That was the bomber gap. The missile gap existed. Check the number of deployed ICBMs over the years.
That too but the same crap with missiles was laid down.
“The missile gap was the term used in the United States for the perceived disparity between the number and power of the weapons in the U.S.S.R. and U.S. ballistic missile arsenals during the Cold War. The gap only existed in exaggerated estimates made by the Gaither Committee in 1957 and United States Air Force (USAF). In the early 1960s, the CIA provided figures that were much lower and gave the US a clear advantage. Like the bomber gap of only a few years earlier, it is believed that the “gap” was known to be illusionary from the start, and was being used solely as a political tool, another example of policy by press release.”
Senator James Inhofe mentioned in the article servers on the Senate Arms Services committee with another Senator named Saxby Chambliss. Guess where the F22 is produced? In Georgia…Senator Chambliss’s homes state.
You guys ever hear or remember the term “missile gap” used in the 60’s? It was used by U.S. politicians and military to get funding to close the gap between the number and quality of missiles the USSR had compared to the number and quality the US had. Unfortunately for the American tax payer there was no gap. The USSR’s advantage never existed and billions upon billions of dollars were spent to catch up to to a lead the USSR never had.
Typically the hoax was foisted on the American tax payer by politicians from states that would significantly gain from such huge federal expenditures.
In this time of economic crisis when the federal budget is being thrown up in the air and you wanted to make sure your military heavy district was left alone or increased…why then you claim there was a “fighter plane” gap.
In this economic climate, if the USSR put a rowboat to sea that happened to sink…some congressman from Massachusetts would scream about the new Russian superiority in the latest submarines and demand the US build more Nebraska class nukes.
I’ve always been intrigued by the Lightnings engine configuration. Stacking one engine above another was so unique. If that configuration was applied to different wing layouts how would it look? How would a Saab Draken look/perform with a Lightning style stacked engine arrangement? Could you still use the side air intakes? I think it would be a very interesting variation….
Are two engines really an advantage? Especially when operating cost and maintenance is a consideration.
“This person” has FLOWN AGAINST & spent a considerable time conversing/debriefing with OPERATIONAL Indian Su-30MKI pilots! Hell, “this person” has probably FLOWN a Flanker himself (possible even one of the very Su-30MKI he flew against).
How about you enlighten us then…
You don’t understand…real world facts from people who have actually done this mean nothing compared to Internet forum opinions. This is why it has been proven beyond a doubt that bees can’t possibly fly.
This person harldy knows anything about Su-30MKI sustain turn capability as it will be only be known by test pilot as operational pilots dont show it for life of airframe and TVC. Everything from tumansky engine to MIG-21 radar to V engine is wrong. if Koyp-21 essentailly late 80s tech is so dangers so think what can Kopyo-m/F capability.
Yes, clearly the guy in the video was completely clueless. All of his information was gained by reading books and confirmed in Internet forums, not by actual flying and speaking with the pilots who actually fly the planes in question. In fact, Red Flag was just a video game…
Anyone else find it interesting about what was said about the SU-30 engines? It was not very flattering….
Wow! Finally some actual facts and truth from people who know instead of just conjecture and baseless opinion.
I’m very interested in the trade show…and the static displays. I expect we’ll stay in Paris but far enough away so that we can get a decent hotel.
As I understand it, virtually every time an SR 71 flew it was doing Mach 3. Is that the case with the Mig 25? I wonder what the ratio of total hours flown to hours flown at Mach 2.5+ is between the SR 71 & Mig 25…
As far as setting a trap for the Mig 25. That’s not to be counted? Where as a trap set for an F117 is? Its been implied that the single shoot down of an F 117 invalidates its stealth capabilities completely.
Yes “Democracy” is basically the rule by majority (Not majority of what the citesens want, but what the “Elected Officials want”) so scince the form of Government that N.K. has is “Communist” or “Socialist” (if you prefer)
It’s a Democratic form of Government, based upon Communisim/Socialism.
So you agree with the way Chavez and Putin are changing their “Democracies”?
Once again a successful troll…..
What does “almost shot down” mean? I believe that zero Blackbirds were actually shot down. How many Mig 25’s have been shot down? I believe it’s quite a bit more than zero…and if we add “almost shot down”…well that would be a lot more.
How many?
Just curious…how many Mig 25’s have been shot down? VS how many aircraft has the Mig 25 shot down?
Just by logic tell me why the MiG-1.44 has so many aerodynamic controls? a simple look at it will show it that it has more aerodynamic controls than even the Eurofighter
from this view it is apparent even the ventral fins are hinged and are control surfaces
This other view shows you even more control surfaces, it has an type of elevon not seen in other jet fighter ( between the engine and vertical fin there is a type of elevon) and remember the J-10 is more or less very similar to this jet, why do you think it has so much aerodynamic controls even when it uses thrust vectoring?
I can assure you the J-10 is a very agile fighter, by aerodynamic basis and by simple empirical analogies with the MiG 144 or Eurofighter.
Your speculation can not even prove the tailess Mirage 2000 can be better than the Eurofighter or Rafale, of course you are afraid to say the obvious that the LCA is not match for the Eurofighter, Rafale and Gripen your reasoning leaves no explanation to why the french abandoned the tailess configuration seen on the Mirage 2000 and used the canard-delta configuration on the Rafale.
Now compare the J-10 with the MiG-1.44
So the aircraft with the most cotrol surfaces is best? Wow, I hope the Mig-1.44 never runs into a Fokker Triplane or Sopwith Camel.
