That’s a sketch made by whom? Something even remotely official or a fan’s drawing?
The sketch apeared in a newspaper’s article which featured general informations about the ship and a interview with state secretary for these matters. I don’t know is it official or not, but it doesn’t matter. If these plans are followed(building starts before this year’s end), official pictures are soon to be out.
78 meters seems a bit too long… unless they’re planning to put a helo hangar on that thing, which the sketch doesn’t show. Though, there’s really little need for a helo hangar on such boats, for croatian sea and missions croatian navy/coast guard might do.
well, 78 meters isn’t exactly too long. The Gowind 200 is 103 meters long and 2000 tonnes, so this is much smaller and I would be surprised to see a hangar on these things. Although, as is written in the article, these ships may actually do patrols along the Otrant gates(the entrance in the adriatic) and venture in the Med maybe, so I guess a hangar would be a welcome addition to the design, but I doubt there’s enough room if this specifications are true indeed.
I remember reading that the SR-71 did a few sorties aorund egypt in 1973, during the Yom kippur war. Do you think that the two may have met in the air(MiG-25RB, not PDS)? Would be interesting…
Does anyone know anything about a claimed f-15 vs MiG-25 incident when a Iraqi MiG-25 tried to intercept a U-2 and was chased off by the F-15?
Ok… I’ve edited it… but, if anyone is interested in the books, visit http://www.ebooksclub.org, register(it’s free), and download…there’s roughly 30 000 books about almost evrything, including aviation, warships, spaceships and so on… do note that the download limit per day is possible on some servers.
Enjoy!
Is Mach 2.5 fast enough to intercept a MiG-25 flying at Mach 2.8?
What’s the point of designing the F-15 to fly at Mach 2.5, if it’s still possibly not fast enough to catch a MiG-25R on a recce mission (which I presume was the target they had in mind when they designed the F-15 to fly so fast in the first place?)?
Mach 2,5 is clean…With some extra rockets and fuel carried aboard, I think M2 is the limit, if not an even lower speed.
Well, I think the F-15 was designed mainly to counter the P version of the 25. Remeber, they thought it was a well manouvering dogfighting machine back then, before Belenko and his (sometimes dubious) claims.
I think possibly the only 3 planes to be able to go that fast fully armed would be the Avro Arrow(sadly, we will never know), the MiG-25P(DS)/MiG-31 combo and the YF-12.
No problem for the F-15 as it was shown by real kills. Even when that MiG-25R got away unharmed, there was no physical damage from that except some pride may be hurt.
Yeah, but those MiGs were flown pretty slow and low, where they weren’t supposed to operate. I wonder what would be the result if someone would match a F-15 to a MiG-25PDS/MiG-31 at high altitudes and speeds.
Fighters armed with medium AAMs with Mach 4+
Mach 4+ relative to the non-moving observer on the ground, or relative to the plane they were fired from(exclude the Lorentz factor, they ain’t that fast:D )?
If Croatia doesnt join NATO would our forces still modernize?
Yes, and we would be forced to increase spending for our military. SO, let’s hope we do enter, but the biggest problem is bad image that NATO has in CRoatia. Currently, only 33% is for membership…
Here’s 2 pictures…
our guys practicing

and some stuff left by russians:D

Well… It’s 11 pages of many pictures, and I’m on a dial-up from home:D 😀 😀
Try with another browser, or register, maybe it helps
Here’s a link to a thread on a croatian forum discussing our guys in Afganistan and their equipment. Loads of pictures, directly from there! It’s in croatian, but you can see the pictures.
Enjoy!

Yeah, post some more. I am particulary interested in the new assault rifle. Actually, I have a (girl)friend whose father works in the HS factory which is the manufacturer of this new rifle. Any data, will it be built for our armed forces?
Mybe I should ask her for some insider data:D ?
And Ustasa… please change your nickname!
Ok Ustasa, nice pics…but… What’s the point of posting pictures of croatian armed forces in topic named Macedonian Armed forces?
Maybe some of the moderators could open a new topic…
Yes, it was mentioned in an interviev with someone in the Croatian airforce…I think that interview can be found on the http://www.hrvatski-vojnik.hr/ , in one of the recent online editions… Look it up.
Politics aside?
Yes you’re right about a advanced trainer…. it would be nice to have a couple of small jet’s but we proved that it’s possible to do without with somewhat more experienced pilatus pilots (400 hrs). Any way is much cheaper to buy a couple then to start a production line.
I also seriously doubt that the Serbs ware able to keep their old aviation experts and train new competent aeronautical engineers… as we struggle with that and we are objectively in much better economic shape.
With an introduction of a new plane we won’t have the money for a jet trainer, anyway. Joust, eventually, arming the PC-9’s will be enough for now. And the PC-9 is not so far away from a jet trainer (pilot training wise) as you would think.
Yes, we have proved that… but, in addition to a squadron or two of modern multi role fighters we might buy, it would be nice to have a squadron of advanced trainers which would also have some usable (Light)ground attack role…
About serbs…there’s no need for any experts…the production line is there, but money isn’t. The G-4MD is basicly a avionics/sensor upgrade to the basic G-4…nothing more, nothing less.
What about hose Zlins our airforce bought? When are we getting them?
That’s if we disregard the fact that starting a production line of a modern plane with the actual resources and recent history of ex-Yugoslavian countries is a ridiculous idea… no offence.
Politics aside…Production line is already there. It’s just that serbs don’t have the money currently…And need I remind you that we are missing a advanced trainer. Our pilots are switching directly from Pilatus PC-9M to MiGs…
here’s a nice picture of Jeanne d’Arc while visiting Split recently…
Guys, what about the Kiev class… I know that it isn’t small as the projects/ships discussed earlier, but what do you think about it’s design. Would it been succesfull in it’s ASW role against NATO forces?
Phew…being the atheistic prick I am, I forgot to wish everyone a merry christmas:) … my apologies
Just because they join PfP or even Nato or EU doesn’t mean they can’t buy Russian equipment. Look at Greece, they bought S-300 or Tor M1 or something recently from Russia. Czechs bought the Mi-35 last year and Croatia just bought some Mi-17’s. Besides, Serbia doesn’t want to join Nato, only PfP and EU.
I agree on that, but I doubt you’ll see PAK-FA in serbian colours. Even in Russian colours… Where did you read about PAK-FAs flight in a year or two? Even if they do it, you really think they are gonna sell it to serbia… Your airforce would be best off with a squadron or two of gripens, plus a squadron of upgraded G-4s…
