Just curious if anyone has heard anything on JG891 and how she is?
Cheers

Nice panel Rob!
Looking for a nice New Old Stock 2 way tumbler switch (5CW/2497) if anyone has one they would part with.

GTO has to be one of the most pristine Austers out there, she looks lovely……
Firstly, pleased to hear no one was hurt
However he seemed to hit that cherry picker pretty darn hard. There would have been a LOT of energy in that impact to sheer the wing off like that. One would wonder where it all went? I suspect a lot of it must have transferred into the steel fuse frame the wing was bolted to? It’s probably the damage we cant see that will cost the most……
Nothing money wont fix I guess
Thanks very much! Great photos
Thank you so very much for your detailed answer on the subject! This will be very useful, and after hearing that…..no I am not really looking forward to it either! Although it does look striking.
Thanks to you all who responded. As you can see I have a bit to do as well

The BBMF Chippie looks magnificent I must say!
Who paints their aircraft? The reason I ask is because my Auster T.7 when ready for paint has dayglo stripes all over her like this Chippie. I understand the RAF originally used tape applied to the airframe and the colour is rather unstable. However I like the way these have been done and wonder how they did it, and what colour mix they used???? I don’t really want to be having to rip the Dayglo tape off every few years to keep her looking nice.
As always a brilliant thread and thanks to the contributors!

Great progress guys and great to see her indoors, Keep up the great work! Love this thread
Dave, you are a legend mate! Order placed!
Have you found any Auster spares in your stuff? Still have that prop cover?
Cheers and thanks again….that’s why I love this forum!

Hi John,
Thanks for taking the time to look mate! I would have ordered some of those but Dave found some originals at LAS……even though I had already looked there first!
Thanks again

Can anyone out there help me. All over my Auster are these metal ties (as per pic below). They are thin gauge aluminium.
There are 2 types, one type with 2 holes to thread back through (as shown) and another with just one.

I know a lot of people just use zip lock ones, but I am aiming to be as original as possible. I have had a look on-line but cant seem to find any…..As my wife would say..I am probably having a ‘man look’ LOL
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers

I agree with Amarok here
PlastiX is expensive, but works beautifully. I polished up an escape hatch off an FB-VI Mosquito for someone and it really came up like new…..took a lot of elbow grease though! Elbow grease is cheap, but you will use a lot…LOL
Hope that helps a little

Thanks for posting that photo of NZ1707….lovely!
Hi Tony, they are around. I believe they were used in Chippies as well… But a bit tough from over locating them
