“20% of oil supply from Iraq”?

Depending on how you define “very, very soon” that would be quite a remarkable feat considering that approximately 10% of the oil consumed in the United States is imported from Canada, the largest US importer. In terms of proven reserves, Iraq (115 billion barrels) ranks 4th behind, Saudi Arabia (264 billion barrels), Canada (180 billion barrels), Iran (132 billion barrels), and just ahead of Kuwait & UAE (~100+ billion barrels each).

Great ! now you have an idea about diffrence between iraq oil reserves and Anglo oil reserves.

And iraq possition in middle east . kuwait, iran and iraq create a triangle of oil reserves.

I wonder how you people over their can spend money? Dont you eve think a part of that money is stolen from those poor iraqi childs that you killed?

Can you tell me which nation used for the first time Nukes and killed civilians?!

That’s my favorite attempt at an argument used by the anti-American posters. Of course America must be bad because we are the only nation who has ever dared use a nuclear weapon in actual combat. Nevermind the fact that the use of those two weapons actually saved millions of lives in the long run. A traditional bombing campaign followed by a ground and sea-borne invasion of the home islands of Japan would have costs millions of Allied & Japanese lives (both civilian and military), and anyone with even a basic understanding of World War II would understand that. So please, if you want to criticize America, do it for other reasons…..not one that just seems to fit your agenda. That argument holds absolutely NO water so stop using it.

In other words, until you have an idea that will actually help to combat terrorism (and no, my European friends appeasement does not count…..I would’ve thought you folks would’ve learned that from the experiences of Mr. Chamberlain and Mr. Hitler during WWII…….perhaps I was wrong), then please stop acting like America is doing it all wrong.

Terrorism will always exist, that’s a cold, hard fact. The more we actually fight back, the harder it will be for these groups to kill innocents. We will never be able to save everyone, and to think so is very naive. We must fight back and do what we can to secure and save as many lives as possible.

I repeat….appeasement and ignoring the problem will not help it at all….but rather make it worse.

You are out of luck this time my american freind.

1- As suggested during WW2 why USA did not demonstrated it? for example asking some of japanese officials and demonstrate the power of this bomb and prevent loss of innocent life!!

2- From when on you care about japanese life?

I also enjoy hearing about all of the people who supposedly want to combat terrorism, and yet apparently America is doing exactly the wrong thing. We are killing the terrorists, and yet somehow that’s the wrong way to go about it.

So 8 years old boys and pregnant women are terrorist in your oppinion?!

The way you killing them in iraq…

I’m not quite sure if this is the proper forum to reply, but facts do warrant citation.

Iraq would be a heck of a place for a U.S. “war for oil” conquest.

If the US was trully going to “war for oil” we would have much easier and softer targets that would cost less in lives and treasure to take.

Crude imports into the US from Iraq consist of a grand total of **DRUMROLL** 4.8%!!!! 😮 Angola is hot on its heels at (4.6%). Watch out Angola – George Bush and the big bad United States is coming for your oil! One shouldn’t feel so safe and secure in Norway either, as Norway provides almost 2% of the US’s oil imports.

The US gets most of its imported oil from Canada (20%), Mexico (15%), Saudi Arabia (13%), Venezuela (12%).

    what color is the sky?

“While its proven oil reserves of 112 billion barrels ranks Iraq second in the world behind Saudi Arabia

Very Very sooon USA will get 20% of its oil supply from iraq.

If the world is safer, if liberty and tolerance is promoted/not harmed by a nuclear-armed Iran (at least while Ahmadinejad, Khamenei, and IRGC hold the reins), then why go through all of this anyway? Someone, should supply Iran with a dozen or so ICBMs, and perhaps 100 or more tactical nukes and enjoy the ensuing stability and peace that follows. 😀

Can you tell me which nation used for the first time Nukes and killed civilians?!

Iran’s GDP is $195B with a population of about 70M. Doing some quick math, that is a per capita income of about $2800 per year. This is not good as it places the Iran in the same lot with economic powerhouses like Albania and Pakistan. This is far, far worse than when the Shah was forced out in 1979. Iran has to import food and refined oil products to feed its people and power it’s industry. The Iranian government nationalized much of the country’s industry, including private farms and unemployed Iranians flock to the cities. There have been many riots against the Mullahs and other riots that outsiders haven’t heard about. The situation is a powderkeg ready to blow.

Take in mind that iran has been under heavy US sanctions for some 30 years.

Also with 2800$ per year you can do much more in iran .

Iran produce almost all its food.
Even in persian gulf countries you see in market half iranian products.

80% of wise american hate bush. If you drop a bomb inside USA everyone gonna be behind bush and gonna support him!

The same thing with iran if you hit them it make them more to suppport mullah.

The battle began months ago, but it is not the kind you think.

Iran’s economy is not healthy. Sunni Saudi Arabia has been keeping the price of oil low to reduce the profit Shia Iran makes by selling oil to China and other customers. The US moved CVBGs to the area which will force Iran to step up military preparations and will deplete Iranian finances at an increasing rate. Keep the pressure up long enough and the Iranian economy will collapse. The Iranian people will revolt against the Mullahs.

After the collapse, the US will come to the rescue (with lots of financial aid, while probably dragging the UN along to keep political noise down). A new non-theocratic government will be established and China will continue to receive oil to power their economic growth. Sunni countries will be happy that the infidel Shiites got slapped down. Everybody will be happy, except the Iranian Mullahs.

Will the plan work? Who knows?

    I have to disagree here.

This plan was possible theroticaly some years ago before the Iraq occupation.

Because 90% iranian dont like the current regime.

But now after people see the setuation in Iraq they wont give so easly.

Best Posiibility for iran is to purchase nukes even if it cost billions.

because droping some of them in persian gulf will waste a lot of bugs.

Iranian Airforce is old. Its best fighter is 40 years old F14.so they dont have much chance against stealth fighters.

Iran army can not do much as with those Stealth bombs, aircrafts, missles etc..there is no way for them to fight a normal war.

Iran navy can be usefull due to its submarines and those new torpedos.

iran missle system ( shahabs) have not much use . because they would be taken down before they reach distanation.

But overall I dont think any war happens.

Just read the iran and US history after the revolution there was always somekinda cold war going between those 2.

This war drama has been for years.
i don’t think there would be any war.

Iran air power is not effective agaisnt US.

Only chance for iran is to drop of those purchased nukes in persian gulf.

According to self-proclaimed experts, this story has to be false; according to them there is and has been no military technology transfer between Iran and Russia.

I think the story might be true.

its true i seen the clip on iranian news chanel
