Yeah that sounds about right. The last time I visited LHR I was graphing 09L head-on approach shots, and the sun was directly in front of us at 18:54 so anytime after then would be good I’m guessing?
There are two Japan Government 747s at LHR at the moment. Both due to go on Wednesday, so hopefully the weather brightens up by then.
Let me know the next time your planning to visit LHR, as you never know, we may bump into each other.
Cheers,
Alex
Thanks for that. I plan to go to LHR in about two weeks time when they’ll be landing on 27L again, and just wondered which bit of kit was needed for that location.
Cheers,
Alex
Cheers mate, those last two are just awesome.
Out of interest were you using your 70-200 or 100-400?
Great shots richard! How busy was it?
I certainly need a bit of practice when it comes to air shows. I found myself at Duxford last weekend, panning objects that were moving in excess of 300mph. Only came away with a few dodgy images, so it wasn’t all bad. A 500mm prime would have been useful though. Lots of people were using 300mm 2.8s.
Any more LHR shots for us?
Cheers mate,
Alex
Well it was definitely worth it, by the looks of it.
It’s a bit tricky getting big lenses through fences, especially at LHR. You did well not to get them in the frame.
Some more great shots.
Did you take them through the fence, or are there any gaps where you can get shots?
Cheers,
Alex
super photos mate!
I am right in saying they’re 27R landing shots?
I’d love to know where they were taken from? I thought the only way to get shots from the southside of LHR was from a hotel?
MTIA,
Alex
There are over 10 wizz air flights every day into Luton. The flight schedule usually works out that 4 different a/c should be seen operating the routes.
Wizz Air have recently taken delivery of a new A320, HA-LPJ which you may have seen if you were lucky Peter?
You should have put Norwegian Air Shuttle 737 landing lol. 😀
The angle is a little confusing I guess.
Nice pics Peter!
I didn’t make it to luton in the end as my eyes were glued to the footie on TV. 😮 I hear there was a good intake of biz traffic though.
Yes the royal Bahrain flight own that 727. It is no secret though. 😉
I heard the pilot asking for clearances to Nice, so the passengers were probably off to the Cannes film festival.
The royal Bahrain flight also own A9C-HMH B747-SP, A9C-HMK B747-400 and A9C-BAH Gulfstream 4.
Cheers. 🙂
Yeah, I thought I’d leave out those boring Ryanairs. Didn’t even see any of the new ones either! 😡
I was tempted not to upload an Easy either, but the orange reflection in the wing was just too good to leave out.

This looks like the same location I went to last month:

If so, it’s at least a 2 hour walk from the terminal!
