Yas as Bruce said. Underneath was a circular metal access panel under the nose (just behind the cap) about the size to fit your hand in and scoop them all out through the hole on return.
Oh boy ‘Lizzie’ looks amazing! LOVE her paint scheme. How cool will she look flying with the Blenheim!!
Now where to we find a Battle capable of flight…..LOL
Wow Charlie, wonderful photo’s!
WE591 went back to the UK and got civilianized and still flies today. I wonder if the owner has seen these pics??
Thanks so much!
Hi Charlie, no problem at all, I’m not a radio guy but am trying to learn so I can get the correct equipment fitted into my plane, but I think you were correct! I find it interesting hearing engineers and operators/crew experiences rather than pilots for some reason.
Did you ever have anything to do with the T.7 trainer version?
Cheers
Anthony
Hi Charlie, welcome to Key forum!
Great photo you have come up with! Did you have anything to do with the Plessey PTR 61 radio’s fitted in them? I am hoping to put one back in my T.7 rebuild
Cheers
Anthony
Thanks, you guys are awesome!
James, I really appreciate you taking the time to write me such a detailed response. That shows me it is possible to do and for originality I can go down that track. I have been told that an American Eclipse 518 will be a good modern replacement.
The other option is buying this at the same time?

What do you think?
Thanks again, I am grateful for your reply
Kind regards

Would it be possible to swap out the 24V coil and put the 12V coil into the same Type ‘J’ casing?
Aaah, thanks Terry, so there is a 12V one! Much appreciated mate….now to find one
Cheers
Anthony
Sorry to drag this old thread up, but I am looking for a NOS Type J Magnetic relay switch. The one I have found says 24Volts. I am not an electrical guy, but my Auster runs a 12V system and the Service manual calls out for a Type ‘J’. Would this be correct for me? Its for the starter on the Gipsy
Any help appreciated
Cheers

Fantastic to see JG891 back in the air! She looks amazing, now where is that tropical lower cowl she used to own….? Great job on whoever repaired her

Hi all
Anyone have a Graviner Fire Extinguisher (50-60’s era) for my Auster rebuild? Looks like this one below (pic plucked from the ‘net’). Prefer one in good condition with no dents so it can be overhauled. Would be nice if the sticker was in tact so I could get a copy made to stick back on.

Thanks John, appreciate the update.
Would be nice to see her fly again with that big Volkes Filter re-fitted hopefully.
