As far as I can see Great Massingham/West Raynham are the closest I have found so far – any more contenders?
Wyton/Warboys not quite so close.
Cheers
Frank
Crikey! I bet ATC had some fun there. Nice one Frank.
Dean.
Dean – I can see your thinking regarding Lincoln’s. This one IS related.
I know I’m going to kick myself, but I just can’t remember where this is. I don’t know if it’s been mentioned on the forums or if it’s been in Flypast, but I came across the story a few years ago, on the web, and e-mailed it to my Father. I thought it would make an interesting post but I can’t find the e-mail or the website now – I’ll have to have another look tonight.

Relics rather than tracks but yes, a novel way of getting aircraft in and out of hangars.
Are Avro Lincolns anything to do with this? If they are, it’s on the tip of my tongue, but I just can’t recall where it was 🙁 . Funnily enough, I was trying to find an old e-mail about it last night and was going to post a thread about it, but I couldn’t find it.
Dean.
Binbrook!
Yes. Too easy that one, I’ll have to get my thinking cap on!
No, not Cardington, not FIDO and not a railway.
I know you said not a railway, but are they tracks of another kind? I’m thinking of a novel way of getting aircraft into hangers!
Dean.
North Coates!
North Coates I think it is…..
Yes, you are both correct. The only other one I’ve prepared is another easy one, below; I’ll have to think of somewhere more obscure tonight!
Lindholme. The prison is a giveaway!
I guess that was an easy one really. Here’s another before I sign off – unfortunately the concrete runway is no more and only a grass strip remains.
Dean.
Wyton and Warboys had circuits that actually overlapped.
I’ll have to have a look at them tonight; it’s a little awkward here at work!
One more before I hit the hay.
Dean.
A small section of this WWII airfield is now used for private flying.
Had a quick fly round Norfolk and Suffolk on Memory Map – I’d say it’s RAF Beccles.
Dean.
That northern airfield is very distinctive. Goxhill and North Killingholme.
Yep, both right. I wonder if there are any airfields that are/where closer together?
Dean.
Two for the price of one!
Excellent thread this. Here’s one for you… well, two actually!
Dean.
More Raspberry Ripple!
Here’s one that was at Waddington this year, and another from a fly-in at North Coates in 99 (quality’s not as good, as it’s a scanned print using an old scanner).
7 years! Crikey! It was only a few days ago when I caught a bit of ‘A Spitfire’s Story’ on Discovery Wings; where Mark was being interviewed. I must admit, it brought a lump to my throat 🙁 .
What a wonderful sight! 😀
