    Nice one !!!

Myself and some friends were in Barcelona a few years back…one of the lads is about 6’5″ built like tank, skin head hair cut…and looks very very scary….

this local lad walks up to him and with a broad smile says

” Hello you scouse B*****D ” and walks away …

and all this to a Manchester Utd fan!!!

NB: for those who dont know “Scouse ” is a nickname for someone from Liverpool one of the lesser teams in English football but who remain deadly rivals to the greatest!!!

    What’s football?

Errrrr – so why if you knew in advance it was a Mk IX, who the pilot was and that the pilot escaped uninjured, did you bother excavating that plane in the first place? It was perfectly preserved in the waterlogged and fuel drenched clays and it was not under threat from development or ploughing. Why dig it up and then have the problem of storage and conserving the parts/personal items which would decay as soon as they were brought out into the air. Just to make good TV

Took the words right out of my mouth. Thought the whole program was about Bader and his aircraft. Did EVERYONE know that it wasn’t going to be Baders Spit? If so why was in implied on the program that it COULD be Baders?

    Oh oh,

Mark12’s cover has been blown. 😮

    Darn 😀

To the others, don’t bother to clarify your points of view regarding this documentary. I cannot receive Channel 4 in Holland so cannot comment on it . But it makes me sick to read how people are slagging of others only because they have a different opinion about Bader. He was a controversial person in life and an inspiration to many others. Noboby can be expected to be a nice guy, same goes for Guy Gibson and others. The had a job to do and did it in a way to inspire (or put off) others.

So Mr Sakars replies to Mr Saunders (just being polite here) and vice versa, someone else joins in and the whole thing starts over again. Who cares. It’s a documentary anyway and won’t change the world as it is now. Let people see the documentary and give them the chance to form an own opinion, without researchers falling over each other claiming they did the best research with the only possible truth. Perhaps I should write my FIRST book, by the time I have published my NINETEENTH book, AFTER THE BATTLE I can look back to reflect.
    Sad.

I would like to welcome Dilip onto the forum and again, like some others, sorry about how you got here. It’s a sad part of forum life where an intellectual discussion about anything can rapidly turn into a p*ssing competition about who’s right and who’s wrong and there never seems to be much of an effort to balance arguement. I totally agree with you here Cees (that’s a first 😀 ).

To my certain personal knowledge, one aviation forum was completely closed down as a result of legal action, and here a foolishly over-opinionated poster (and moderator) with (I believe) two identities on these boards was taken off by Key as a result of his incorrect and defamatory comments as a result of a legal promise by the offended party.

    Really!!!!! 😮 Which one?

I know that I am often guilty of causing thread drift, but this is getting ridiculous, why not start an “English breakfast” thread in the General Discussion Forum, along with another called “Sniping at each other”? In fact, we could have a permanent thread called “Sniper’s nest” to accommodate those who wish to throw their teddies out of the pram.

Dont you think that would be discriminating against those members who wanted to throw their dummies out of their prams? I like my teddy. I don’t want to throw him anywhere…..

I am aware of most other British traditions as I have been to the UK dozens of times. But having a full English breakfast early in the morning is the most impressive. I like it! :p

    Cees

We could shoot off at a Tangent and discuss the benefits of the good old English heart attack special in the morning and wonder if Bader had one and if he didn’t did it contribute to his being shot down. 😀 😀 😀

    Why can’t it go on?
It’s not the real World–it’s an internet website.
I think you need to ask yourself Mr Clark, what you actually contribute here yourself. Nothing as far as I can see apart from a sanctimonious griping about how nasty it is.
When was the last time you started a constructive thread, which of course would be a way of improving it?
This is the modern World and the way it is.
If you don’t like it, don’t tune in.
I think you were left previously in no doubt about how I felt (and others) about people like you setting yourself up as judge and jury on other peoples codes of behaviour and the fact that you started a thread over on GD about bad behaviour where you hoped to preach your moral code fell, sank like a lead submarine must have given you some clue as to the complete lack of interest here in your opinions.
What actually gives you that right, other than an inflated ego that you’re right and the rest are somehow wrong?

Why don’t you go away (perhaps spend time on the BBC website–where as you say it’s tightly moderated) rather than sitting in your armchair being sanctimonious and contributing nothing of worth here.

    Andy.
PS. Please don’t waste time writing me pious private messages as you did before when we crossed swords.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Shame there isn’t a smilie of clapping hands or there would be a page of them.

For my part, having taken an active part with other readers in successfully pressing for the introduction of moderation on these forums, and later in pressing for better, more consistent moderation, it is clear that despite some recent improvement in the overall atmosphere of the boards there is now a real danger of descending once again into the mire of spite, recrimination and risk of litigation of earlier years.

A rapid rise in bad attitude, bad language, personal attack and defamatory remarks is noticeable, as several recent Historic threads show (this & the earlier Tangmere thread and the Vulcan matter stand out). The Key publishing Aviation boards as a whole already have a poor international reputation – as others have remarked more than once – and it simply can’t go on.

Despite the best efforts of the volunteer moderators out of hours they are too few, and not always consistent. After prolonged experience it’s now clear that personal attacks and defamatory jibes still escape the net. They pose a real risk to the future of the boards.

There is a way for Key to secure a viable non-actionable future: follow the lead of the BBC and others and introduce full moderation (where all posts are vetted before they are shown on line). There will be the usual sniping about “sanctimonious sterility” from the usual cyber bullies, but it’ll have to come. Key may need to recruit more volunteer moderators: a difficult task, and certainly not one for me.

As for the inevitable but ever-empty sterility jibe, I’d point to the later threads on the RN/BoB thread, including JDK’s, as examples of the sort of vigorous and fertile exchange that can be achieved by posters of goodwill. Posts of ill-will, driven by ignorance, spite, bullying and alcohol, are leading the boards steadily towards bitter litigation and closure.

I’ll put these views directly to the Webmaster and the Key Publishing Managing Director and Publisher in working hours, and invite any like-minded readers to do the same. Their emails addresses are found, respectively, on the Contact Us link here (below) and at http://www.keypublishing.com

How many boards have been sued as a result of their content and how many users have been sued as a result of their posting?

I could not agree more in relation to a number of the posts already made in this thread. It is also interesting to note the number of new members to the forum who’s first posts are in relation to this subject. Coincidence? Apart from some being potentially actionable a number have been increasingly infantile. Some are clearly using this forum to publicly “have a go” or else trying to throw insults in certain directions in relation to private grievances they may have whilst trying to hide behind the anonymity of their forum name. Is that what this forum is for? Andy Saunders

I made a comment in another thread about attacking other members and I was assured that it never happens on this forum only for me to be attacked. I’m pretty good at standing up for myself but the thing that I have noticed is when one attacks, another joins (usually a friend it seems) and afterwards they slap each other on the back like school yard bullies.

Let me get this straight. You looked at it and then printed it out to throw it out and then photograph it?

Ah, the black art or ranking! 😀 No, it is not related to posts or fences or bridges. It is related to who knows what, in other words do not bother to ask as all will never be revealed or the answer will be nonsensible.

Yes, the video is very interesting, it’s not very clear down there is it! 🙂

It’s an interesting video and that’s good visibility for the UK. It looks like the current was running a bit so it was probably quite difficult for the guy to operate the camera, clean the guns and stay where he was.
