I know this is an old thread. But would anyone have a decent drawing of this Rotol blade (as discussed at the start of this topic?) As I am needing to make an accurate one in 1/32nd scale for a model. Any help would be hugely appreciated
Kind regards
Anthony
Right-O Rocketeer. You need to find the member with the dataplate (probably we all know who that would be…maybe?) and with your parts get a project on the market???
Or I could trade you some Mk6 & 7 Auster spares for your Spiteful bits and I could find the dataplate…..
Or I could just get my coat and leave LOL.
Seems like a great opportunity, probably the only way we will ever have the possibility of ever seeing one in our lifetime.
Ok, i’ll stop dreaming and get my coat!
I agree, what an interesting observation!
Now it begs the question that if there is a dataplate out there we could see a company like Airframe Assemblies or HFL/ARCo build one? We need to find a rich investor first of course! As for the wing, isn’t it similar to the Attacker?
Like most things, anything could be done with buckets of money etc I guess….I’ll stop daydreaming now LOL. But how nice would it be to see a Spiteful fuse built up??
Right-O……back to the real world of fixing an Auster
Great job and great dedication! We are loving every update over here in NZ! Keep it up….the sun will be shining soon!
Hi I know this is an older thread, but the pics have disappeared of the TT.35 Mosquitoes with the Dayglo panels. I am also trying to find any info on the Wind driven Type ‘G’ winch carried under the bomb bay, good photo’s or drawings would be very much appreciated to help a friend out.
Kind regards
Anthony
Thank you very much for your efforts to put this up!
Dont suppose anyone has yet stumbled across one of these yet???
Cheers

One of the Few, that’s a good point. Owners would like us to enjoy their beautiful aircraft or they wouldn’t display them at airshows etc.
I have poured (am pouring) an inordinate sum of money into my Auster T7 WE552 to have her as original and ‘stock military’ as I can. In fact I could have brought probably 3 airworthy ones for the cost of this rebuild so far. If someone was polite enough to say….A,B or C is not quite right, then I wouldn’t be offended. But if they were arrogant about it then I might be. I agree, feedback is a gift and I am all for feedback if it helps authenticity. Often it’s not what you say, its ‘how’ you say it. I would take it on board and decide whether or not it bugged me enough to fix. I want people to look at her and enjoy seeing a piece of history brought back to life to tell a story (in this case the Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force) of a bygone era and learn from it. And please give me feedback.
Maybe we are too precious about worrying if we offend an owner if we see a ‘tweak’ that could be made? Sure, their money their decision, but maybe we shouldn’t assume we are criticizing or running anyone or anything down? I know of a Mustang owner who had a couple of things very politely pointed out (not by me lol)and he was most happy to hear it and made some (not all) of the changes for authenticity
Anyway, that’s just my personal thoughts for what its worth.
Interesting discussion. Many years ago I was at the Air NZ engineering facility taking a (since deceased) 6 Sqn Hurri vet in to see the rebuild progress on a couple of occasions. On one trip one of the engineers pointed out to me the top cowl on P3351 that he was not happy with the cowl line on their plane. He told me he had done it himself and although tricky wanted to re-do it if time permitted as it bugged him (a lot). Maybe it’s a tricky transition between those 2 panels??
Recently a person who studies the 109 series of aircraft pointed out to me that the top cowl on the ‘E’s that we saw rebuilt several years ago had the profile wrong on the top cowl just behind the spinner (far too rounded and not flat). I had never noticed it before but now he has pointed it out…I cant stop looking at it LOL.
It’s a tough one. The guys who do this work are truly craftsmen and have a skill set that few possess. I for one love the fact that people with these skills put their hand to vintage aircraft. Would I like to see it fixed….sure! Am I really that bothered….not overly. But I see peoples views both ways.
Great discussion on an awesome thread. Thanks for the photo’s guys, I appreciate it and love each update!!

Old thread this one, but worthy of resurrection considering all the great pics still on here!
Whatever happened to that Auster pictured above, I love that scheme and couldnt find anything on the ‘net’.
I better contribute if I am too drag this one up.
Here is my mate Charlie’s Auster when we were up in another Auster flying around South Canterbury NZ

Show us some Auster photo’s…..projects, historic, recent, whatever…..
Thank you so very much for the update! Always a pleasure seeing the work going on there, and you taking the time to post for us.
Are they going to put the periscope equipment etc back on the Sea Fury? That would REALLY finish her off…she looks amazing

R.I.P Adrian……so I sorry I didn’t get your old Auster WE552/HKG-4 finished in time for you to see her fly again. Thank you for the encouragement, pilots notes, photo’s and great phone chats…. I will miss you.
Hi Dave, would you be interested in selling it? Is it like ‘Old Stagers’ one ? Condition? Sorry so many questions…
I might have some Auster parts you might need to swap??
Hi Guys
First up, thank you all for your help, I really appreciate your taking the time for me!
Now, I just got to find one? At least I know what I am looking for more definitively now. Any ideas who might have them?
Dave do you??
Thanks again for your help so far!
Cheers
