Mike,
Here is another turret project that would be right up your alley. According to the display it is a Martin Model 250CE mid upper turret. It was unfortuately burned in a warehouse fire and then spend a number of years sitting in the California desert. Just needs abit of TLC 🙂
It is to be restored and placed in FM104 ….as she would have lost her turrets many years ago when she was converted for post war duties…

Here are a few pictures taken of the Canada Aviation Museum’s example. It has never been restored and is a real time capsule of sorts.

Hey Deryck,
Any idea on what the traded for Expeditor they will be getting is like “condition wise”?
And I will put up my hand if personal tours are being offered of the Halifax 😉
Andrew
I was sorta hoping that the museum would change their mind and not display that early period of aviation powered kite/brass reproduction in the Hali Hall.
To tell you the truth I don’t really know what it is….but it looks like it is hanging in their now… 😉
Great pictures Peter,
I see that they have moved some aircraft into the Halifax Hall.
Not sure if they really need to put the FSM model Spitfire indoors as I could think of others that could benefit for the space but I guess it does go with the Hali theme for the building.
The chippy looks pretty tidy under the bonnet. 🙂
Andrew
That’s sorta what I was thinking but I wasn’t quite sure as they did look pretty funky….
Any idea what time period they would have been built and used in?
Cheers
Andrew
Still working on the KaiTak Venom images from Hong Kong which I’ll upload ASAP.
Meanwhile, here’s a Vampire in the Ottawa collection. Can you tell it’s in a Canadian collection? :)-
Hey the Ottawa Colllection’s Vampire has air under her wings again… ok not in the traditional sense..

Very nice photographs indeed.
Why is it that some museums do not allow the use of a tripod or even a monopod?
Is it just a safety issue?
Andrew
Yes it would have been interesting to see that also…
Maybe they need to put her on a old style locomotive turnstyle…..:D
I like the way you dream….
Where the engines run when she was parked on the otherside of the airport? Old location..
Wow what a difference already….great stuff….
Looks like that video has been removed from youtube now..
I think the Hispano Buchon spend a few years at the Western Canada Museum on loan when the 109 arrived at CAvM.
I had read on other forum about the Buchon being for sale a few years back but it still remains on site.
The Kittyhawk looks a bit faded and in need of fresh paint also. Not sure why but it seems to be covered with hand prints these days..
The new hangar building has windows on one end of it…it was opened to the public 2006..
Note the snow piled up against the windows….brrr
