Thanks guys, I’ll try to get my hands on the book by Sanders Allen.
Edwin
I apologise if my first entry may have been cause of confusion.
Dutch (local) newspapers are reporting the site has been researched. Parts of an engine, landinggear, armour plating, armament and other smaller pieces of debris have been found, but no remains of the crew.
I’d say the Fokker G-1 Mercury :eagerness: – and a little younger – the Mirage IIIc
I made my “debut” at Legends this year and I loved every minute of it. From earlier comments I understand that it may have been a “lesser” show than previous ones, but for me, a Dutchy, it was an outright success.
The commentor did not bother me. In Holland, we have to make do with two total nitwits at the airshows….. Only thing which could improve is a transit bus to the Whittlesford parking station…
Apologies for digging up this old topic. I believe this article is a good read and valuable adition to our knowledge of the subject. It is written by renowned specialist P. C. Boer.
Cheers,
Edwin
Wasnt Milch responsible for frustrating the early development of the Me-109 as well? (But then again, what if the He-100 reached operational status?)
Serial suggests its from a Mercury XV. But its an estimated guess, based on known serials…
Thank you for the tips guys!
It’s French, and was at the Bourget show of 1936… can’t recall the type though… 😡
Dutch parliament has just closed debate on the JSF testprogramme and procurement.
In short, the outcome is:
– procurement of both testaircraft should be postponed.
– all direct and indirect investments in the JSF testprogramme will be cancelled.
– Data from evaluations in 2002 and 2008 are now regarded as outdated. New information concerning cost, delays and predicted total production figures are now available and should be studied carefully.
– reopening an evaluation between candidates should be considered.
The secretary of defence, who was forced to resign due to an adultary-scandal last week, was not available to defend the viewpoints of the political party CDA, which is in favour of buying the JSF. This directly resulted in new discussions in parliament, with abovementioned results.
The motion to bail out of the JSF test programme has been accepted by a comfortable margin. Dutch parliament has voted earlier today.
Since the government fell earlier this year, the final decision will be made after a new parliament has been vowed in.
Today Dutch parliament is discussing bailing out of the JSF test program. The PvdA (Labour party) has declared that a bailout is a serious option. Up to now, the PvdA was in favour of the development program and participation and procurement of 85 aircraft. Since new figures has shown that with the budget only 50 aircraft can be bought, the JSF program has hit many opposition.

Another version of the story;
Meinecke was in the plot and let Leegstra go.
When he [Leegstra] entered English airspace he lowered the landinggear to show he was intending to land his aircraft. There was no interception of any kind.
I’m interested to know what pops up from that archive Mathieu! Is it for you-know-what :D?
