So the mighty APG-71 (not talk about the AWG-9) is pratically unable to see the F-22 or other ‘stealth’ aircrafts?

Of course the APG-71 would detect the F-22 and get a lock .. ..Raptors mockup fights with both Rafale and Typhoon proved beyond reasonable doubt that this aircraft can be detected and defeated in dogfights …

Rafale’s new AESA versus APG-79 of the Super Hornet in terms of range, tracking speed and number of targets acquired.. Some data might be still be classified but someone should have an idea..

Failure to get a Rafale deal with India will not break Dassault, nor ruin Rafale’s sales prospects..

I disagree.. This would be a tremendous setback from which DASSAULT won’t be able to recover easily..In Brazil , I would bet on Super Hornet and in UAE its still 50:50 between Rafale and Typhoon. Dassault can lose both deals just like in Korea, Singapore and Switzerland. Can you think of an another alternative market for 126+63 fighters if the deal with India fails ???
Sorry, Dassault has no replacement for Indian contract. It will not break Dassault, as they have the FALCON line, but it will seriously damage Rafale without doubt.

Whatever, if India need Rafale it’s likely the two parties will find a solution acceptable to both parties. Unless India believed that Eurofighter would agree to a contract whose nature was unacceptable to Dassault, what would be the point in considering switching?

As I undestand it would require huge concession from either side.
Dassault accepts full responsibility for all those Rafale’s built in India under licence by Indian technicians and engineers or India agrees on two seperate contracts 18 and 108 fighters as proposed by Dassault .
Very difficult to predict who will approach the other party first.

India would never buy US fighters ,that’s for sure .. MIG-29’s with new AESA radars and Typhoons seem to be the best alternatives..But on the other hand ,if Dassault loses this one too, they will have no chance in UAE and its an ultimate death sentence for the Rafale in international fighter market.

Those are DESCISIONS Dassault needed to make before entering the tendering process..The MRCA was always supposed to be made in India and involved TOT as far as i know (from reading about it , mostly on this forum)

This is a valid point you made..Yes, it was clear from the beginning and Dassault knew it , 18 fighters produced in France, the rest in India and this includes the additional 63 fighters after completion of the first 126 , so why now ? almost eight months after they entered negotiations ? strange world !

Indians obviously believe they are negotiating from a position of strength, because they know that this order is absolutely vital for Dassault and the future of Rafale and they are clearly trying to exploit the situation.
They and Dassault will probably meet somewhere in the middle. Another stumbling block could be the technology transfer . I still can’t believe that Thales is willing to share the technology of SPECTRE and the brand new AESA radar .

the fact being, India wants Dassault to be fully and solely responsible for the aircraft, yet, they don’t allow Dassault to pick the partners to work with and impose HAL which, apparently, didn’t appear to Dassault representatives to be able to do its job as it is supposed to do

Dassault will never ever accept this, the responsibility for such a sophisticated fighter like the RAFALE assembled in a foreign country..
Its OK if this country is the UK ,Germany or Japan, but not India..
If India insists on this, they should go and buy the SU-35,its better for them.

Yes absolutely ..They couldn’t handle the fly-by-wire properly due to inadequate crew training ! there was nothing wrong with the aircraft itself.

Future version of the A380 is highly unlikely. The present one doesn’t sell enough to cover production costs.

I have to agree. From an historical perspective the A320 program suffered a far more traumatic start to its service life, but survived. First A320 delivery – 26 March 1988. First A320 crash involving loss of life – 26 June 1988.

This is not the same.. No Airbus or Boeing model had been grounded completely one year after the first delivery ( do I miss something here ?? ) ..This situation is unique.. The worst nightmare for Boeing would be to find out that the batteries are O.K but there is a serious imbalance between the total available battery power and the total electrical power the aircraft needs to function properly. If this is the reason for overheating, the 787 is f… up
and the Boeing engineers who screwed this up because they had 3 years time from 2008 to 2011 to solve or ascertain this problem will have to go back to drawing board resulting in massive delays and enourmous cost and huge image loss for Boeing. Remember, the 787’s break even is estimated to be around 2000 aircraft !! and this is for now…

The dreamliner is finished once and for all…Grounding one year after the introduction is a long term dead sentence..There is no other explanation, the mass cancellations will follow soon .. If the rival A-350 flies this year and continue to do so for another year, the Dreamliner is dead ! and Boeings commercial aircraft division as well..

Combat Aircraft (not french AFAIK) goes even further, saying that Typhoon won’t be evaluated. Rafale would only face the F-16.

Two sources. So much for the “typical French press”.

LOL , Sources can tell you anything..

According to the “La Tribune” economic diary,

Regarding combat aircrafts, the Rafale, just went out of a very positive campaign in hot weather (50 degrees) in Qatar … without heatstroke unlike U.S. rivals, the Boeing aircraft, the F-15 and F-18.

adapted from Google translation (from free content)

Utter nonsense and pure fantasy! typical French press , can’t be taken seriously..
