South Korea uses part of the Seoul – Pusan Expressway near Suwon as an emergency runway.

If one was to pass this section, one would notice the different road markings, the buildings and shacks surrounded by barbed wire, and the aprons which of course to the untrained eye, look like ordinary parking lots.

During the Team Spirit exercises, ROK and US pilots practiced take offs and landings using this strip, but of course with the Team Spirit exercises indefinetely suspended, the only vehicles that use this strip are powered by gasoline and diesel.
