….. or like the so-called Russophiles from $hitoles claim there is nothing wrong with Russian planning/executions and completely blame it on the ‘incompetent’ Syrian forces.
)
I don’t know what gave you the idea that the withdraw was akin to mission accomplished. They were putting pressure on Assad and everyone and giving a chance for peace. They also wanted to prove that they were not getting bogged down and committed. Nobody was going to make a point of bleeding them.
The US put a team of rag tags together by over-paying all of them. They took an empty town yesterday and they are already fighting each other. Yet you make it sound like these rag tags are blitzkrieging across Syria.
Ohhh, listen … another eyeball-expert has spoken !
Im just not a fan of the looks. Or the idea of China starting from rock bottom. If they focused on building some carriers and just bought Pak FA’s, they’d be way further ahead.
